I burst into tears when I heard the first note you sang, it was so beautiful. It's been a dark year around the world this year, we have needed an inspiration like you. Susan, I live in Austin, Tx. Ive been a musician most of my life. I cant remember the last time I was moved as I was 10 mins. ago when I heard your performance. Here in Vermont, my husband used your video in his 6, 7 and 8th grade classes to teach a lesson. He talked about people judging others by their appearance (as in not looking like a model or a typical star, in your case) and dismissing them based on that alone. Then he played the video. He said the classroom went dead silent each time as they listened. They were all moved and had a lively discussion about being underestimated themselves and the importance of not underestimating others. Thank you, Susan, for the inspiration! Hi Susan i am very finicky when it comes to singers. Gosh u bowled me and Japan over with ur voice. Move over all those other singer ..U2>> even pavarotti. it is like i have arrived accidentally on the staircase of heaven..Julia Andrews was my childhood singer as the first movie i have seen was the Sound Of Music then after that been lambasting would be singers and great and money rakers one but i dont buy their cds or lps. until i accidentally linked the Britains got talents. it s like ur my angel directly singing to me.. Talk about a lame interview, the fault of the interviewer. Did he do anything besides watch the video once through? Did he prepare any questions? Jesus, on my worst day, given five minutes to prepare I could have done a better job than this. To have an opportunity to sit down with this talented, new-minted worldwide singing sensation and ask her a few meaningful questions -- and waste it. Here's a couple of suggestions: What was your job before you became unemployed? Have you had professional training in music? What is your repertoire besides "I had a dream?" What do you want to sing? OMG. Susan's voice was a total surprise right from the first note. It did bring a tear to my eye. It was shocking in a very beautiful way. What a pleasure to listen to such a beautiful voice. I've never joined a fan club, but this is certainly a worthy cause. It's not celebrating a person so much as the virtues. Susan has brought a lovely side of the world out we haven't seen in so long! She did something so amazingly sweet and beautiful that even those who deserved ridicule themselves for their rude tackiness are singing her praises, she has won over the world in a moment. Honestly, people think she's from God. He's hidden her from us to impress us with his plan for her life. Even in the interview she has poise. I've never even written the word poise before.

I don't watch these shows, I haven't watched American Idol in years, I stumbled upon this story under MSN News, and I can't stop watching it. I have occasionally caught the Idol try outs and how Simon just sits there expecting everyone to be horrible.

Susan you blew him away, those eyebrows about went into his hair line when you started singing. You also blew away the world. Everyone watching you in the audience and at home scoffed when you walked out. No one could believe there was anything beautiful in you. Then you shocked the world. Amanda said it, we were mean, cyinical, and wrong. You showed the world that beauty is never just on the outside, and you have one of the most God given beauties I've seen or heard in a long time. Whether you win the competition or not, you're already a winner to everyone that's heard you.

Anyone reading these comments and watching this beautiful lady that can only scoff and say well can she sing anything else, what have you done with your life? Be thankful for fleeting gifts like this and cherish them for what they are.

I have seen on several other comment sites people that have ridiculed this woman, and even some that called her mediocre, but not close to Broadway standards. I hadn't listened to the original versions of Les Miserable in ages, and I just limewire both Elaine Paige and the Broadway version of this song. Other than the fact the song was shortened a bit, they all are on these shows. She hit it right on the head, actually I preferred her version better than Elaine Paige's. I'm a huge Broadway and play nut, I love Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, and Les Miserable.

For all those I've seen, and I haven't seen any here yet, please go listen to the original versions of this song, and you'll know why this gem of a lady got such a reaction. In my opinion she out did Elaine Paige. I can only hope she continues to rock us, because fame can be very ugly in deed.

Again to Susan, keep your chin up, keep who you are, don't listen to people that think they can do better or should do better. You are an insperation to us all to never give up and keep reaching for those dreams.

Susan, I, like others have listened in awe and cried many a tear. I am just wondering if I am the only person that is equating you to Jenny Lind - voice of a nightingale, and considered "plain" to boot, but people said that when she sang, she was beautiful. Susan, I watched your performance over and over, and while you are a beautiful person already, when you start to sing, the transformation is amazing - your joy comes through and transforms you to almost "ethereal" - truly beautiful!

The thing I love about Susan is she has such a genuine heart. You can see that she's not doing any of this for fame or recognition, just for the love of singing, and I think that's so very beautiful. Susan, even if you don't win the competition, in my eyes you've already won the world over.

Susan, I heard your story on the radio and had to dash home to watch your video. BRILLANT! That's all I can say. I wrote to several people and linked them to your youtube video! I have watched it 20 times this evening and cry each and every time! I wanted to write, hoping that somehow you will read this. I was moved by your interview and admire how wished to keep your personal circumstances private. She's just great. When she said, "I'm 47 - - and that's just one side of me!" the audience thought she was odd. Here, she says, that, like many of us, she gets silly when nervous. By the end, her enthusiasm is infectious. Even Simon Cowell is chuckling at the end of her Happy Dance.

Being 47 clearly IS just one side of her. She's also sweet, straightforward, loyal, dutiful, quite funny & immensely talented. All in all, a little tiger HAS been hiding in this shy, self-effacing woman all these years. I'm glad we've all been given a glimpse of those other sides.

On June 7 and 8 he was NV, today June 9 he is SF...weird :-) If he is really from Blackburn, why didn't he offer Tommy help sending the DVD, or help organizing the roses plan,postcards from us to Susan, offer help to Jackie the lady from the pub and the Susamail,never brings news from the local newspaper 'West Lothian Courier' etc. etc. -my list is much longer.I just don't believe he is a fellow villager '-(

another thing about sobo/nv is that i looked back thru the submit a header blog that is so big to try to find what set sobo expecially off. I think it was Sat nite and nv was Sunday (is this right?)nv seemed very cordial and i thought nah they afint the same person, but it is after both got angry and lost control that they used the same mannerisms, especially in the chat room with sobo.
