Donny Osmond wants a duet with Susan
Posted by SBFII Admin on April 24, 2009

Donny Osmond is set to make Susan Boyle's dreams come true by recording a duet with her.

donny.jpg

After Susan confessed that Osmond was the inspiration behind her singing skills, she is now all set to meet her hero - and sing with him.

The Puppy Love hitmaker said, "I would die to do a duet with her."

And Osmond would like to make the humble Scot a part of his Las Vegas Donny and Marie revue, he said: "I would have her come up onstage and I would sing to her and I'd have her sing to me."

Earlier this week Elaine Paige also offered to sing a duet with Susan!

I think that is Great! You GO! Donny and Marie and I do love your show!

Singing onstage with Donny Osmond seem like it might be a fun idea for Susan--but recording with him? Why would Susan wish to record with anyone? THAT, she can do 'solo' and do very well, so...? It's one thing to sing with Donny live, or with Elaine, or with anyone else who 'wants to try getting in on her act', and another altogether to record with any of them. I'd prefer buying recordings of 'just Susan', to be honest.

Donny esmond I think the numbers hope or endless love would be great.

Allikat, I could not agree more with your spot on statements. I want to hear Susan sing. I want her magnificent voice to shine through unspoiled by another. Regardless, Susan would not be singing with these other artists, they would be singing WITH HER!
Posted by ArtCats on April 24, 2009
I agree with Allikat. I think it's cute and sweet that Susan's childhood idol Donny Osmond offered a duet, but Susan doesn't need a duet with anybody. Duets aren't all that great to begin with. They usually end up being singing competitions. A great song only needs one main voice. Until her career is established, that voice ought to be Susan's.

I am not an aspiring vocal artist, but I think if I were, it would be nice to have an opportunity to establish my own style, get my feet planted in my own niche or genre, before trying to branch off in several different areas. The duets will come in time, but it sure would be nice to let Susan have her own day in the sun first!!

YES, TEAM UP HERE IN LAS VEGAS WITH DONNY AND MARIE OSMOND. THEY ARE PROBABLY NUMBER ONE OF THE FEW DECENT, MORAL HUMAN FAMILY ACTS ON THE STRIP. BRING CHANGE TO THE STRIP IN LAS VEGAS. THIS CITY IS BROKE..GOING DOWN THE TUBES...SIN DESTROYS ITS SELF...LET HAVE FRESH GOOD CHANGE.

IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE...FOR FAMILIES TO ENJOY ENTERTAINMENT TOGETHER...ILLICIT SEX, PORNOGRAPHY AND PROSTITUTION, NOT TO MENTION PARADING ON STAGE NUDE IS NOT ENTERTAINMENT TO PEOPLE OF INTEGRITY, WISDOM AND ENLIGHTEMENT.
Posted by USAheartland on April 24, 2009
On the other hand, the exposure might help her cross over to different markets and age groups.

Having said that, I still think she needs to get her feet planted first. I don't know if anyone else agrees.

Hello Allikat, Texun and ArtCats: While I do agree that Susan can stand (and sing!) very well without the benefit of a duet with others, I also realize that this all is entirely new to her...from local karaoke/church singer to international superstar in a matter of days.

Sure, we'll hear *plenty* from her on a solo basis (and I think we all look forward to that!), but I say why not have some fun and sing with those who have served as her mentors over the years? If she'd like to do that as an adjunct to her solo career, I say go for it!

By singing with other stars, I think we'll have a great chance to see exactly how diverse her talent really is. The world is her oyster now, and I think that at this point, Susan can pretty much do whatever she wants. And we'll be listening :).

When I first saw Susan on Britain has Talent and heard her sing I was as many people were blown away. I had tears running down my face as I sat alone with my computer listening to an angel sing. I realized I was watching someone win the lottery in life. Susans life will be forever changed by her own pluck and talent. She has done wonderful things with what God has given her and I and my family wish her all the best in the world. Susan dont let this change you too much. love u

Alright way to go Susan she is looking so much better and I know she has to feel better about herself, I say go for it Susan she looks great! Surprising how it boosts one selfesteem with all the attention and some extra cash flowing in, She is a gifted woman with a beautiful voice and I think she deserves everything that is going to come her way!! Number one fan here Susan Boyle.

Please e-mail us members whenever Susan will be on a show (especially in the United States as that's where I live). I love the little changes she has made (eyebrows and hair) and don't think she should go for an all out Hollywood makeover. I've watched her BGT performance many times and I still get goose bumps when I hear it. The strength and power in her voice when she sings that song creates a feeling of wonder in me. To watch someone begin to live their dream is astounding!! I don't think she's a one-hit wonder. I've listened to all the other songs on the site and think her voice is only getting better. I can't wait to buy her first CD. Please include new versions of all the songs on this website. I can't wait for her next performance on BGT. I can't imagine what song she'll sing there. But I'm sure she will "rock" the audience as she did the first time. Congratulations Susan - live your dream now.

I want to hear her sing with Andrea Bocelli! That would be awesome but I would like to hear her sing with Donnie or anybody.. Just as long as she sings!
Posted by sdtreasure on April 24, 2009
Donny, as much as I love you (especially "Joseph") and your family you would be truly blessed to sing with this woman. She is totally "untouched, natural and REAL and has the voice of an angel". Please...do something with her.

when when ... tomorrow is not soon enough. I want Susan singing in my mp3 player.
Posted by willytoes on April 24, 2009
Hmmm... I'm not sure Donny Osmond's voice would be a good match for Susan's. OTOH, Andrea Bocelli or Josh Groban have vocal 'instruments' more suited to her talent. But, I agree with others that she's got to define her own presence first. (and I do hope some of these 'offers' aren't self-serving with others trying to grab a piece of the spotlight)

Hello everyone! I have to agree with finland20 (I think ;)); if I'm interpreting what s/he is saying correctly, I have a discreet and sinking feeling Mr. Osmond would like to boost his career internationally using our Susan to do it. Vegas notwithstanding, he hasn't been globally noticed for awhile. I'd rather she sing solo. Love here, love her voice - and don't want ANYONE to use her to feather their own nest.

I'm going out on a limb here because I am a huge Donny Osmond fan. I see no reason for Susan not to perform duets with people she wants to do this with. Providing they pick the right song, duets can be amazing, it's all in the song they chose. Other than being a member of Donny Osmond's fan club, I have never before had any desire to join a fan club. Susan's voice moves me in a way I have difficulty describing. The one thing being overlooked here is that just maybe Susan wants to do duets with some of these people, after all she is a fan of some of them as well, and it could also be a part of her dream to sing with them. It goes without saying that we want Susan to sing on her own, but let's not deny her the choices she will have coming her way. As long as the choice is Susan's I see no reason to discourage her from singing with whomever she chooses. As for "boosting other's careers", somehow I doubt that Susan would be offended by this. She strikes me as the kind of person who would feel happy to help anyone.

Careers are delicate things. They have to be properly managed. How many overnight sensations have turned out to be one day wonders? Susan has had an amazing bit of good fortune. I'd like to see her turn it into a real, long term, successful career. These duet offers are self-serving and not in Susan's best interests. Maybe later. Oh -- and I hereby offer to do a duet with her myself. :)
Posted by AMAZENMOON on April 25, 2009
AAAwww.... I dont know how a duet with Donny is going to sound, And I dont think I would buy it if it were put on CD,Donny was great when I was a teen, I have moved on to Amazing voices like Susan Boyal.I cant imagine those two voices together,Susan would have to take away from her amazing range or Donny will have to raise his.I do agree that if this is what Susan wants then let her continue to live out her dreams. I'm a few hundred miles from Las Vegas and would love to see Susan gaze at her childhood crush, she is so charming to look at! As for Donny.. I hope he is Sincere and isn't seeing $$$ signs. Susan needs no one to boost her career! That voice was created for only Susan solos. Donny fans dont get me wrong,I like him, just not into his music.I do think Susan and Marie would be funny to watch in a comedy show.

Simon Cowell to Susan Boyle: "Get yourself together" Reuters - April 24, 2009 5:24 PM PDT LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Television's Simon Cowell said on Friday he was embarrassed at his initial reaction to British singing sensation Susan Boyle , but warned that just because she is a hit with fans, she is not a winner yet. Cowell, the creator and a judge on "Britain's Got Talent," said he was fed up with stories about the hair, eyebrows and cats of the never-married 47-year-old Boyle, and he urged her to focus now on winning the television talent competition. "She has got four weeks to prepare for the biggest night of her life, and she has got to sing better than she sang before with all those expectations on her. But it could all go horribly wrong for her because there are so many other distractions," Cowell told TV reporters in Los Angeles. "Get yourself together sweetheart for the big one -- the semi-final. Shut the door, choose the right song and come back as who you are, not who you want to be," he said. Boyle, a spinster who lives alone with her cat, became one of the world's hottest celebrities last week after surprising judges with her rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" on the popular talent show. Her performance has been watched over 50 million times on YouTube. "We were all guilty on the panel of judging her before she sang, and we got it utterly wrong. You watch it back and it is embarrassing," said Cowell, who is well-known as the acid-tongued judge on TV talent contest "American Idol." "Britain's Got Talent" is open to anyone regardless of age or performing skills. It has 40 versions worldwide and the fourth season of the U.S. version, "America's Got Talent," kicks off on NBC on June 23. "I am seriously thinking now we should hold two more open auditions (of "America's Got Talent") off the back of Susan Boyle . You don't have to be a singer who is 47 and never been kissed, but just someone who says 'I think I am talented, and I don't think people are going to judge me because of the way I look'," he said. Recording executive Cowell, who has an option to sign Boyle if she wins the British talent show, shuttles weekly between Los Angeles and London as the judge on "American Idol" and "Britain's Got Talent." But he dismissed suggestions that his life was stressful. "It's only stress when it doesn't work," he said. "I don't feel under any stress whatsoever when something like the Susan Boyle thing emerges. It is honestly the best feeling in the world."

My Comment:

Her talent is so much bigger than that contest and Simon knows it. She could walk away from the contest and it wouldn't effect her future at all. She has ARRIVED. I know it, you know it and Simon knows it. The only one that doesn't know it is Susan. She is so unassuming that she doesn't realize that she has already molded herself into a fine artist and none of us need Simon's endorsement to buy all of her future recordings or all the seats to any of her shows. It must be a shock to Simon to have one of his discoveries eclipse his show after only one audition. You can't blame him for trying to hold on to her any way he can.
Posted by Lesa Marie on April 25, 2009
Of Course he wants to sing with her she's hot and he's not.I see for him and all the so called stars what they see.$$$$$$$ I think it's sad that Simon would use her for $$$$$. I pray she is smater than that. She need no-one to promote her she has already done that. All she would have to do is sign on the dotted line. GOD, will continue to be her director, if only she will listen to that voive inside instead of all the others who want to use her as a commodity. All they want is $$$$$$$$$$.And we all know it. May GOD keep blessing you and pointing you in the right direction. He will put the right people in your life. Have no doubt. Also be carefull for the world is also filled with evil people who would do anything to make a $ You are without a doubt a voice from GOD. Keep on keeping on. Yours Truly, Lesa Marie.

All the old has been singers want to sing with Susan just for the money, they don't care about her. I wish when she started walking off that stage she kept walking. She needs a good lawyer to guide her in the right direction.

We are excited for Susan. We unfortunately live in a world that is youth oriented and is, quite often, shallow, at best. The world needs to know that there are some "rockin' mamas" out there that are talented and over the age of 20! I've been a guitarist all my life, but took up the fiddle at age 49. It is never too late! ^_^
Posted by Bohemian Spirit on April 25, 2009
I see no reason why Susan can't do the duets *of her choosing* AND pursue a solo career. Anything that puts her in the spotlight and showcases her voice in a respectful way can only help her to build her career. The only real concern, in my mind, is that she pace herself and not get overwhelmed with the sudden feast of opportunities! Besides, singing duets is FUN. ;-) So let her have some FUN in the midst of all this!

I've been reading all these comments, and I don't think we should set up an adversarial relationship between her and Simon Cowell. They are a team. They both need each other. They are both business people. Susan wants to be a professional singer, and part of being a singer is being a business person.

As for her family ... they need to protect her and help her. But I think it would be very wrong for them to set up an adversarial relationship with Simon. He is on their side. Susan said in an interview that Simon was a good man and she trusted him, and she would like to work for him. All of us fans need to stay out of that relationship, and let Susan and Simon work out whatever business deal is good for the both of them.

It goes without saying that Suan needs a good lawyer.

It is definitely now "official" that BIG singers like to do a duet with Susan. Perhaps they should be in the "waiting list" for the meantime, so that Susan can have more time to maintain her good voice and to do what she needs to prepare for, whether she's wanting to go ahead with "Britain's Got Talent" or there's an excellent recording offer.

But it will be fantastic if she doesn't have to belong to the amateur group because a recording contract has been offered to her!

On the other hand, are the contestants under contract to stay in the show if they're not eliminated? That is to say, if there are any offers to sign her up, they will have to wait until the contest is over?

Whatever happens, let us -- all of Susan's fans -- continue to uphold her, support her ... and to those who are eligible to vote ... vote for her strongly! If she'll have to continue in the contest, make sure to vote, make sure she wins the whole lot! :-)

Warmest wishes from Western Australia.

DONNY! HELP SUSAN GET OUT OF HER BGT CONTRACT! We all know she doesn't need Simon Cowell, he's small potatoes compared to where Susan is right now. It just seems silly for her to continue on a talent show, when every record company is ready to sign her NOW. Let's face it, anything she puts out will go instantly platinum. Her numbers on youtube are just too big for anyone to ignore.

Howdy, There is no greater compliment concerning Susan's incredible talent than to have the stars she most looked up to over the years say that they would be thrilled to do a duet with her! Imagine being introduced by Elaine Page on the West End Stage...or on Broadway! Imagine headlining with Donnie and Marie in Los Vegas... I tend to believe that these stars recognize Susan's talent... and by their offers to sing with her, are honoring Susan's talent. That's a good thing, pards! The stars are coming out to recognize the newest star in the Heavens...Susan has made it! All her dreams will come true in the days, months, and years ahead! And...we will be the ones Blessed by these events.

I believe the Queen is eagerly looking forward to a visit from Susan Boyle...yes, I believe the Queen is looking forward to that occasion with great anticipation...we all are.

Adios for now. Talk to ya on down the trail.

Having a childhood idol praise you and express an interest in singing (or playing ball, or whatever) with you must be about the biggest mindblower EVER! Oh yes, I remember the Donny Osmond craze. While I wasn't too on board with that, I had friends who definitely were.

Sounds like Susan took some grief from the brothers regarding her Donny Osmond phase - but she who laughs last, laughs best!! I for one would love to see Susan do a duet w/ Donny (video, not just audio - ) because it would have to be such a blast, and a "coming full cycle" moment for her. Yet another moment to love!
