Susan taking a wee rest
Posted by SBFII Admin on June 14, 2009

ITV have confirmed that Susan will not be performing in Manchester tonight after being advised to take a rest.

405.jpg

A spokesperson said: "Following three sensational performances, Susan Boyle has been advised to rest. She sends her sincere apologies to her fans for not appearing in Manchester."

The spokesperson said Susan had not been ruled out of the rest of the 21-date tour across the UK, and it was hoped she would be fit enough to perform in her home country on Monday night at Glasgow SECC.

Lets hope Susan takes as much rest as she needs and does not feel pressured to rush back on the Tour.

You deserve a break. Folks keep supporting her no matter what she decides.

Well, she didn't have to go on the tour at all as she is still recuperating. So, it was a really nice surprise that she was able to appear on the first two days.

According to another report I read, Susan herself is disappointed but is taking her doctor's advice.

I'm sure she would love to appear in the Glascow event as that is where she started out.

Meant to say, that is a lovely photo of her.
Posted by susaphile on June 14, 2009
My honest opinion, and it won't be popular! Simon should be considering a restriction on Susan's appearances to the larger venues e.g. Glasgow, Edinburgh, etc. We're all very well-meaning in our desire to have our fill of her talent, but we're going to kill her! This entire experience has already taken it's toll on her, and if we continue to put so much pressure on her, we son't have her around for long - something nobody wants! Let her have a good rest and then onto a CD!

Some very nice comments from Diversity member Ashley:

*** The inspiration she gave people when she first walked on the stage, got laughed at and came out with that amazing voice, was incredible.

When we won, Susan was so gracious, she was dancing with us and said, "In rehearsals I saw something special with you lot. I knew." I said, "Susan, you couldn't have known. We didn't."'

>snip<

I wonder if the dancers were aware of her collapse. 'Obviously she was feeling the pressure,' says Ashley. 'Anyone would. At the end of the day she's just a human being. I think she just needs a bit of time to herself. Before the final, any little detail about her was blown out of proportion.

If any one of us walked along in the hotel and used a swear word once or twice no one would think anything of it, but because it was Susan Boyle, there was this huge thing made of it.

'Did we see a woman having a breakdown? Far from it. That joking-about, wiggling, leg-flashing person really is her. I don't think anyone was ready for what happened to Susan. I don't think they could have been. Before she was in that situation, who's to say she was vulnerable?

'She entered the competition because she wanted to make a record. Elaine Paige was her role model. She said she hadn't been given an opportunity to have a singing career, and hoped Britain's Got Talent would change that. The media built her up and then attacked her. I felt like giving her a big hug and saying, "Don't listen". ***

Even her fellow contestants acknowledge how unfairly she was attacked by the tabloids. Very nice sentiments from Diversity towards Susan imo.

I blame the tabloids for shattering Susan's confidence, at least temporarily. She did nothing, not a thing to deserve it. As Ashley said, they could swear, but every word Susan said was taken totally out of proportion.

I agree with juliad and Ashley from Diversity. She needs some time to herself and she should take it. I will never forgive the tabloids for what they did though.

Sorry, that excerpt is from an article in the Daily Mail. I wish we could hyper link on this site, and blockquote using basic html. It would make it so much easier to report the news around the internet. Any plans to do that?

You know, as much as we're all dying to see and hear Susan, the most important thing is that she is well. She has performed beautifully, but such a tour is very taxing and she's still recuperating. She WANTS to perform, but sometimes one's body just gets too tired and won't respond to our desires. I love her and just want what is best for her.

This day's rest will do Susan a lot of good. Tomorrow she wil be ready to rock Glasgow. I'm sure it's going to be Susantastic!!!

Hi fellow Brits in Britain, I'm in Canada now, IS it true that there is a rotation of acts and they ALL get a night or two off during the tour. No-one here seems to have read that. I have wierd dreams, which are very vivid and I go searching for things I 'bought' in my dreams. My husband has to tell me IF it was a dream or not. Honest:)

But I am SURE I did read about the rotation of acts.....just waiting for someone else who has read it, to confirm this. Sorry everyone, just need to know....:)

So it WAS only three performances---and she must not have performed in Sheffield in the evening, then. I know there has been some speculation as to whether Susan performed at Sheffield in the evening;---but the article states, "following three sensational performances,..."

Juliad ~ What you said at the end of that other very loooong blog, I agree. She probably will return to Manchester on her own when she can and give a free concert to all who were disappointed by this cancellation. It seems clear she is just as touched by her fans as there are by her. And I am sure if there is any way possible, she will be singing in Glasgow. The sentimentality factor is huge. Even those reputedly undemonstrative Scots will melt.

Oh. I forgot, thanks for another gorgeous picture of Susan at the top there. Patriciasart has a lovely scrapbook of Susan's pictures. I put it in my favourites. There is a very quick link to it on the last blog. Glad she did it, thanks again patriciasart, because I cannot figure out all those long lists of numbers, letters, and other stuff people tell us to type in to get to find out stuff about Susan.

Patriciasart, many thanks again, for making it easy to get to your wonderful scrapbook of Susan's pictures...:)

A quick repeat posting (posted earlier on the last blog) about the DVD of the Sheffield performance now available for download:

DVD of SHEFFIELD performance now available:

As promised, I have created an ISO (disc image) file of a DVD of Susan's Sheffield performance. This ISO file is hosted on a file hosting site. You may need to download an ISO to DVD 'image burner', but I have included details of that too. The ISO image will create an NTSC (US compatible) DVD that you can then take away and play like any other DVD on your TV. I have had to do a lot of compressing to get an ISO file that is easily downloadable, but the overall quality is still very good. You can use your DVD player's zoom feature (most have this) to zoom in because this video was shot from a distance. Here's what you need to do to create your DVD:

1. Go get the ISO from http://www.filefactory.com/file/ag62143/n/SUSANDVD2_ISO (choose the 'free download' option - don't use 'premium' because it will cost. There is a 30 second delay before the download link will show for adverts to display). BEWARE: this file is 143Mb!

2. Save it somewhere on your machine

3. If you have your own ISO to DVD burner software (most versions of Nero, Roxio, Cyberlink should have this feature, or use ImgBurn again if you downloaded it yesterday) then you can now use that to create your DVD from the ISO file

4. If you need an ISO to DVD burner (for free) then I would recommend ImgBurn: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/ImgBurn/1128426215/1 (Once on the download page, just click the blue 'Download' button, then save the .exe file, then run it to install)

5. To create your DVD with ImgBurn: Insert a blank DVD, run ImgBurn, Select 'Write Image File to Disc' option, click the folder image next to where it says 'Please select a file...' then browse to the SUSANDVD2.ISO file, then click the image at the bottom of the screen (with the green triangle in the middle of 2 pictures of a disc) to start creating the DVD. Let it do its stuff - it will tell you when it's done. (You may want to untick the 'Verify' tick box if you want your disc to be ready quickly).

6. Eject the disc, take it to your home DVD player and play it!

This should all work as I've described. If it doesn't, check you've followed the instructions properly.

Remember Simon saying that whatever Susan decides about any of this, she has his unconditional support? He is backing up his words with all kinds of provisions. But, no matter what decisions she makes at any time, there will be someone else out there who disagrees or is disappointed. That's life.

Susan is in a unique position. On the one hand, she is part of the BGT group and not even the first place finisher; on the other hand, she is in a completely unprecedented category by herself. Each aspect carries its own expectations which sometimes conflict with one another. For most of the BGT group, this is a sprint that will soon end as a pleasant memory. For Susan, this is a marathon that has only begun. She needs to run her own race.

This whole thing is totally ccontradictory, on the one hand the UK voted for Diversity, on the other hand they are claiming that they go to the show because of Susan and now that she did not perform are asking to be refunded.

I was announced well before hand that Susan would not perform in all cities, I don't see where the problem is sighhhhhhhh

I'm confused!

SCAPEGOATING SUSAN. What angers me about the way Susan's role in the BGT Tour has been handled is that BGT is making a scapegoat out of our Susan. In effect, Simon says that the buck stops with Susan when it comes to her participation in the tour's shows. Then, Stephen Mulhern, the shows' MC (as we say in America) let's it be known that, even when our Susan is waiting in the wings, he's never sure that she will appear on stage. What brave men these are! The extent of Susan's participation should have been determined, with medical advice, well before tickets were sold. If, subsequently, Susan had to back out of a performance or two... well, stuff happens. That's what a PR department is for. Oh yes, calling high-priced PR! Where are you?! Someone should tell Mulhern to shut up. If Susan is unable to go on, Mulhern should simply announce that Susan has suddenly taken ill and regrets that she can't be with her fans for the performance in question.

As far as I can make out from the schedule...there are only 2 performances a day on Sat. and Sun. wherever they are...is that correct?
Posted by 31Gallium31 on June 14, 2009
Great picture above! I've always thought the BGT Tour Schedule was quite grueling, for all the performers, and especially for Susan. So, good for her that she's getting a day off. All those lucky people to hear her live, I hope they keep their tickets as a memento. Her singing is beautiful as always, and she seems to be more comfortable in front of the audience as each new performance is posted. If she does a limited US tour, I can always hope for a DVD version of that tour if I'm so unlucky as to not see a live concert. Oh, that debut CD seems an eternity away....

Lovely, beautiful photo!

God bless our Susan, let her take some rest - it is much greater stress for her to perform, as she is a soloist( and also is a super-star),it is much easier for any, even small, performing group to come to the stage every day before the huge, eager audience. I am sure, that when she is rested, she will continue with the tour. It is good, that there is possibility for her to take off a day or too - that Simon is understanding and supportive.

All the best to everyone here,

susanwin

P-L-E-A-S-E....Can anyone out there get information regarding my constantly asked question about ALL acts getting a night or two or three off...? I hate it all to be on Susan...it's not fair.....I'll blog early tomorrow when it's earlier in England. They are 5 hours ahead of me and I dearly want Susan to be free of all this stuff.....I REALLY do believe....there is a chance for ALL acts to take time out. I will stop prattling on about this now, honest:) I just don't like to see Susan bearing the brunt of this particular embedded 'time out' situation which has maybe been there all these years when we were not following Susan. I will call my brother tomorrow...He'll be in bed now :) :) :)

This BGT tour is really becoming idiotic. Apart from the youngsters there maybe how can you expect a 48 years old with no experience in taking long tours and here I also fear for the granddad of 2 Grand. The construction of the tour stinks a lot. Why so much in such little time? These persons are "young athlethes" rushed into marathonwalkers in just a couple of weeks. And they all hop in a bus travelling hundreds of miles. That eats you up and then to perform and do all those dressing up things and make up. I can even imagine that after a week a lot of the youngsters are exhausted as well. You cannot send a granddad and an unexperienced and untrained 48 years old on a tour like this. That is madness and cruel. I really would like to know who was such a not genius with this totally not brilliant idea?
Posted by 31Gallium31 on June 14, 2009
@281165: lol, who else would put this schedule together? The guy with dollar signs in his eyes from the first minute he heard Susan sing. One guess....
Posted by jud on June 14, 2009
Susan you are great. Well seems like Simon is back is his old tricks. It wouldn't long and Susan will be oit from his thumb I mean with her own manangement team. He has rented that flat for her for five weeks then I assume she will be responsible for own affairs. She will earning a lot of money.

@ammo...I think people aren't answering about the days off because we don't know. It makes sense, and honestly wouldn't be critically noticed in the case of all but one or two performers. But, of course, Susan is in the spotlight with her every move monitored, so all of the expectations are placed on her and none of the others.
Posted by purplegothicqueen on June 14, 2009
Inevitably this will give rise to speculation now as to why she pulled out. There are too many shows and it must be a strain on everyone taking part.

There could be legal issues regarding the children performing as well.

Susan was "rumoured" to be crying in one part of her performance at Sheffield? Unsure if this was true, or whether nerves got to her.

I do think she was very confident and splendidly. I am sorry she has dropped out though as this will again bring out the critics.

I hope her true fans realise however that she was just advised to take things easy so that she could do a few more shows.

I hope the stress isn't too much for her. Unfortunately stardom doesn't come easy to anyone, and she has had such a tough ride already.

God bless her and I hope she is able to do some more performances.
Posted by purplegothicqueen on June 14, 2009

I ran her Biorhythm, and she is badly needing a rest today, and it was recommended on the biorhythm that she stay away from people today!

go to http://bio-chart.com enter her birthday (4-1-61) and you can see for yourself that she needs a rest.

Love to Susan, and to her fans,

Kalua, it is perplexing, isn't it? Britain voted for Diversity, yet Susan is the main reason people are buying tickets for the show?

Also, when 92FlowerPower92 posted her video of Susan at Birmingham done with her camera, on Friday night, she also posted videos of all the others who are on the tour.

Susan's video has received nearly 77,000 views & hundreds of comments in less than two days. Diversity's vid from the same source, has received about 3,400 views in the same time.

So, who's the star?

As for Susan needing more time to recuperate, I blame the tabloids fully for her needing any rest at all.
Posted by sabrina6850 on June 14, 2009
Ammo, I agree completely. Diversity do seem like a really nice group of guys. Susan seems to have really liked them also, and they her. She said she saw they had talent. I hope they perform together in the future. If Susan is doing a number that requires back-up dancers, how nice would that be?

I liked that Ashley said he wanted to give Susan a hug and tell her to ignore the nasty tabloids.
Posted by mdillow31 on June 14, 2009
As far as the BGT tour who could hold up to two weeks of that. The first time I saw that scedule I thought the worst. And on top of that Susan has to still make the album.

Sorry, my posting above should have been " total seclusion."

I made my ameteur stage debut here in Canada in my 40's tapdancing...It was fun. Did a bit of acting too. But later, in my late 40's I was asked to teach 8 others to tap (and I am a teacher, but not a dance teacher), for a local ameteur(sp?) production of "Stepping Out". I had to recoreograph, for the beginning dancers....take the lead, which I was not used to....my enthusiasm kept me going, even through half way through rehearsals my mom, in England, suffered a major stroke. Nothing I could do...kept on going....very quick changes during each act...story spanned 18 months...we had to show it in costumes etc.... Very exhausting mentally and physically....but I wouldn't have missed that experience for the world.

I am now living vicariously through Susan. I have nowhere near HER talent, no regrets tho' I DID have fun. Hey my dancing career COULD continue....having passed an audition for the Geritol Follies here in Canada last year....but don't know whether I have the stamina....

SUSAN has made me re-think that past comment....Why should'nt I give it a go. Aching back, arthritis and all. I am seriously beginning to think about getting my tap shoes back on again. Especially since the new ones were only worn once, for the audition. I had them specially shipped in to a store in England when I was visiting 'over 'ome. They came from Austriala 'mates....

TommyUSA we may get to meet. Susan is definitely making me think again about leaving this little dream of MINE on the back burner. If SHE can go through what SHE is experiencing to realize HER dream.....why am I making excuses...like...I can't make the 45 min. drive to rehearals twice a week. That now sound pathetic.

Susan is making me re-think....You'll never see me on t.v. but I really DO think I can go back and dance..... Thank you Susan :)
Posted by Kalua on June 14, 2009
@sabrina6850 I agree fully with you, had they voted for Susan the picture would have been completely different!
Posted by Donna T on June 14, 2009
I hope people start believing that Susan is not sick, or tired, or frazzeled or unable to sing. Actors and singers LOVE to be on stage. Yet, Susan has hired a manager who knows the ropes and how to manage her. I doubt if she is calling any of the shots now, only approving them.
Posted by Joan M - for Susan on June 14, 2009
@sabrina6850

nice to know Susan's Birmingham performance video is being the most. I am not surprised. Susan is the biggest winner from the BGT show, no matter who got 1st place by phone in votes, etc.

Personally, if you check out Susan's biorhythm (information is up a few posts), she REALLY NEEDS REST, and IMHO, the tabloids may not to be the blame for her rest on this day.

Blessings, JoanM

Oh Tommy, I should explain that....the Geritol Follies apparently travel all over the States and Canada putting on shows. I didn't know that when I auditioned....

Susan....thank you for making me rethink my future with my tap shoes..... What a woman she is..:)
Posted by GritsT on June 14, 2009
In the absence of any "real" news about Susan, I've been watching her audition video again....and again....and again! This may have been posted before, but the last time I watched it, I wrote down the time into the video that she started singing (1:56) and the time then that the audience was on their feet (2:16) -- so it took Susan exactly 20 seconds to have that audience in the palm of her hand! that is SO impressive..............what a woman! Just look at what can happen in a mere 20 seconds.....AWESOME! Lives can be changed in the blink of an eye.

purplegothhicqueen: I saw a comment on youtube made by someone who was at that show that she had begun to cry, but the lastest 2 vids I've seen showed Susan pretty close-up. It just looked like she momentarily forgot a few words. She did not look shaken up, but looked self-possessed and taking it in stride. I was relieved to see the latest vids, which were closer and not as bleary as the others of that particular moment. If you go to the video section here, you can see them. They are the first 2 vids of that night since they are the lastest ones loaded.

@JoanM - forSusan: My late and sincere condolences. Our former dog died 28th July 2008 at the age of 12. A Golden Retriever. It took us some time to even consider taking another dog. We will always remember Siebe, The Golden Retriever and his heritage of toys and bears with new toys and bears now belong to a match between a Border Colly and Jack Russel named Trixy taken from a local petshelter.

Is it my computer or is Susan's song being cut off early on the videos? Just curious.
Posted by Joan M - for Susan on June 14, 2009
@mary1001 The Dr. who made that comment, I think was a doctor from the mental health system, and was not Susan's personal Dr. at the Priory. And from his comments, it is true, Susan probably wasn't at Priory for 'mental health' reasons, but she was there for getting a rest. The British newspapers put stuff in that sells, and may not really apply to Susan.

Let us just know Susan is resting and getting the strength she needs to perform, whenever and where ever she chooses. I trust in Susan's Self-Authority, and pray for that.

It didn't look to me that she was crying when she flubbed a line. A quick hand to her forehead and a thumbs up and back on track and away she went. The video is posted here of the line flub and she looked fine to me, not upset in the least.

She needs a rest so she can deliver the good for the Scotland crowd and she does have her voice to take care of for the CD. She isn't 24 years old, after all.
Posted by daygo5 on June 14, 2009
I blame the organisers, to be fair they are thinking of susan, but they are also thinking of themselves, I wish common sense would be used ie why not organise things with the help of the medics, susan and the bgt people and come up with a plan for instance perform one day, off the next, or do two shows and have 2 days off, but do it in advance so the fans will not be dissapointed, am sure the fans will be understanding. So in short organise a rota that is sensible keeping in mind susan and the fans who want to see her, even if it means doing one more or none. what do others think.
Posted by Casey'smom on June 14, 2009
Mary1001, I believe that you are right. Having gone through that myself for totally different reasons (work not fame), it takes a very long time to recover. My doctor only gave me 3 weeks off, then I went back to work and and 5 months later I ended up having to be off work for 3 1/2 months on sick leave because I should have been given more time to recover the first time. That she was back within a week is very disturbing.

Just taking a vacation from work which a lot of people do, take 2 weeks or so a year, it takes a week just to wind down and relax and then enjoy the vacation and not many of us have to deal with the stress this lady has to deal with. I can't even imagine my life doing such a total 180 degree change.

@281165

Thanks for sharing about your beloved Siebe, your Golden Retriever, who passed away 28 July 2008, at age 12. Nice that in time you were able to adopt Trixy from your local petshelter, and give her Siebe's toys and bears, and new toys and bears.

As for me, the pain of loss goes on and on. But it has only been 2 months since Keea passed away.

I didn't even get 'into Susan' as I was caring for Keea, till he was unexpectadly euthanized by our vet on 4-18-09. I expected to get pain medicine that day, when we took Keea to the vet. But I asked the vet the question I now wish I had never asked, "When to know the time when to put Keea down." And vet said NOW, and then did it. Husband was in agreement, I started crying and sobbing so hard and loud, the staff told me to cut it out it would upset my dog! Well, I went through weeks of 'pet loss grief chat rooms'

Eventually looked up Susan's Audition video; the rest is history. Susan has helped me with the grief. But, seeing my Keea's photo up there, which I just did today, is making me cry each time I look at him. When will the grief end? (I think I need to go back to the pet loss grief chat room)

Thanks for understanding, Joan

I, too, love this particular blog photo! The comment from ammo above regarding a 'rotation of acts' seems like something I've run across in news articles myself, as well. Looks like when folks purchase tickets to any of these BGT tour performances, they cannot be positive which acts will actually appear on any certain evening or afternoon show. I think that goes with the territory, because this BGT tour itinerary seems just plain wacky.

But it's only the third BGT tour; let's hope that in future BGT tours, some sort of kinder, more respectable tour itinerary can be arranged. One which doesn't run back and forth so much across the UK, but instead gets the venues lined up and in order so that distances traveled between each can be kept to a minimum. And, so that an entire day off traveling and performing can be had by all, every 4th or 5th day. Plus, no two days in a row with two performances each--sheesh! If there MUST be two performances in one day, then the next day needs to be a full day off! People need that, or this tour is gonna have plenty of folks becoming ill, what with all the to-ing and fro-ing and general lack of rest! Riding on a bus is NOT 'rest'.

That being said, I still hope Susan will be able to perform at all the Scottish venues plus in Belfast and Dublin as well; being both Irish by nationality and Scottish by birthright, it seems like those performances might be the important ones for her. But, only time will tell.

LeeAnn, yes, the video is cut short so it's not your computer. But doesn't she sound wonderful! And isn't she beautiful!

I read someplace that Susan signed herself out of the clinic - but we all know you can't believe a thing you read.

Another reminder, in case anyone missed it the other day:

I now have high quality mp3 versions of all 3 of Susan's BGT Songs: Audition, Semi-Finals, and Final. The audition has been mastered from the BGT DVD (available in the UK only), with the other 2 being Dolby Digital mixes of the original satellite feed. These sound vastly better than any of the YouTube clips, and are more than good enough for you to create a CD from. I have ZIPped the 3 mp3 files into a single ZIP, which is now available for you to download from:

http://www.filefactory.com/file/ag60e2c/n/SusanBoyle-All3Songs_zip

(choose the 'free download' option - don't use 'premium' because it will cost. There is a 30 second delay before the download link will show for adverts to display).

@Patriciasart - your slide show is phenomenal! WOW is about all I can say. Thsnk you so much for sharing this with us.
Posted by PWattis on June 14, 2009
@fossilbarb, absolute agree. I will be very upset with people around me if they do that when I hear Susan live. Its distracting both to the performer and the audience members trying to hear.
Posted by ammo on June 14, 2009
@daygo5, I do believer there IS a rota. I've had it confirmed by someone else. I read it in the papers....many fans missed this, but ALL acts have nights off.

@JoanM I understand what you are going through. I have had to put to sleep, over the years, 3 cats and 3 dogs...one dog is still with us...but has arthritis and is slowing down. It's sad I know....Stay with Susan, she'll give you the lift you need. She HAS done so for many fans in the very short space of time we have got to know her.

I wouldn't want to go into a grief room. Didn't know they existed...I need to be uplifted...and Susan does that for many of us.

You maybe haven't been on the site too long...but many of us have gone through loss and hospitalization ourselve...

Susan Boyle is one of the best medicines I have taken in as long, long time :)

JoanM,

I know how you feel, it's devastating, like losing a child. I lost my first Casey and little Sophie at the same time in an accident and the only way to recover for me was to go get an other furbaby, All from the same parents, different litter) the Casey I have now who will be 9 on July 2nd.

@PWattis, thanks, I think I just might:)

Fossilbarb - agree with you about the hooting during the performances! Nice to see that the young ones admire Susan as they do, but it isn't an appropriate setting for what should be confined to a rage-type outing!

@Casey'smom-

Susan and her fan site has put some joy into my life. I don't know what I would have done with out Susan at this time in my life.

Wow, losing 2 furbabies unexpectedly by accident! I don't know you coped. But getting another furbaby from same parents sounds like a big help. Casey sounds sweet, and happy birthday #9 on July 2nd.

I have a very, very geriatric Tibetan Mastiff (about 14.5 dog/ 110 human years), who I thought was going to pass yesterday, as she wouldn't get up till 1:30 PM. But after she got up, I stopped crying. My yougenst Tibetan Mastiff will be 10 on 6-27.

Susan and this group is helping me so much to get through all this grief.

Julia D , I agree with you completely. Susan feels obligated to perform but she did not pick the schedule, or the number of dates. I think she should only do a few, big ones, and leave it at that. She needs to be given more control over her destiny, I think they're trying.

Even THE SUN is fairly positive about Susan's 2 days of rest!!

FRAGILE Susan Boyle dramatically dropped out of the Britain’s Got Talent tour yesterday.

Worried bosses persuaded her to rest to avoid another meltdown.

The singer, 48, who spent four days in the Priory clinic earlier this month, was due on stage twice in Manchester.

But bosses whisked SuBo back to a secret location in London after Saturday’s double gig in Sheffield.

Susan, who fears she is letting down her fans, has been warned against overdoing it and agreed to take a “rest day”. She had received standing ovations at each of the opening three tour shows.

A tour spokesman said: “Susan has been advised to rest.

“She sends her sincere apologies to her fans for not appearing at Manchester’s MEN Arena.”

Bosses are monitoring the singer’s health and state of mind to avoid a repeat of the controversies that plagued her before and after the BGT final.

An insider said: “It has been nerve-racking but she knows she has to keep it together.”

Susan is keen to get back on stage as soon as possible — for her Scotland homecoming performances in Glasgow tonight and Edinburgh tomorrow.

Our insider added: “She is determined to return for at least one of the Scottish gigs — her life revolves around singing.”

Plans are going ahead for Susan’s album, which will be out by Christmas. But she has now been advised to focus on the tour before the recording sessions.

The source added: “She has been reassured her health and happiness are top priorities.”

I'm an avid figure skating fan and usually go to the championship tours each year. The "standard" program you receive plainly states that these are the skaters on the tour, but you probably won't see all of them, as they take time off during the tour. With the grueling schedule of BGT, I am sure, especially with Susan, that this is probably the case with this tour also. I, too, am disappointed when I buy the ice skating tickets when my "favorite" skater doesn't perform -- but that's the chance you take when you buy the tickets.

To all here who have had their beloved pets pass away...condolences. Went through that too with my dog pal Honey of 17 years. Very hard. But time does make it easier. And there are many pets out there waiting for your love and attention, if you can go that way. We can all understand how Susan feels so attached to Pebbles, especially when you live alone. I hope just the two of them are enjoying a fine, quiet day together. of rest.
Posted by Lonnirose on June 14, 2009
Pretty good article from The Sun, considering the source. Maybe Simon has bought them out!!!

Just watched her "up-close" video from Sheffield with joy. Looked to me like when she forgot her lyric there for a second, her quick wit took over. Notice she gave a thumbs-up when it came to her - the audience loved it and cheered all the more. She's marvlous!
Posted by vicki smith on June 14, 2009
Tours are marathons of misery- nobody is really up to the grueling schedules and for Susan I have always felt it would be a disaster in the making. Even without her "meltdown" this tour would be a bad idea. Do we want her on "uppers" and "downers" as so many performers are? Also, she should not be separated from Pebbles for more than a few days at a time (at most). What is wrong with her doctors and Simon? Leaving the decision up to her is wrong, and gives the tabloids the opportunity once again to call this lovely and sensitive lady a "prima donn a. Why can't her handler understand that she can do DVD's CD's, and a few concerts and tv appearances each year and that will get them the profits they crave? She needs a lot of peace and quiet (don't we all) with a small group of those who truly care surrounding her. She needs the opportunity to allow a romance to develop and grow if the right man comes along- not the kind of destructive career that ruins so many stars. Can any of us think of a single celebrity who could handle what Susan has endured these last couple of months?
Posted by ammo on June 14, 2009
Just come back to site. vicki smith I mentioned earlier that I do believe, and it has been clarified by another fan, that ALL contestants have nights off during the tour. The decision is not left up to her. Everyone on the tour is getting nights off. The press are just focussing on Susan for some reason. That is really sad.

I am reading about a slide show by patriciasart but I don't know where to find it. Could someone advise please.

Our SuBoStar is incredible... she has turned into a "beautiful princess." :) I am thrilled for her and so glad she is taking care of herself and doing only what she is able, and that she apparently has surrounded herself with those who can help her do that. Wow, what a few weeks she has had! Her mind must be reeling! :)

Ammo... yes the press has decided to focus on Susan and try to trash her. But one thing my friend pointed out and it is true. Usually the press tears someone apart and gets by with it. BUT SuBo's fans are "fighting back" in full force to support her! Her CAT is more famous than those negative press writers will ever hope to be LOL.

@JoanM - forSusan: I know where you are now, trust me, done this for 4 times in the last 30 years. All the dogs I remember well, from Remi, the first one, then Robbie the second one who turned 17 years of age. Then Enya, yes, names after the Irish wonderwoman, then Siebe, two birds canaries. It is hard. All the pictures of those dogs are on the piano here and you will remember them even 40 years from now; their habits, their specialities. But please consider another dog now in need of shelter by a good person as you and your family. Not now, but when you are ready.

As long as people can see Susan on yutube and other internet websites, we don't have to worry about tabloid and other media. We can know her status by ourselves. Form Susan's example, I start to deeply realize how media so casually and without mercy treated their news and people they reported.

Yes, Susan should take all of the rest she needs, God bless her. When I saw the schedule for this tour, I thought oh my, it's every night except towards the end when there is a day or two of not performing. We still love Susan even if she cannot perform a tight string of performances.

And I agree with Vicki Smith: The tour is a marathon reguested by an idiot who thinks that people who for example jog or brisk walk for 3 times a week for about 2 miles are now expected to do a marathon. It is sickening, it is madness, it is cruel. Remember the granddad of 2 Grand? This should stop. They should separate AGT en BGT with at least six months, so that all can go a much easier way. This smells like people not knowing too much about other people. How on Earth can you even think about a tour like this. I predict that in one week even the youngsters are starting to crack.
Posted by vicki smith on June 14, 2009
When I looked at the schedule on the BGT site, I saw the same kind of scheduling so many handlers boast about their clients performing; it is disgraceful. Rushing from town to town. hotel/motel after motel room, beds they're not used to, meals hastily taken often resulting in heartburn, headaches from stress, worries about blawed performances because of exhaustion, sitting on the tour bus for hours and hours til one's back aches... and day after day without a break. I can't understand how thse young children are permitted to participate in this, either. I come from a show business family and I know more than a little about this. One of my uncles was a personal manager for two Academy Award winners and he NEVER would have approved of this kind of abuse for any of his clients.
Posted by Fran&Ann on June 14, 2009
I agree that susan needs her rest. She seems to be in a very fragile state. And it seems that they're handling the situation better this time. Did anyone see the article in Stv today? It said that Simon is getting a special pastport for Pebbles so she can travel to the states with her!!!!!
Posted by Bobber2 on June 14, 2009
Just wondering...what really do any of the acts from BGT get from this tour...it seems like alot of running around for what ? It seems to me like some of the young singers like the Hollie Steels etc well they might get some parts in the West Ends musicals etc, fine...but those that produce those things already know about them and im sure have their phone numbers if interested...Susan will have a good musical career regardless as to whether she does anything more with BGT ...so I don't see the need to keep all these other acts alive for the British people. What will they get out of it anyway ?
Posted by wood dulcie on June 14, 2009
Really think it unfair to ask any one on the BGT tour to do the schedule that is laid out before them. Susan needs to do what she can and not worry about the rest. Thank God someone is taking care of her.
Posted by purplegothicqueen on June 14, 2009
Bobber2 - publicity. That is what the acts will get from this. Only by lots of publicity can they get anywhere. If they fade into oblivion - nobody will remember them. By performing live they are showing prospective agents what they can do. There is more than just Simon Cowell out there who can offer them work.

I just read on a forum that Susan was actually booed in Sheffield when she first came on? Now I was listening to the video and I could hear the cheering, and I remember saying that some of the cheering could be mistaken as booing. Since the person making the noises was the one who loaded the video on youtube I take it he/she was not booing but cheering, but it sounded like booing. I wonder if it was misinterpreted as booing. This could've knocked Susan's confidence.

I really hope she isn't too stressed. Unfortunately stars have to do tours, perhaps not such punishing ones at first though, but they still need to be able to perform live.

Susan has had it so tough and when I see how some stars behave in comparison to her, it really makes me angry. Such a wonderful woman being treated so disgustingly. It's a pity her critics didn't put their "talents" elsewhere.

Susan I applaud you - you're a stunning performer!

Reinder and Vicki, you are so right, after a grueling competition putting them on the road immediately after, young children and older folks is ridiculous, no worse than that, it's inhumane.

What about the children, shouldn't they have still been in school for the past few months?

Purple, I have watched that repeatedly and I can't hear any booing. Even if there was a little, it probably didn't bother Susan - after all, she did another performance and was said to be superb. Performers have to expect a few unsavories, but I'd like to smack the ones who mess with our Susan.

Speaking of the second performance in Sheffield, is there a video of it somewhere? I haven't seen anything about it.

After reading a few blogs here I have to agree with some wondering if BGT should even have a tour....as one pointed out about the dear elderly gentlemen from the 2 Grands....once again a fine gentlemen but is it sensible for somebody in their middle seventies to be put under the presure of doing two shows a day without any stage experinece of being used to such ? Well let me suggest this that if indeed Susan does remove herself from more or all of this tour I wouldn't say "That's too bad" Nope it might actually be a good thing...then she can as she said before continue with her baby steps first a CD [which can be done in a very relaxing way] and then periodic appearances singing a couple of songs here on one occasion and then some other date in another ...in other words testing the waters out one step at a time. In other words slow the train down and find out what she's comfortable with :-)
Posted by Casey'smom on June 14, 2009
Lonnirose, I never heard it either and IF there was some I bet with all the noise and positive uproar she didn't even hear it. The tabloids have so little to say they are creating b**ls***t to sell their rags.
Posted by CatsAloud on June 14, 2009
Re comments on Susan Boyle not appearing live at Manchester - it does not surprise me at all and is probably the correct decision. Of course it must be very wearing to all the performers on the BGT tour to have to perform such an intense schedule. However, Susan is a solo performer and has a voice that needs protecting. I imagine it is the need to look after her voice that is preventing her from performing at every live gig on the tour (I don't think it is due to her mental condition). This combined with the fact that she is under pressure to do recording for album etc as soon as possible.
Posted by ammo on June 14, 2009
@Kalua, you are better at this than I am, and obviously Misti is too. I just need the KISS method...Keep It Simple Stupid! lol

CatsAloud, it is getting through to us all now that ALL acts are allowed nights off during the tour, not just Susan. Press are just focussing on Susan for some obvious reason...

Misti, I spent most of last week doing the very same thing. I don't know if they pay much attention or not, but we have to keep it up till they stop! Sooner or later you'd think they would start playing on the right side of the team. Quite a few of us have even threatened to boycott their sponsors - that's how we got a disgusting ad off google. Why they would want to demean anyone as precious as Susan is beyond me - she has never hurt a soul in her life.

LR goto the Scotsman and read their report on the show..a cellphone vid may not capture sound from all over the arena. But that doesn't really matter to me because the majority of the audience was eating out of Susan's hand. That being said, I seriously think Susan's health is why she is taking this rest and time off. Lets face it the Lady is a valuable commodity to many ppl and maybe the economy of GB.
Posted by patb on June 14, 2009
I think we all knew that ALL of those back to back performances, and traveling to a new place every day, would be very grueling on anyone, much less Susan who has only become famous in two months! and had to deal with contract negotiations, clothing, traveling, PLUS singing. Since she is the most unique, and sudden entertainer, we have ever known here is what I think whoever runs the Britain's Got Talent should do, but I don't know how to tell them this: Instead of just telling the cities that she is not going to perform that day and they can get their money back, I think Susan would want to be more personal with it, so why can't they video a personal message from her wherever she is, and play it on a big screen in each of the arenas that she can't make? She could be her own self, and say something like, "I really wish I could be there with you tonight, but this is a very grueling schedule, so while I catch my breath here a moment, I just wanted to say that while I am getting a little rest, I've been practicing some of the songs I'm thinking about recording later, so here is one and I'm wondering what you think about it?" She could sing it, sitting there, acapello, much as she did when she was being interviewed by Larry King and a few others, but she could sing the whole first verse instead of just a few words. She could even have the music in front of her. She doesn't have to have these big stage productions right now, and especially when she has to wear the same dress to each one, and sing only the same two songs... She probably knows LOTS of songs, and would enjoy singing some other ones more than repeating what she's done the last two days... what do you think? I would love it.
Posted by patb on June 14, 2009
She could preface each video with Hello to Everyone at ___ Manchester, or wherever else she can't perform.

Susan, who sang only in her church choir, and did Karouke, was all of Sudden thrown into the BGT gruelling schedule having to rehearse constantly and perform, now has to rehearse daily and do an unrealistic schedule of performances, as the rest of the BGT performers, has to be very hard on her vocal chords.

I agree, that she has to slow down on the rehearsing and performing, singing, like weight training has to be paced, you can't go from moderate activity to extreme activity lest you create severe injury.

Thanks Lonnierose for the info. Glad it isn't my computer. And yes, does she ever sound wonderful and she is very beutiful. I put her up as my screensaver and I love it when I get on the computer and there she is!!!What a wonderful, special spirit she has and I feel very blessed to have found out about her and enjoy watching her story play out before us on videos etc. Thanks to all those who put up all the videos and webs to go to to find out the latest on our girl.

What the performers get out of the tour--I read in one of the papers that they get 500 pounds (about $800) for each performance.
Posted by CatsAloud on June 14, 2009
Singing with the force that Susan does, that must put alot of strain on the larynx. I am sure that is a major reason why she is taking breaks on the tour (because she has to get her single and album out fast as well at the same time). I think she will do the Scottish and Irish gigs for sure.
Posted by ammo on June 14, 2009
patb, I keep reiterating that everyone on the tour gets nights off during the tour, not just Susan. It has been in the newspapers....and I am not the only fan who read it. They are not just 'pampering' Susan.
Posted by BethInTheUSA on June 14, 2009
On this page of the Scotsman, there is a poll which wants to know how many people were "gutted" that Susan didn't win BGT. 68% were! "Gutted" is a pretty strong description, too, wow!

Oh, I didn't know the others can take time off, too... that's good.
Posted by ammo on June 14, 2009
If they put Susan on the big screen when she wasn't performing live...then all the other acts would have to have the very same treatment....that doesn't seem to be how the BGT tour works or has every worked...
Posted by ammo on June 14, 2009
patb: I didn't know at first....but just want to reassure you that they are, apparently, ALL getting days off it's only right with such a gruelling schedule. Sad to say, no-one who has tickets actually knows beforehand...so someone is cashing in here big time eh?
Posted by terijay on June 14, 2009
BGT is a vehicle to make money....unlike American Idol, where the contestents are ( by the rules) no older than 30 and no younger than 17) they do a grueling tour also...but, it didn't take a freaking rocket scientist to see what a disaster this "tour" was in the making...in advance. It seems to me that Miss Boyle felt the obligation to the fans- and tried! She was brilliant though, in her first three shows....obviously, it took a lot out of her to even show up.... She is beautful in that picture above. What a remarkable change from the "dowdy" pix in the beginning..but, I wonder- at what price? Oh, and the stories out this morning that she is getting $8,000 a minute are ridiculous also....that is for FUTURE CORPORATE PERFORMANCES.....SUSAN. You are so talented! Get better as that is all that counts! Your talent has been dormant to the world for 47 years, so a few days or weeks or even months will not matter. we will be here.
Posted by ammo on June 14, 2009
patb: hope my comment didn't come over to you as cold. When I just re-read it...it sounds that way...I can't put my tone of voice into the postings, wish I could, and my smile too :)
Posted by patb on June 14, 2009
ammo, oh, you're right, then the others would have to be put on the big screen also if they weren't there, guess it wouldn't work, gets too complicated. That's sad that no one knows for sure who might be performing, but I guess they can get their money back, which is a good thing.
Posted by Lonnirose on June 14, 2009
If they'd known Susan would not be at the Manchester performance, the ticket sales would have been dismal. LO

@Kalua, I'm new to all this, but do you have to type those whole links out? I tried clicking on them but it doesn't work. I wrote some down...typed them in,tried them out and got absolutely nowhere. I am a real beginner at this...:)
Posted by ammo on June 14, 2009
No patb....it's our understanding that they CAN'T get their money back...that's the point....someone is raking the cash in bigtime....
Posted by Bobber2 on June 14, 2009
The poster Patb makes a great point...why should people think that you have to have a singer have to even know the lines of every song they sing....do choirs do that ? Let me put it this way it wouldn't bother me a bit to pay to see an entertainer who has song sheets [today it would be a teleprompter] showing them the next words they sing....what's it matter...you might even find the singer gives a better singing perfomance for that's one stress removed from them....sure there would be some areas it wouldn't work like for musical plays etc, but my point is it always doesn't have to be a certain way. I when listening to a singer am more interested in hearing how their voice can soar as compared to how much they can mentally recall or memorize.

Maybe, if it's not to much trouble, you can re-post with the direct link for those that didn't see it in other time zones?

God Bless Susan and this fan site. Thanks for sharing your memories of all your beloved pets. How nice their photos are on the piano. I still have Keea photos all over the refrigerator door. We have one dog who will probably pass this summer or before winter, not sure when. I think I'll just deal with the 10 year old who will remain, as he is already more than a handful at 154 lbs. Who knows the future. These dogs are all rescues.

ammo, you asked if you had to type all of those long links in, NO, just drag your mouse over only the letters in the link, then put your mouse on top of what you have highlighted, right click, click Copy, then I open up a new screen in Internet Explorer and Paste that link at the very top of the page where the http:// is, or paste it into the empty spot on your Search Engine (like Google) Does that help, or is it clear 'as mud' as they say.
Posted by CanadianBill on June 14, 2009
Hi All - I notice quite a few people concerned about the 'booing'..... it did not happen when Susan came out and performed, but rather, at the beginning of the show when the names of all the performers were called out. I strongly suspect they were very much told to shut it by those around them then and there. When she did perform later, there most certainly was no booing. Sorry I don't have a link to the article, but where it was mentioned it definitely said that's when it happened which is why we do not hear it on her performance video.
Posted by Tashinamu on June 14, 2009
Susan:

I don't watch those shows you were on nor have I ever joined a fanclub. I just wanted to leave a message for you as a 57 year-old woman who has had some achievements and many failures. Just keep going in the style of Tashinamu. Drown out all the background noise until all that you hear is the sound of your own golden voice expressing the emotions in your heart.

And to quote some old-fart, but pretty wise Roman:

"Illegitimus non carborundum est".

You're fabulouse! That's all you need to know.

Watching from afar and wishing for your success.
Posted by pottedferne on June 14, 2009
thats what is in the Scotsman CanadianBill... you have to figure that not everybody was there to see Susan and some were rooting for their "home team". It isnt the end of the world. Susan has much bigger fish to fry in her future.
Posted by vicki smith on June 14, 2009
I believe that all performers were supposed to do all the shows- the idea being that the audience would see their respective favorites perform. Susan is very vulnerable, emotionally and has been probably her whole life; stress brings out in her some behavior that her fellow-villagers have deemed "strange"; understandable because of the oxygen deprivation. She is certainly intelligent so there are other reasons that she is unable to have a place in the work force. We know it isn't because of laziness- she is a wonderful-hearted soul who volunteers her time to help others.

I agree that performers need to do concerts, but they don't really have to go on tours- especially for weeks at a time. Susan would do best traveling by car for the short distances, or by plane for the longer ones, accompanied by someone close to her and by Pebbles. And she understandably tends to get homesick. When we travel we tend to feel a loss of security; she needs the familiarity of surroundings she's used to, and being away from everything other than for a few days at a time is sure to stress her out. And with this tour she is running in to some of these classless individuals who boo her- and knowing this might continue to happen doesn't help things. It is bad enough for people to jeer during auditions, but to go to a concert where the winners have already been chosen and do such a thing should result in the individuals doing this to be tossed out without a refund. It seems there needs to be an announcement at the beginning of each concert that this will, indeed be done. What a shame that people can be so rude and petty. I wonder if some of them might not be drunk-- and sorry, I think the word "inebriated" is too high-class a word to describe their state. It is certainly obvious a good number of bloggers on some of these sites are. And Sussan is particularly fragile now-- she surely doesn't need to experience this garbage now. It's this particular tour that will occasion this; it would hardly happen elsewhere, since there would be no connection between th other audiences and voters re BGT.

I cannot overemphasize the importance of Pebble's being with her as much as possible; this cat has been her constant companion and friend and is, in a sense, her "security blanket". I sure as heck wouldn't welcome any length of time away from my two little dogs.

If Susan is going to maintain her health, she needs regular exercise every day, enough sleep and a healthy diet; if these criteria aren't met, she could very well be a candidate for a heart attack. And she needs to lose weight- but not from stress- but from what I stated above. She looks darling as she is- but the kind of stress she is undergoing coupled with her weight could lead to a stroke. I know all of us here want her to be happy and healthy far more than we want her performing- but let's hope that we can have both! :o)

Just a repost from April for those that are new and wonder about this site, how it came to be, and if they know about us.

The Huffington Post Posted April 23, 2009

Steve Rosenbaum The Untold Susan Boyle Story

Ok, by now you've heard the story of Susan Boyle, the British churchlady/spinster who wowed the crowd at Britian's Got Talent. If you haven't - then take a minute and look at the clip to understand the pure power of what an unexpected talent can do. But the Susan Boyle story has a lot more going on than just the music phenomenon, thought that's interesting to be sure.

Take, for example, the story of Paul Wood. Paul Wood is a construction worker in London, who's got the bug for building video networks on the web in his spare time. So on Saturday night in London last week Wood decided on a lark that this Susan Boyle woman he read about might 'take off' when Britain's Got Talent would be broadcast. He'd seen her in the auditions and decided to take a risk. He bought the URL Susan-Boyle.com and Sunday night - moments after the broadcast - he had a fan site for her up online.

What Wood didn't know and couldn't know was that some how Susan Boyle connected with a wide variety of people in a deep and powerful way. Why is that? First, you need to see the clip to understand. We can spend a sec and try and psycho-analyze the public: For some, the music is what it's all about. For others, it's the ugly duckling who spreads her wings. And then, it may just be given the economy, with people feeling so beaten up, that watching an underdog totally triumph was just too hard to resist. It hardly matters. She totally owned the gig - and now she's a rocket. And the best part? This isn't some contrived media event from the pop-culture factory. This is real.

Susan-Boyle.com has created a pop-up destination where people can connect, share stories, record videos, and watch Susan Boyle's video experience. It is a feel good site with most comments gushing with enthusiasm and support. There is something that feels good about watching a community grow organically around such a positive media moment and personality. We just don't have enough of this stuff these days.

Four days later he has a website that is getting close to a million page views a day and has over 12,000 registered members.

The Wall Street Journal reports here that the site's fast growing traffic is the #1 site for Susan-Boyle fans worldwide, providing a unique mix of network clips, user-submitted video testimonials, and a live twitter stream of Susan Boyle fans that updates round the clock from a fast growing worldwide fan base.

It is also worth pointing out, that only in the technologically adept world we live in could such an event be possible. Millions of people flocking to a virtual destination and forming a "flash mob" style community - never meeting each other, but finding a real outlet to come together and share in the moment. Who says technology is making us numb to personal interaction?

Hi Grits T, good observation regarding the time Susan started singing during the audition and exactly when the audience exploded.

I wish that someone could catch up with the laughing girls (one had a ton of eyeliner on) when Susan said she was trying to be a professional singer; the three girls were snickering. I'd *really* like to know what those chickies think now. Bet the snickering has stopped.

@JoanM: my heart goes out to you and everyone else here who has lost one of their furry babies. I have a 13 year old cat-my bub- but 3 weeks ago my other 3 year old puss went missing. It's so hard just not knowing what has happened. I wouldn't have gotten through many days nearly as well without the uplift I get from Susan and from coming on this site. It has really helped me to remain so much more "together", and helped me come to terms with things. I just pray someone actually found him and he is alive and happy. From past experience, with the cats I have loved and lost, time does heal, but you never truly get over the loss.

And, BTW, my 13 yr old puss is a real "vocalist", and hardly a day goes by when she doesn't have phone conversations with my close friends and family, and they always put their "babies" on the phone to talk to me too!

Good reminder, Tommy... now if Susan just had a web cam, or a video recorder, she (or someone) could hook it up to a computer, and she could talk directly to her fans, sing to them, etc. But I guess I'm just daydreaming. But of course, I guess there would be no money for her to do that... and eventually I hope she IS able to be fully compensated for her beautiful talent...

Personally I think the negative journalists (and to be fair, there are some who are posting very gracious articles and are to be commended) can't STAND it because now Susan is "calling the shots" so-to-speak. She has doctors and minders traveling with her... good for her! And I don't think there are very many people who would fault her in the slightest if she DID fling a few choice words at them when they are being so completely obnoxious. :)

Oh I was just going to mention the West Lothian Courier. I had comments quoted on it too and was very happy about that, ha. I printed them out.
Posted by Ruth F on June 14, 2009
Patb - Love your idea. While it's apparently true that the other acts get days off, too, the reality is that most of the audience are coming to see Susan. Look, the other acts realize that Susan's the big draw -- hard to believe they'd object.

Any of these dopes who are reporting with a negative slant on Susan's day off should put themselves in her position: It's less than 10 weeks since she shot to prominence, and she's had NO time to get accustomed to it. I repeat: NO time. Her life has totally changed, and it's happened in full view of the media horde -- and all of us. For heaven's sake, everybody needs to just give her a break.

It'll take more than a single day off for Susan to get used to performing for large crowds, spending days and weeks in a recording studio, being interviewed, and everything else that goes along with being a professional singing star. No other singing star has ever had so little time to prepare. It astonishes me that the media hacks can't figure this out.

Can you imagine going through what Susan's going through? Sure, it could be great long term, but right now, if she's somewhat shell-shocked, well, who wouldn't be?
Posted by ponylady on June 14, 2009
A "wee rest" we can only HOPE. To think of living alone with only family and friend visits. I understand both the lonliness but also the blessed peace with only the peaceful purring of Pebbles. Now, even if in a secret location, Susan is certainly not ever alone in her apartment, however large, and nothing is familiar, except perhaps Pebbles. We can only hope Susan and her fur friend can shut a door and enjoy their peaceful friendship some of the time. Still, but the odds aren't good that Susan has a lot of free and uncomplicated time. All of our prayers and best thoughts for her ability to develop the necessary show-biz skills to become more and more comfortable with saying "no thanks" and shuting doors when needed.
Posted by susaphile on June 14, 2009

Good. I am glad Susan is taking a break. They certainly are using up her energy in this foolish tour. I feel she is doing this to not let anyone down. I think she just wants to get out on her own and do a real concert of many songs of her own. This I would love to see. I think we are all waiting for her concert tour - just her and a few of her beautiful songs. God bless you Susan and take a rest as long as you need to.

Ruth F, thank you, just trying to think of a different way for Susan to present herself, and not be so tiring, With all of the new technology these days, it just seems like there SHOULD be an easier way to reach her fans, rather than repeating the same dress and songs in venues with only a few thousand people, when she has MILLIONS of fans all over the world, and it only took ONE video clip on YouTube. That seems to be the modern way to go at this early stage in her career. Then later, afer CD & DVD releases, she could rent a place and have the people come to her! like Las Vegas even. Oh and I totally agree with your take on negatives about her, they don't seem to, or want to, understand! She DOES have every right to be shell-shocked! I mean we all shell shocked that she has come into our lives, and we're just sitting here!

LOL,--Casey'smom! Thanks! It doesn't really matter which of us got mentioned, just as long as our fan site got a plug,---right?? I just hope someone locally picked up on that and can get the word to Susan about her many fans in here. I think it would be a real boon to her spirits to know what a positive, affirming, supportive site this is and how much we all love her. I'm spreading the word every chance I get. Have also posted in a couple of the tabloids, as well. We'll get famous yet!!!

My heartfelt sympathy to all who have suffered loss of furbabies, or loss of any kind.

@jaffa66 So sorry your 3 year old puss went missing. Yes, I too pray someone is caring for your puss with love.

Yes Susan and this fan site has helped us all cope and stay more 'together' in times of extreme stress and loss/grief. These times, people lose many things, jobs, pensions, homes, fur babies. Yet Susan's love in her songs helps us all see what really matters in life, which is Love, Peace, and supporting each other in our lives. We are here supporting the good for Susan, and her singing, however that plays out.

God Bless Susan for bringing us all together.

@Focus on Susan: the laughing girl we saw the most of has posted on another site how surprised she was at Susan's talent. Also you might have noticed, you could see her mouth "Who is Elaine Paige?"

As far as the girls' laughing is concerned, the show's popularity (sadly enough) is greatly bolstered by putting on a number of people who will definitely engender jeers. (and a few such people have actually committed suicide after one of these auditions- such as the one who did so in front of Paula Abdul's house after a biting put-down on American Idol. These shows are the modern-day version of ancient Rome's Coliseum events, where Christians were thrown to the lions. WHy is it so satisfying for some to jeer at and humiliate others? Could it be that some of those with severe inferiority complexes enjoy this fleeting camaraderie with others of the same ilk --while they are putting these unfortunates down, they feel superior? Some of these contestants are obviously emotionally disturbed, and most believe that they are qualified to audition. These judges don't seem to understand that most of these people sincerely believe that their voices/acts are worthy of winning these competitions; they honestly "haven't a clue" and aew consequently torn to pieces by both judges and audience. Such a sad comment on the civility of the human race.

So many comments I want to respond to. Really wish we had a 'reply' option to each post.

Anyhow, to everyone who has lost a pet, I am so sorry. I have lost several, and know how difficult it is. We now have a puppy, eight months old and she is precious. A black poodle. It took a while to recover from the loss of the last pet, but when you are ready, I think this is the best way to remember a beloved animal, to give a loving home to another. They are never replaced as each one is unique. I lost four kitties in 4 years. Three were feral cats we had taken in and grown to love. Two very young sadly. I will always remember them.

Regarding the tour, it makes sense, considering the gruelling schedule, that each act could take some time off.

I don't think it's good for any of them, no matter how young or old.

Nice story, if true, about Simon getting a special passport for Pebbles. How cute, he's turning into a doting father figure to Susan and Pebbles.

Ammo, I think you were asking about links. There is no way on this board to create a hyper-link which people could just click on. I am hoping that will be a feature of the blog when the upgrade takes place. Not to have that ability, is the equivalent of returning to writing on cave walls, imo! Lol!

Agree with 'patb' posts above. Also there is a need to look after Susan's singing voice. Susan has to record an album at the same time as doing this tour. That must cause alot of voice strain.

Patb - I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of Las Vegas personally, but I agree that a set-up like that would make a lot of sense when Susan is ready to perform regularly. And, even though I'm not crazy about Las Vegas, I'd sure be at the front of the line for tickets (and tickets, and tickets)!
Posted by WAMcKinley on June 14, 2009
@Casey'smom: They said that they were forwarding all the messages to Susan. I'd like to think that's true,---although I've grown rather suspicious of any claims made by the press. But since this is a local paper for Susan,-----maybe there's a chance. Wouldn't THAT be nice??!------(c:

@A Joan M for Susan- RE PET LOSS: I am so sorry for you loss. My husband has written a book called the SOul of Your Pet- Evidence for the Afterlife of Animals. Even though there is a chapter on religious beliefs, it is mainly a book on genuine evidence. Please. anyone feel free to email me at aronne1at yahoo dot com. I am not trying to push the book but will give you some examples and even talk with you on the phone to hopefully give you some comfort. A cable company is possibly going to do a series on it. I had been thinking that because of Pebbles this topic might come up and Susan needs to know ther e is even Biblical support for this. Unfortunately her re;igious faith doesn't believe in this and I have been very worried what might happen if she were to lose Pebbles and went to her priest for solace. Again, I can provide evidence both secular and Biblical. I have 2 little fuzzballs in Heaven and I think I would have lost my mind had I not been able to re-read our book. I know it might sound impossible to provide secular evidence, but we can! Nobody I've shared this with has been able to explain things away, either. One of the doctors in the biggest vet clinic in our city provided our first story.

I have no doubt that it's true WAMcKinley, small town papers, like I said are not tabloids (I've lived in a small town and they would never get away with publishing lies, the editor and writers are your neighbors). If they try to say anything untrue the whole town gets upset at them, trust me, they don't want that.

@ Joan M: Thanks for your kind thoughts, too. It really is nice to come to a community of like-minded people (all different, but all compassionate and very caring.) So needed in today's world. I know I keep saying this, but I don't think Susan could ever imagine the effect she's had on so many people. Just "Gobsmacking".

@sabrina6850: thanks too on behalf of all of us who have lost a pet, and I'm very sorry for your past losses, too. I agree with you about a "reply" option, too. And so hard to keep up with all the posts. By the time you reply to one, another 20 have gone by!

I have to disagree with those suggesting that Susan tape part of a song, use music, etc. in place of live performances on the tour. I think its much better if she skips a performance all together. A true professional either does a complete performance or takes a complete needed rest. There is no in between. True professional singers have to memorize their music. That's just the way it is. Susan has no trouble with that. She sang many songs from memory during her tv interviews. I agree this tour is crazy and as I said before I am very glad she is taking time off. I don't think she wants to change the definition of professional singer I think she wants to prove that she can live up to it - which she already has.

Vicki Smith - Would love to read your husband's book. I'm Catholic like Susan, but I am certain that our beloved pets live on after their time on earth is completed. (How could it be heaven if there were no animals?) I know my two darlings, gone at ages 16 and 17, are out there. And, no kidding, I even think they had a hand in bringing my two new cats and me together.
Posted by Casey'smom on June 14, 2009
Vicki, I'm gonna stick my neck out here but, I, like Susan, am Catholic, but when my first Casey and Sophie were tragically killed in an accident, my Sophie came to see me. NO, I was not dreaming, I was wide awake, laying down unable to sleep and totally, hopelessly miserable. She was, wow how can I explain this, I could see her fully but not solid, ghostlike, and she was jumping up and down and appeared the happy rambunctious little girl that she was. Okay, you might all think I'm crazy but that's what happened.
Posted by CatsAloud on June 14, 2009
Susan needs a voice break, otherwise she will stress her larnyx and not be able to sing for a month. Anyone who understands professional singing will know this, particularly the way that Susan sings.
Posted by Casey'smom on June 14, 2009
CatsAloud, yeah, she has one powerful voice.

Howdy Pards,

I remember the absolute joy of Susan Boyle's original audition performance...not just her incredible singing but her wonderful self confidence and real sense of humor...her victory dance at the end and then of course that wonderful kiss thrown out to all the world.

It was that performance that captured the hearts and the imagination of the entire world.

In later interviews what a delight it was seeing Susan having fun, smiling, and enjoying all the attention from the media of the world. What joy to see her singing into her hairbrush in front of her mirror.

It's fun to go back and review those things again. To see the sparkle in her eyes and the joy in her heart.

I hope in her performances to come she might once again capture that joy...that sparkle...that fun.

All the formalities of stage and arena productions have taken some of that away from us I believe. Although the audience is screaming wildly their love and support and certainly giving her those marvelous standing ovations, I believe Susan longs to connect with her audience in much the same way as she did during that first audition...to have some fun.

We may never see that again...but I hope we do. The little gesture she used during that Sheffield matinee was familiar to all of us...we remembered it from that first audition when she was trying to remember the word villages. In that minute on stage in Sheffield she connected with every member of that audience once again... If she was allowed to simply say a few brief words before she began I believe her comfort level would improve dramatically...something simple like, "Thank you all for being here tonight and for that warm welcome. I'm gobsmacked."

Just those few words before the music began would get a thunderous round of applause and increase her comfort level considerably...then let the music start...let the lassie sing.

Susan's smile is one of the most beautiful things one could ever hope to see. I hope we can see many more smiles from her in the performances ahead.

Adios for now. Talk to ya on down the trail.

Wild Ol' Dan

Vicki - Just bought a new copy of your husband's book on Amazon. Thanks so much for telling us about it. I'm really looking forward to reading it.

To all who have lost pets: So many of us can honestly say, "I know what you're going through." I'm very sorry for your losses. For me, as much as I miss by dear cats, I'm really happy to have two new felines to share my home with! They'll never replace the first two, and I wouldn't want them to! They're just as sweet and lovable -- in their own ways!

Speaking of cats, it's treat time, so I'll be signing off now. God bless -

Well said, Wild Ol' Dan! I long to see Susan that happy and content again, too. It'll happen, I'm sure,---once she gets all this craziness out of the way and can embark on the kind of career SHE wants, singing to HER kind of audiences the way SHE cares to sing. It's gonna be GREAT!! And I can hardly wait to see that mischievious little grin and the sparkle in her eyes again when she takes to the stage, doing it HER way!!

I haven't actually "seen" my departed loved ones, but have felt their presense so strongly that it is as though they were with me physically. With my missing puss, I have not sensed his presense which actually makes me feel he is somewhere still on this earth. I miss him like crazy, but just so hope he is happy wherever he is.

WIld 'Ol Dan - Just had to respond to your last post before I really do sign off for the night --

I think you're absolutely right when you say you think it would calm Susan to be able to say a few words to the audience before performing. I know that the way I calm my nerves before I have to give a speech is to say something off the cuff that gets the audience involved and on my side, so to speak.

Hope everybody has a wonderful evening (or morning or afternoon, depending on where you are). All the best to everybody -- and, of course, most especially to Susan and Pebbles.

@casey'smum: I do understand what you're saying, but I'm certain that he is okay. I think animals are far more in touch with the spirit world than us, and I really believe they all "pass over" safely. You know how pets, esp. cats (well, I've only ever had cats) just look into space with that heavenly, meditative peacefulness. I think they understand and sense a lot more than us! I know, a sign would've been nice though....

I'm sorry too for getting off topic, but I can't do a private email as my outlook express is down.

I really hope that some day in the not to distant future a sensible interviewer and Susan will have a controlled chat. One interviewer for example had asked Susan if she still missed her mother. Now what sort of an idiotic question is that. Ask anyone who has lost someone dear and all you're doing is stirring up unhappy emotions. So what was the point of that. At any rate - I would love to see a nice relaxed interview to hear her reflextions on all of this. I think I'll be glad for Susan when this tour is over so she can get to her C.D. And after that - we're waiting over here in oOrth America to make a great fuss over her - hope she can visit before too long.
Posted by PhyllisIA on June 14, 2009
Wild ole Dan, I like what you said and have thought the same thing. Oddly, there was a new show on public TV tonight about Scotland. I had thought how nice it would be if Susan can sing on those nights and mention home, and even close with auld lang sang -- if she and us could even handle that. I NEVER can.

I feel sad when I think of the sweet ways that are gone, but so happy for her and know things will settle down. People wonder about her fatigue, but just think how her life has changed. She basically is so different; she can't live alone in Blackburn and walk around like she had. And she loved her home. And, she will love another one, but we have to remember change is hard for all of us and she's had alot of change. I long to hear her talk. Sleep well all, and have a good day for those who are waking up.

Yes, jaffa66, since everything is quiet now here, there's no new Susanews, I read this wonderful story a while back.

German Shepherds were sent into church during a visit from the Pope (previous Pope, I believe it was in the US, but not sure) to do a sweep and make sure it was safe before he entered. They entered the church in a frenzy like all sweep dogs do and went sniffing around and when they they arrived before the altar, they laid down before it and stared up, their handlers were shocked, nothing had ever made them stray from their mission.

I can send phone nuber that way. Here's one example from book: the largest vet clinic in Thousand Oaks Ca where I live had a vet practicing there for many years- Dr Dina Andrews. One day she was called out to a ranch where she had never been before to treat a horse; it was in a paddock. She mentioned to the owners that they should remove the other horse because it might also become ill; they asked her what she was talking about since they only had one; when she looked around the other horse had vanished! SHe described it to them and it matched the description of an old white horse that had died a few months earlier who in life had boned with the sick one. Now, again, the vet didn't know these folks- was her first visit- and it sure wasn't grief-induced hallucination because the owners didn't see it!

Dear Susan and her fans,

I pray that Susan is sleeping peacefully right now, and her angels are surrounding her, and healing any seeming stresses or uncertaities.

I love Susan for who she is, and Bless her for her courage to follow her dream. At least she had a dream, and had the courage to see it through. I know Susan is loved the world over, and let us know that she is feeling our love for her, and it "lifts her up." I sure hope Susan has seen some of Tommy's videos by now, or will soon.

I also hope Susan has support in hand for the time her Pebbles makes her way to spirit land. But, I hope that won't be for a very long time, for Susan's and Pebbles sake.

I'm signing off, as it is time to clean up kitchen, and get ready for another day.

Blessings to Susan and all her fans, and to all our furbabies in heaven.

Love, Joan M

susan, you are a woman with a mission. show to the world the true beauty and the true love. as a volunteer in your church you made the difference and now, as a world star you already made the difference too. so you should do what your heart tells you and forget about the gossips and disgusting advises the television and other people say. Keep with God and you will be ok in any situation of your life. suffering will not go away but will be easier to bare. i am pretty sure you will keep transmittingyour message of love and understanding.

Howdy Pards,

Seems like I'm not the only one who misses Susan's smile...

Ya know I've been wantin' to mention another thing that I have noticed in these videos. Now, I suspect he does it the same way for all of the acts on the show, but the Master of Ceremonies seems to be in a bit of a hurry at the end of Susan's performances.

I would like to see him wait a little longer to give the audience more time to express their appreciation for Susan and to give Susan more time to express her appreciation to the audience.

I had a thought...wouldn't it be wonderful if...at the end of her performance someone, perhaps a little girl, came up and gave her a beautiful bouquet of flowers during her standing ovation? I think it just might add a touch of class and, if it was given from the heart, it might just be an honest way to express appreciation for Susan and her wonderful talent.

All these things will come, I know. But, some of us have been on a stage once or twice ourselves (no I don't mean a stagecoach, I mean a theatrical stage, although I have been on a stagecoach once or twice too) and some of us have had the pleasure of being a Master of Ceremonies once or twice. There's an art to it. But one of the most important aspects of it is knowing when to come on at the end of a performance and help the performer "steal that extra bow".

Yep, ya gotta keep the show movin'...but ya also gotta give folks the opportunity to express their appreciation. Seems a whole lotta folks appreciate Susan Boyle...

Adios for now. Talk to ya on down the trail.

Wild Ol'Dan, was just about to turn the computer off and read your post, yes that would be lovely, having a young child (actually would love to see the toddler who BethinTheUSA posted a video of her reaction to Susan's singing - absolutely priceless - be the one, but just wishful thinking) give her a bouquet of flowers.

Nice thought Dan, you are such a gentleman.

Susan's voice has simply captured me. When I go to bed at night I can still hear her singing and when i wake up the next morning her singing I Dreamed a Dream or Memories is still going though my head as if I was still watching her on YouTube.

Is anyone else doing this or am I losing it ? LOL !
Posted by PhyllisIA on June 14, 2009
Came back to sign off, but once again want to say I'm thinking like ole dad, who is most likely young enough to be my son. It just seems like they run her off. When I was thinking of this nostalgic Scotland show Mon night, I even thought of Hollie or all the kid singers on the show joining her for Auld lang syng. Now, Hollie give her a flower, then start the song, Susan join, then the whole audience. :) It's just too rushy. Night all!
Posted by WAMcKinley on June 14, 2009
I would think a good place for that to happen would be at the Glasgow performance, too,---the place where it all began for her! Now wouldn't that be something?! If Teesiel gets back on this blog at some point, maybe she could take this ball and run with it. Tomorrow night in Glasgow---or the next day in Edinborough would be perfect. A fitting tribute to Lady Susan in her own country. They should be tossing bouquets onstage at every venue, in my opinion. But now I'm wondering if maybe the powers that be prohibit the folks from bringing flowers ito the hall in the first place?? Anyone know??
Posted by Fire Djinn on June 14, 2009
It's great that the show is finally working with her and allowing her time to take breaks etc. Being constantly in the spotlight is part of fame, but it can also be draining.

I watched a video of the other performers arriving by motor coach, and there didn't seem to be as much media swarming them. I think the media, has to learn also take your photo and go. You only need one or two for the headline. Why do they continue to swarm??? When she was at the airport in London, they swarmed her finally she had to tell them enough, and still they followed.

But I suppose it's like being a kid on Christmas Eve you don't want to sleep because you may miss something.

Best Wishes Susan, take care, get lots of rest.

I agree with you, Wild Ol' Dan. I think Susan does long for that connection. I know I wish I could see her smile and be herself. Maybe that will happen again when she is the single star of her own show.

I hope from here to there to see her. I'd love for her to have time to chat with the audience between songs and share stories with us. Then she could feel us laughing and our love. Screaming and yelling while Susan sings is just not dignified for this Dear Girl. I know all of us here would sit quietly, enthralled, hanging on every note, then we'd cheer and applaud wildly and it would wash over her like sunshine. I pray that will happen.
Posted by mdillow31 on June 14, 2009

signing off- not sure for how long. Almost 8pm here in Calif. Again, pets do have an afterlife as we do, and they can be with us - they are not sent to some "pet heaven"; Biblical evidence for their survival and a ton of anecdotal evidence from people who have seen "ghost" pets- their own as well as even strangers'pets!

I've not made a post on Susan-Boyle.com in many days but now want to say this about Susan's current health problems et.al. other "issues" regarding her of late:

Susan is 48 years old, she isn't a "spring chicken" and is under considerable physical AND emotional strain, the kind people even half her age would have MORE than serious problems dealing with! To me it IS a miracle that she can go on stage not being in the best of health and "sing her heart out" to tumultuous applause every time she's done so! Susan's already "beaten the odds," the few live performances she's done so far are legendary even though she's sung just two songs and leaves excited expectation in me that a "surprise or two" might happen before the BGT tour ends.

I DON'T like hearing about scurrilous "Scabloid" blog attacks about Susan using her physical or emotional difficulties to stoke media hype in order to profit from it;

I DON'T like hearing about sensationalized accounts about how much she's making a minute singing either (she's worth MORE than what's she's supposedly getting in my humble opinion...) or how she's gotta do this or that to curry favor with media elites.

I ONLY wish Susan GOD'S SPEED in quickly recuperating from her fatigue. All love I now bestow upon her from afar to do so SOONER rater than later!

Thank you all for reading this post and Greetings from Cameron Park, California!

Just a thought, RIK: It might not be to recuperate from fatigue so much as to *prevent* it. Pacing, as I've said.

juliad, I remember when Elvis and the Beatles came on the scene but I never had their music going through my head like Susan's does. I have a YouTube of Elaine Paige in an interview saying Susan's voice is a God gift talent and her vocal range and tone are marvelous. She had very good things to say about Susan. :)
Posted by Waddleduck on June 14, 2009
WAMcKinley, I read today that she performed "perfectly" in the evening Sheffield performance -- in other words, didn't forget any of the words to her songs like she did in the morning session. Both times she got a standing ovation. The day before, in Birmingham, she performed once because they only had one performance. I have made a chart of the tour stops, and there are only 6 days in which they perform twice. June 13th was one and today, June 14th was another. After performing twice on the 13th and once the night before, I don't think she could perform twice today too. Part of her problem is that she gets very upset with herself when she forgets words or makes a mistake. Her fans are trying to tell her to lighten up on herself - we love her the way she is and . . . oh, by the way, we love your voice too. Think of it: she has only sung SIX times in front of a live audience. I think she is doing amazingly!

To Vicki Smith. Thank you for your post about your husbands's book, "The Soul of Your Pet". I just looked it up on Amazon and read all the wonderful reviews. I am ordering it tonight. I, like Susan, live alone and i have 2 cats that are getting up in years. I hate to think of the loss I will feel when I lose them. The book sounds wonderful. Thanks. It would be great if you send one to Susan. She would surely understand the importance of the book and would really appreciate it too.
Posted by PIGGIE on June 14, 2009
@Wild o'Dan: I've had some of those same thoughts as well. Even on BGT, in the semifinals, it would have been nice to just have a word with each contestant to give them a chance to relax. Just a "and how are you doing tonight? What are you going to sing for us?" I was surprised they did not. Especially for a singer, just a chance to get the vocal cords working before hitting that first note.

Re: the flowers. Yes, it would indeed be a lovely gesture, but there's probably some crazy BGT "rule" disallowing it. Agree also with the rushing off the stage bit. Let's face it, the BGT is not exactly the classiest performance operation going on. Once Susan gets to do a show on her own, we'll see the audience banter and the smiles again!!

@patriciasart: FANTASTIC Montage! Thank you for doing it and sharing it!

Ammo, you are right about Sat. and Sunday of NEXT weekend, but the final 2 days in which they perform twice are Fri. and Sat., June 26 and 27.

@juliad, I love Pavarotti. I had heard at one time he had problems with his voice and look at the sensational singer he is. I have a few YouTubes of him. He makes me soar just like Susan does. I wish he was still here and doing a duet with Susan. :)

@ WAMckinley, thank you so much for your kind words.

My computer behaved oddly when I posted that message. What I was trying to say is that when Susan comes to the USA, I certainly hope she makes it to Seattle because I would walk from here to there to see her.

I think she would love being able to chat with us and tell us why certain songs mean a great deal to her. I always enjoy that kind of show. It's so warm and intimate and you can really let the artist know how much you enjoy him or her and you remember it a lifetime.

Susan has one of the best senses of humor and a truly adorable personality and that needs to be used as it is part of why we fell in love with her. Her banter with the judges at the audition was top flight. She has about her that comedienne quality that Carol Burnette had when we used to go the tapings of her show at the CBS studios. Susan has true charisma and could make us laugh and cry and we could make her feel loved and cherished.

Susan is not someone you shout and cheer at while she's singing!

@Vicki Smith, yes, I saw the sentence 'Who's Elaine Paige?' That was another girl. I was talking about the trio that was shown initially but it doesn't matter-they 'got it' (as did everyone else) as soon as Susan started to sing.

I notice for the auditions of American Idol that some actually do believe they have talent and it's a sad testimonial to the human race that they're heckled the way they are. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't call this 'entertainment.' Even though their auditions may not be everyone's cup of tea, I give them a ton of credit for getting up there and giving it their best.

I agree with you-it's pretty sad when others are jeered in the name of entertainment. I just hope for some of these folks, someone will see that maybe there is something there and give them a chance. Look at what just happened here-a woman from a small village in Scotland got out there and gave 'em hell. You never know until you try.

Kudos to anyone who has the guts to try.

I am glad that Susan is taking a rest..there are too many show dates and too many show times..it has got to rack her voice and when she gets through singing I dreamed the dream she is going to be sick of it...lol but she looks beautiful and confident and happy and that is just the way I want to see her...Susan you are rocking the house wherever you go!! Can't wait for her to come to America Hurry Up Susan! hugs Kat Florida

My take on Susan's day off. She is a devout Catholic which requires her to go to church on Sunday. So she needed that time to go home to church, and then prepare for the big show in Glasgow.
Posted by jbro on June 14, 2009
mdillow31 I know exactly what you mean. I have not felt this way about a singer since Elvis! Thought I was too old to be fascinated with a singer. I listen to Susan over and over and over again and experience the same goosebumps each time. I too can hear her singing when I go to bed. I thought maybe I was losing it until I saw your comment. Thanks for posting it! Susan's voice is just something special. I cannot wait for the CD's.

mdillow31 - hadn't thought of that duo! Wouldn't that be something! Have a Pavarotti collection in a set - 10 CDs and 1 DVD. Absolutely fantastic!

That`s great for Susan. Going on tour can really be exhausting. Once a week is okay but not everyday! She can work on her debut album while the rest of the talents do their tour. I can hardly wait for December to buy her album. I hope it comes out earlier.

Joan, I'm so sorry about your Siberian Husky. I had one. They are so smart and beautiful. Someone stole him when he was 4 yrs old and when I found him again (after 5 months), he was only home a week when he got out into the street and a car hit him. Before he was stolen, he used to never get in the street. Must've been a habit he picked up when at someone else's home. God bless you and heal your heart. We do love our pets!
Posted by PaulaMarie on June 14, 2009
I forgot to add, she needed time to go home to church because her Catholic religion requires it, prepare for her big trip to Glasgow AND get fitted for a new dress! I'm hoping she has a new dress at the next show!

I'm lighting my prayer candle for her. God speed for a healthy rest for Susan. She will be ready tomorrow I feel it.

@mckat1149 whilst I understand your keenness for Susan to come to the US, I hope you are meaning for a promotional tour, not a full scale concert tour. The rigors of the BGT tour pale into insignificance compared to a full scale tour when the artist is the headliner, particularly somewhere as vast as the US where she would be totally out of her comfort zone. Personally, I hope a tour like that is a long way off. I would like to see Susan have the opportunity first to record her CD and then to have a small role in a West End show and then eventually if she feels it's what she wants, to do some headline tours in the UK. There is constant repetition of Susan should go to the US because that's where she will make extraordinary amounts of money. My hope for her is that she sticks to her dream and doesn't feel the need to satisfy the dreams of others, be they record company executives or fans.
Posted by Waddleduck on June 14, 2009
ML, according to what I read, she was NOT crying. When she missed her lines and the audience started applauding and cheering to encourage her, she pointed to her head (like, duh, I forgot) and didn't miss a lick with the rest of the song. She is very quick to correct, BUT I have read more than once that she does get exceedingly nervous backstage and I have read repeatedly that she gets upset with herself when she makes a mistake. We're all gonna have to "pray her out of that." We don't care if she makes a mistake - all performers do when they have to perform night after night.
Posted by vicki smith on June 14, 2009
I'm watching a public broadcast special in on hit's from the 1950's when I was a teem; artists performing over 70 and doin' just fine when it comes to their singing! Susan has many good years ahead of her if she takes care of herself and and doesn't let others push her around.

My aunt has had a life long singing talent, providing songs for weddings, funerals, all kinds of church and community events. Even after all the years, she forgot the words to the Lord's Prayer (pretty much her favorite). Anyone can forget a word or get distracted. Susan handled it so well.

Just hope she is OK to do the Glasgow and Edinburgh shows. It would be a shame if her compatriots in Scotland missed out on seeing their very own Susan. I would imagine all her family and friends are planning on going to those shows too so I hope she can make them proud without risking her health.

A Genie:--Isn't that just delightful,---that conversation Susan had with the West Lothian Courier??! I could listen to that over and over again!! In fact,---I have!!---LOL!!! Just to hear her voice and her giggles,---the obvious delight in hearing him tell her about all the messages she was receiving from all over the world! It's just CHARMING!!

WADDLEDUCK: Thanks for the info about the performances. I have a hard time keeping straight which days there are two performances and which have only one.

And Tommy,---Thank you, THANK YOU!! once again for your wonderful tributes! It's such a joy to visit your tribute page!!

Thank you SusanBoyleFan, TommyUSA, patriciasart and everyone else supporting Susan. There's no doubt about it: Susan has united us in love and gratitude thru the gift she gives us. And, lest we forget, she still needs to take "baby steps." With all that she's gone thru in the last two months I'm sure she needs to sit down to figure out where she is. A few days off every now and then should be expected; we all need weekends! Even professional singers! And maybe especially our Susan!
Posted by mdillow31 on June 14, 2009
@piggie, jaffa, jbro, juliad... glad were on the same page. I was beginning to get worried about myself. LOL ! Boy, Susan's voice is so unique. It is so hard to explain it or understand it completely. I am thrilled Susan is finally seeing her dream come true and doing it for her Mum.

But Susan has always said to take "Baby Steps." So I think she knows how far she can push it on the tour and when to take a rest.

There is a wonderful story to come out of the Manchester show involving a Susan fan and some chatters from this site. IT is well worth the read and heartwarming.

I posted it at: http://indianasusanboylefan.blogspot.com/

THis is my blog. Please enjoy

While I would love for Susan to tour here in the U.S., I know that right now, it is not feasible for her to do that. What could be done is for her to appear on a few t.v. shows and introduce some new songs or sing some songs she is comfortable with. I, for one, would love to here her sing Ave Maria. Also, she could appear on Broadway in some form or come to L.A., everyone absolutely loves her here!
Posted by Chelsea on June 14, 2009
I hope Susan will go back to Manchester some day and do a free concert for then to show her goodwill. She is so gifted. I guess she's just stuck with it now that the whole world let alone England knows she can sing. Sorry Susan people just want to see and hear you. I wish you lots of love and luck, and take your vitamins, your going to need them!

June 15,2009 Manchester Evening News reports that ticket holders may have their money back if Susan doesn't show up for the BGT performance. Already 4 snarky comments...unhappy guys. Off we go for some positive feedback and stand up for Susan. Remember Simon Cowell said everything was up to Susan. Rest and take it slow, Susan.
Posted by dmichael on June 14, 2009
I am sure to get slammed on this one. But I personally think it is time for her to rest ...period!!! And like Streisand she shoudl STOP all touring focus on the songs SHE wants to sing, and go into the recording studio..end of story. NO singer ( elton, cher, bette , tina etc do back to back performances, that is physically exhausting. Personally with so many songs in the ascap library, with many perfect for susan, she sould record AT HER leisure. This is a job. She does not owe us anything.... SUSAN love you!! Support YOU!!!!!!! Follow YOUR!! dream !!!! By the way YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!! inside and out!!!! hugs to pebbles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been reading some of the comments and share the same thoughts. the man who mentioned Elvis,I thought that also. Susan has that kind of appeal . I don't know what it is. It's just the It factor, also some one mentioned something about Pavarotti, she's like a female Pavarotti, not in looks but in voice the same kind of emotion and strength of her voice. Let me set the record straight I thing Susan is very pretty. Some one mentioned CD's and a DVD.I hope Susan will put out a CD and DVD combo. I would love to have that duo. I am also in Seattle
Posted by katladyd on June 14, 2009

Michael and others... Susan is not a CHILD. SHE can decide for herself... along with her managers and counsel... what she can and cannot do! :) I am off to check out the Manchester Evening News; may be time to begin going together to the sites and posting... but try to keep it positive so not acting like they do ha.
Posted by CatsAloud on June 14, 2009
It should be pretty clear (lol). Susan needs a voice break - with the intensity she sings, it puts a huge strain on the larynx to sing like that every day.
Posted by Misti in Seattle on June 14, 2009
Okay I posted comments on the Manchester Evening News too... they don't show up yet so guess they have to be approved. I also copied them into a document so I can copy and paste them in whenever I need to do so on news sites LOL. Time for us to go back at them, ha.
Posted by Misti in Seattle on June 14, 2009
Yes it is clear, LOL. And she IS taking a break. I might add she has her DOCTOR(s), minders and agent rep with her at all times. She was quite wise to surround herself with them IMO. Her agent is obviously quite professional and has turned several people into multi-millionaires. I think they are planning quite well to make sure she does not become overly stressed or exhausted. The press can't stand it because Susan and her helpers are starting to call the shots and she is soon going to be laughing all the way to the bank. :)

I thought this was a fabulous tribute to OUR LADY:

Boyle is a powerhouse of talent, but uncorruptable. To make it on BGT, American or Canadian Idol, you can't be decent, honest or genuine. Anyone ignorant enough to ignore Boyle's powerful stage presence and gorgeous voice in favor of gutter gossip, has no oppinion worth hearing. Susan came a long way during this contest. It took guts to express her outrage with as much vigor as her joix de vivre in singing. That's a real winner.
Posted by Misti in Seattle on June 14, 2009
Oh and patriciasart... LOL good point! When those CDs hit the stands... or SuBay as I saw on here LOL, love that word... they are going to look a bit foolish, ha.
Posted by nanbride on June 14, 2009
Susan's priority must be Susan and her well-being. If she never goes on tour, that's okay with me...but when her music CDs come out, I will be quick to buy them. I just want Susan to be happy and proud and take the best care of her Self.
Posted by Misti in Seattle on June 14, 2009
Thanks for posting this, Singing Soul! That is excellent.
Posted by Misti in Seattle on June 14, 2009
And they keep referring to her as a "church volunteer" like GASP how horrid! How could she DO something like go visit and help care for her elderly neighbors!!? Why she even took care of her MOTHER. :)
Posted by jaffa66 on June 14, 2009
I've been checking out a few sites and googling away. A few good things I found: First, I didn't know that BGT had an "official" YOutube site-(not that that's good.lol), but I read the first page of comments by youtube subscribers of Susan's clip. Of the roughly 10 posts about 8 were really positive, and when I sought out the poster' profiles, found that they were all aged 15 to 22! Except for one older guy (this was over an hour ago, mind you.)

Second (and this may be old news-I always seem to post something that's already been posted!), but it was an article in the MIrror on Susan not appearing at Manchester. And not one derogatory word!!! Not even "spinster". Just brief, straight to the point and totally positive, about her "mutual dcision" with bosses to miss the shows due to tiredness. Finishes saying "Susan earned rave reviews after the first night in Birmingham and a standing ovation at the matinee show in Sheffield". Go to http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2009/06/15/tired-boyle-misses-bgt-tour-shows-115875-21441635/

I wonder if other people are as worried about Susan as I am . I love Susan, I'm a huge fan; but I am worried about her. She is missing a concert on the 3rd day of the tour. Did she possibly leave the Priory too soon? She got 5 days of rest, but maybe she needed to stay longer and actually get some treatment? I know she has some anxiety issues, but I'm just concerned about her, because she is suffering exhaustion and stress after 2 nights of 2 songs, how will she be able to handle the stress of being the primary act, where she will be expected to perform for 60-90 minutes? Has anyone else here thought or worried about that? I'm just asking, because I think Susan is awesome and am just genuinely worried about her.
Posted by katladyd on June 15, 2009
I like the idea of Susan just making CDs and appearing on the occasional television show or making t.v. specials. That would be fine by me! I love her!
Posted by #1USAfan on June 15, 2009
I agree that CD's would be the best thing, but it would be awesome to get to see her in person at least 1 time anyhow.... :o)

@#1USAfan,

I´ve been really worried about her since I first saw her. But I think we should not speculate and analyse so much here. It´s not any help. The burden on her shoulders is just huge. I wouldn´t be able to bear one fraction of it. Only she knows what´s best for her. Let´s hope she can have it.

Actually Susan doesn't need to tour after the BGT tour ends as she has a huge fan following now. She is known all over the world.... now she needs to record only. Maybe have a tv concert every few years like Elvis. She has star power with that voice. Unbelievable success awaits her. Goodnite from the great Southwest.

Susan should take a six month break, and rethink what she originally said " I want to be a professional singer". The natural warmth and talent we saw at the beginning, is being eroded from her. Showbiz is not what it likes to thinks it is, its dog eat dog!

Posted by sassyone on June 15, 2009
Yes, yes, I've been saying this all along. Enya is a perfect example of making it big without doing tours. She does tv appearances, and creating videos and she is loved all over the world. Especially in the US. Enya has also said she doesn't like the feeling being watched up on stage. she just wants her music to be heard and loved by others.

Why not Susan? she can record, make vids, dvds and they will sell. I know I'd buy all her CDs, dvds and whatnot.

Well, I hope she figures it out because I feel sorry for her right now, always walking on egg shells. she's damned if she does, and damned if she don't.

Posted by jeffdavies on June 15, 2009
Totally agree with SASSYONE. I think this tour is expecting a bit too much from all of these novice performers-physically and mentally hard work.

LOVE THE NEW HAIRSTYLE. Take a rest and tell the press to go hang themselves. LETS HAVE THAT RECORD.

Message sent today to You Tube Gurus,

"It staggers me and many others how ‘You Tube’ is able to make a business out of putting on line videos with comment forums for each individual video posted that permits offensive language without moderation. It seems to me, and to many others, that if ‘You Tube’ wants to continue in business then they should pay for moderation services at the very least. My daughter regularly accesses the ‘You Tube’ site and frankly I find it disgusting that there is no semblance of moderation on this 'You Tube' site. A clear case of media out of global regulatory control and maximizing abuse."

I think they need to rethink next years live tour and space out each show. if they do two shows in one date, they need a day off for rest in between dates.

re PET SOULS: @jaffa66 and beachgirl22- thank you. Jaffa, you can go to amazon.com and read the reviews on the book- should be suff site- should help a lot; sorry you're having trouble with your email- I've been there more than a Whcouple of times.

I think that if a book were sent to SUsan at this time it would bring on terrible anxiety; I don't think this is something she could even think about at this time; In her case I'm afraid that Pebbles would have to become very sick before she could bring herself to even think about the possibility of losing her. Even though this book should be read while our animal companions are still healthy, this is a subject so many people can't even allow themselves to think about and I certainly understand that. I have spoken to so many people whose loss was sudden and couldn't read up on this fast enough- and it would take days to get the book. This is why I'm so grateful to the Internet- there is enough on amazon to get a good idea of the book and be comforted and I always take calls. We haven't made much - Amazon and Bordrs seem to want all the profits, but the important thing is to help staunch the heartache from the lost of the precious animals we hold so dear. I'm basically a doggy oersib, but so many of our best recountings seeseem to bem to be about cats. LOL I wish we were moneyed- it would give me so much pleasure to give everyone on this site a copy who wanted one; when we self-published this was possible, but now we have to pay the publisher wholesalle price so at this time we only keep a few copies on hand in the car mainly in case we run into someone who needs a book immediately. Heck. anybody here who can't afford a copy can call me and I'll read the book to them. them/ them LOL. My Yorkie is over 13 now and I'm about ready to read the book again, myself; I've always fed my doggies a vegetarian diet and they have lived long lives' sure hope Frazzle is no exception. My rescued Chihuahua is only and I tell you nobody over 26 should have them- they give the word "energetic" a whole new meaning ! Lo)

Good morning Everyone. CatsAloud, I think Google rely on individual members to moderate comments on their own videos. Apparently about 20 hours worth of videos are uploaded every minute. So ITV or whoever uploaded the video should remove offensive comments. But I guess that would be difficult to enforce. One of the downsides of the internet, definitely.

@Misti in Seattle - Re: legalities of mp3 files. Well, you ask a good question regarding the legal status of the mp3 files I've provided. The sound recordings will be owned by SyCo, and would therefore be subject to copyright. However, they've not tried to exploit them commercially (even allowing the YouTube clips to stay on for 'promotional purposes') so we aren't really robbing them of anything. If they'd released them on commercial CD and we'd have ripped them that would most certainly get you a trip to court! The truth is, because they've allowed them to stay on YouTube, anyone could make their own mp3 file from those clips. All I've done is provided higher quality mixes. I can't see SyCo coming around to your house and dragging you off!

@DJG-Scotland There are no copyrights when the song is up and public. Eveyone has the right to convert those clips to mp3. I'm enjoying fully those videos and mp3's :-)

BTW good morning to all.

re:vickismith---I had that problem as well. The whole window was tooooo big for my screen, even thou I went out and bought a wider screen. And then all I did was reduced the size of the window with "ctrl" and "-" (minus), with each click the window gets smaller until it all fits!! Good luck---it makes a BIG difference being able to read All, rather than half of each post!!

Thanks DJG -- I'm not worried about SyCo coming to my house and dragging me off... but people HAVE had to pay HUGE fines for downloading illegal files. I didn't mean to imply yours are. :)

I always thought this BGT tour was a bad idea. It's more like a circus or a football match with the audience screaming and shouting. One wonders why they pay such high prices for tickets, when they don't appear to listen to singing. They don't even wait for the end of the song before they scream. This is not the environment Susan should be in - it could put her off for ever. They should just take their time and be sure to produce a really good album. After that, they can feel the water for the occasional appearance. It is all too overwhelming at the moment. BUT it is wonderful to know that Susan is till singing beautifully and is improving all the time. Her new hairstyle if very flattering - she is looking very pretty. All the best to her what ever she decides to do.

Good morning all of Boyle-world, its 5:45am on the East Coast. Stepping back from this media frenzy that is being generated around the BGT tour and Susan's appearances, I see a bit of a pattern, sorta like a giant egg-beater keeping the froth well-beaten. Susan now has an A-1 PROFESSIONAL management TEAM in place and surrounding her. In two days, (Friday and Saturday) She had 3 brilliant live performances with standing ovations, she was previewed by the Elaine Paige folks and passed the test with flying colors, and her appearance fees have been made public. Now on the third and fourth day she has a rest before THE Glasgow concert, which has to be VERY SPECIAL to the "wee singer from Blackburn". Whether the papers get all the facts straight seems not to matter too much to the management team, SUSAN BOYLE is the lead name in all the entertainment sections. For those of us on the outside, we hate to see any distortion of the facts about our Susan in the press; for the management team it must be a bit of a game and Susan's name on the front page is what is important. And with Susan's superior singing ability, about all the press can make a story about is the "will she or won't she appear" angle. And this giant egg-beater will continue until the BGT Tour ends, or until her Management Team has decided that Susan need not continue because the negatives outweigh the positives. I can only hope that someone has explained this "fame-game" to Susan, and coming from a council house in Blackburn to SUPERNOVA OF THE WORLD she certainly has a lot of new concepts to understand and deal with. All of our hearts and prayers are with you Susan as you continue to ROCK THE WORLD!!!!

excerpt: Susan Boyle due back on tour after "rest day" Mon Jun 15, 2009 6:08am EDT

LONDON (Reuters) - Susan Boyle, who became famous the world over after appearing on the "Britain's Got Talent" television show, hopes to return to the stage on Monday after cancelling a weekend performance amid concerns over her health.

edit

"She is due back on stage tonight," said a tour spokeswoman, adding that a final decision on whether Boyle would appear in Glasgow, in her native Scotland, had yet to be made.

"On Sunday she was advised to take a rest day. She hasn't pulled out of the tour."

After the tour is finished, Boyle is expected to record an album which will hit stores by Christmas.

And now the press is reporting "Susan was forced to pull out of the two Manchester shows BY HER DOCTORS" Maybe the her management team decided they wanted a bit of TRUTH in the daily news reports???

http://www.entertainmentwise.com/news/48868/susan-boyle-hopeful-for-heroic-home-town-comeback-in-glasgowMonday 15th Jun 2009 Susan Boyle Hopeful For Heroic Home Town Comeback In Glasgow ...more Susan Boyle » ...more Britain's Got Talent »

Organisers are hopeful Susan Boyle can rejoin the Britain's Got Talent tour tonight in Glasgow.

The 48-year-old singer, from Blackburn, Scotland, was forced to pull out of two shows in Manchester yesterday on the advise of doctors.

But Boyle, who has been suffering from exhaustion, is expected to perform at the SECC later.

The gig would mark a triumphant return for Boyle to her home country.

The singer has become a worldwide sensation since her audition for Britain's Got Talent became a hit on YouTube.

A source told Daily Mirror there were no “sinister” reasons behind her withdrawal from yesterday's concerts in Manchester.

Boyle had defied critics to perform at the opening two dates of the Britain's Got Talent tour in Birmingham and Sheffield last week.

Wild 'Ol Dan--I agree totally with your post. IMO, Susan's sparkle has been squashed by the "machines" put in place to make her dream come true--singing from her home all of those times on Larry King, NBC, CBS, ABC was in front of millions but so different --from her home, I guess that's why she felt or at least showed--no nerves. For people who have commented about allowing Susan a few seconds to interact..If u watch the NIGHT version of the Sheffield show, when she is leaving, clearly, Susan hesitates as though she wants to speak but they move her along. I am sure the mentality is get her on and get her off . Her hand gestures are also more refined then the previous BGT tour performances. I think it is her best yet on the tour.

Susan looks beautiful. I wish I could see her. I'm glad she's able to take a day off. I think, from everything I've read of her, that she's having a hard time not doing a show because she so wants to. I think she really loves her audience. She has never let me down. I respect her more and more the longer I know her. (not to be misunderstood to mean I know her personally. I wish.)
Posted by youareloved on June 15, 2009
I am so thankful that there are people in BGT who are now more considerate of Susan. She does need to rest! SUSAN, WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO LISTEN TO YOU ANY TIME SO PLEASE FOCUS ON YOUR CD! God gives strength to the weary. MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU. MAY THE LORD MAKE HIS FACE SHINE UPON YOU AND BE GRACIOUS TO YOU. MAY THE LORD TURN HIS FACE TOWARD YOU AND GIVE YOU PEACE. Rest in the Lord, beautiful lady. YOU ARE LOVED!

@LucyB Thank you, I wish a whole group of us could go!! So it is drizzling now in Glasgow at 11:40 AM--this hotel is a 10 minute walk from SECC (Scottish Exhibition Convention Center) where the show is tonight and I am debating if I should walk over there and attempt to catch a glimpse of you know who at a practice--I would probably have a heart attack on the spot--could only imagine a "Hey there, how ya do?" I have watched her original audition tape a jillion times to see exactly where our seats are relative to the stage. Fingers crossed she is well enough to make it tonight. The Edinburgh Playhouse for tomorrow night is MUCH smaller and more intimate than this giant place tonight. Susan has such a beautiful voice!!!

Ha ha, CatsAloud, you asked for it. There surely is a piece of classical music for caterwauling cats (impersonated by humans). It’s a piece called “Duetto Buffo di due Gatti” by Rossini. You might play it for your cats and see if they join in :) Here’s the link:

I’ll do a bit of fossicking around when there’s time to listen to both Ruthie Henshall and Colm Wilkinson. Just downloaded the score of Les Mis today. Am looking forward to reading it.

@Kalua and others who sent money to Yorkie: I know this will sound very cynical, but I sincerely hope that someone verified that this woman was for real. We really can't be totally sure who we are talking to on the internet. I just hate the thought of true fans of Susan and truly good and generous people being taken advantage of by not so good people. I hope this story was true, but I am suspicious of someone with children spending grocery money for concert tickets. Please lets take care of ourselves and not be too trusting. This is just my opinion.

I'm in the process of transcoding Susan's 4 early video clips (2 in the pub, Barrymore, and singing at the wedding) ready to create into a DVD. I'm having a few techie problems with the Daily Record clips because of the oddball video size they've used, but I think I should be able to sort that somehow. I'll get it uploaded and available in the usual way later when I'm happy with it.

Woke to another negative biased report of Susan cancelling yesterday including the worse picture they could dig up from weeks ago. I guess if we let this drag us down and bring on anger it will be our own fault for letting the nonsense hurt our own mental health. If she wows them again today, as we expect, hopefully the pathetic journaistic faces will be red...AGAIN!

We don't deserve Susan, she is a special lady who has been knocked by the press and most live talk shows in this country for her simplicity. To her fans her simplicity is the very key to her success........ what you see you get, and it is refreshing. While many top entertainers have tried and failed to make it in America, Susan has been successful! In my opinion that should, without doubt, be an answer to all critics - if she wants a rest, then so be it. Along with all her fans I wish her the very best in all she does. I'm sure we will hear of Susan for many years to come!

Good Morning Susan's Friends ! The sun has just come up over the Rocky Mountains. It is a new week and I must do my work, but here I am at this fansite, like the rest of you. Do you think we could get a group rate at the Priory? Thanks to all who post links to articles. Makes it so much easier to keep up. I tried to find this latest hairstyle picture of Susan that you were talking about, but have not. Could someone post that again? I do hope that Teesial and all Susan's other fans are rewarded tonight by her presence. I know Susan will be there if she can. Have a great day everyone, and remember, as a saying in the West goes, There is always time to pet the dog...or cat.
Posted by joyceleo on June 15, 2009
After watching all the videos of her performances that have been posted, I too noticed that she was somewhat annoyed and less than happy with the crowd. I for one would have been appalled at the reception. People were screaming and hooting and hollering to the point where you could hardly hear her. I don't think that's the way she wants to perform. Solo is her style; not travelling around in a circus with a mixed-bag audience. She seemed to have been thrown off course by the screaming. I think that's why she "forgot a line or two" or whatever she did that was the "talk of the tabloids". I myself couldn't even tell what words she was signing half the time. I did notice that she did move her arms and hands in an irritated manner and at one time she turned her face sharply away from the crowd as if she wanted them to just shut up and let her sing her song in peace and quiet. This kind of "road and pony" show is not her style. She may need to be managed better in the future on her solo ventures. This tour seems to be like being thrown into the lion's screaming den where people think they're supposed to hoot and holler while Susan is trying to sing over the noise. Disgraceful, really. Her style is more Carnegie Hall and CD's. Please, dear God,help her get there and leave this madness behind.
Posted by Misti in Seattle on June 15, 2009
While I disagree completely with joyceleo's interpretation of her movements... the head tossing was part of the performance and was also done at the same place in the song during her BGT performances... and I thought hand movements reached out to the crowd were beautiful and planned. But regardless... reality is Susan no longer has to cater to people who are being rude and hurtful to her. She has made it "big" and they just need to keep her exposure strong enough to maintain the interest until her CD can hit the stands.
Posted by jsandelwood on June 15, 2009
This report, about 25 mins ago, indicates that Susan will take part in the rest of the tour as well as Glasgow.http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5h5vx2NvgZVQdM8Y26yslSqMV8djgD98R46FO1

Hello from sunny east coast. My first time to post, but I also wanted to express my concern for Susan. I'd like to see that little hip wiggle and "cheeky grin" again..I hope she isn't being stripped of the personality that made us love her and her amazing voice. I'm sort of amazed I'm doing this. I've never blogged, never been on a fansite before! I'm a grandma..on a waiting list for a lung transplant. Each day waiting for "the call"...and each day I watch Susan's videos and somehow they are a source of inspiration and a confirmation that anyone can do anything...no matter how challenging. She so deserves to enjoy her dream and if her CD is going to be out by Christmas..it's the only thing that will be on my Christmas list. Be well Susan.
Posted by ponylady on June 15, 2009
Thanks Rocky10 for Piers' good communication reminding everyone that Susan was never intended to do all the stops. The world wants her in a recording studio, not being jostled around so much. Has to be hard for her to miss signing, but I hope she believes there is plenty of time for that.
Posted by ammo on June 15, 2009
@gardenator: Do you mean the beautiful closeup, headshot. If so...go to blogs click on the blog for June 12th...it's the picture at the top. I had to wait a bit for it to pop up... Sorry if this isn't the one you mean, but it's MY personal favourite so far.
Posted by Lonnirose on June 15, 2009
Well, I've given a lot of thought to the reaction of the crowds and wonder if the screaming and applause while she is performing is the norm in that kind of setting. I have seen similar behavior here when a big star performs, so perhaps the stars expect it and cope with it. I think, and someone else mentioned this - that if they'd give Susan a few moments to just BE THERE before the music began, the crowd would perhaps quiet down in anticipation.
Posted by Marie-Fan Forever Canada on June 15, 2009
joyceleo: perhaps the show producers need to learn how to handle the crowd...as fans, we certainly want to see, hear. feel that our Susan is appreciated outhere but we also want to Hear her Singing...should be Susan's show before crowd's show...as far as I'm concerned...

Rumor has it some judge (s) will be there tonight...I also hate all that screaming. I know I couldn't stand if I was trying to perform- it has been well known for years that The Beatles stopped performing live in 1966 PERIOD. They just stopped and concentrated on recording. @joyceleo I didn't see it the way you did. In all the videos I've looked at, the crowd in front of the camera is quietly listening. (But I've stopped watchingI the handheld videos because of the screaming in my ear. It looks like the screamers are way in the back.) Her gestures are in keeping with her words, including the one where she turns her head to the side. It's theatrics - she's working out her style. She'll look at videos and adjust. Most performers I know do that when they are dealing with new material, new presentation. Somethings work, others don't.

When she lost the words, I'm beginning to wonder if someone in the front rows to her left didn't prompt her, and that's who got the thumbs up, and the kiss she blew later. I was against her doing the tour at all, but she's in it now and I wish her the best.

Susan is a super trooper to run this daunting gauntlet from obscurity to superstardom in a few brief weeks. She is bound to waver a bit and experiment with style and presentation. I just wish she could have a stage performance where the crowd greeted her in rapturous tumult, then quieted down and let her sing in peace. There are plenty of times to "raise the roof" without crashing it in on the singer in full burst of song. I do agree with that gentleman who commented on the photo of Susan at the top of this section--he said he didn't think she looked all that happy. I agree. She appears to be gritting her teeth and her mouth is curled back a bit on the left side in that surly style of Elvis!!

Some fans seem reluctant to try new room...don't know why...I told them it's much safer and what do they have to lose...they can still meet each other there. It really is hit and miss on which room you get shunted to on the chatroom on the homepage. Apparently once 50 are in a room if you are No. 51 you get shunted into another room where it could be a whole different crowd of unknowns not identifying themselves. I am learning a lot very quickly. Susan is making me more knowledge every day. What wonders she performs, that lovely lady, without even realizing it...Wow... ;)

DVD of Susan's Early Video performances now available:

As promised, I have created an ISO (disc image) file of a DVD of Susan's Early Video performances performances (two in the Pub from 1984, Barrymore 1995, and singing at the wedding Anniversary). Here's what you need to do to create your DVD (cut&paste the links to your browser):

1. Go get the ISO file from: http://www.filefactory.com/file/ag659eh/n/SUSANDVD3_zip (choose the 'free download' option - don't use 'premium' because it will cost. There is a 30 second delay before the download link will show for adverts to display). BEWARE: this file is 260Mb!

2. Save it somewhere on your machine, and then unZIP the file, which will create SUSANDVD3.ISO

3. If you have your own ISO to DVD burner software (most versions of Nero, Roxio, Cyberlink should have this feature, or use ImgBurn again if you downloaded it last time) then you can now use that to create your DVD from the ISO file

4. If you need an ISO to DVD burner (for free) then I would recommend ImgBurn: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/ImgBurn/1128426215/1 (Just click the blue 'Download' button, then save the .exe file, then run it to install)

5. To create your DVD with ImgBurn: Insert a blank DVD, run ImgBurn, Select 'Write Image File to Disc' option, click the folder image next to where it says 'Please select a file...' then browse to the SUSANDVD3.ISO file, then click the image at the bottom of the screen (with the green triangle in the middle of 2 pictures of a disc) to start creating the DVD.

Don't forget: DVD ISO files of Susan's Birmingham and Sheffield performances are also available:

Birmingham ISO: http://www.filefactory.com/file/ag6h489/n/SUSANDVD1_zip

Sheffield ISO: http://www.filefactory.com/file/ag62143/n/SUSANDVD2_ISO

Just follow the same instructions for each DVD. The Sheffield ISO isn't ZIPped. (In Step 5. above, make sure you browse to right ISO file for the DVD you want to create).

Hello joyceleo, I believe you are right, and if you could get that message on piers morgans e-mail or simon' then maybe they could do something about that shouting crowd prior to the show. You are right. it may also help them to put her in the right setings and susan would feel more comfortable when singing. I think her management team needs your feedback!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Lonnirose I'm sure it's going to be Simon, I read he is in Scotland for the X Factor auditions.

I meant to say "curled lip" not "surly lip". Most of the photos of Susan have a stupendous smile from ear to ear. That's part of her charm and charisma. To look at her in one of her smiling photos is to love her. But she does have a strong, driving will and apparently a bit of a temper too. And that part of her is to love as well, because it protects her from those who mindlessly try to hurt her. I've given up reading the British tabloids. They seem to attract the worst kind of comments. People "get her" or not. And I have never, ever belonged to Fan Club since I was 10 and a member of the Roy Rogers and Cisco Kid Clubs!! I can't believe I'm so entranced with Susan! Can't wait for her to come to the USA and bring her talents, her temperament, and her cat Pebbles with her!

Just for fun I went to the Sun website...looks like the supermarket tabloids in the US where they make up fake pictures and try to make everything sensational even if they have to fake it. Have I gotten this right? Like Dec said "what a lot of tosh"

The host of the BGT Tour Show who introduces her should make a serious request to the audience to be silent when she sings. I find it irritating too.

It was that kind of weekend for Susan Boyle. A spokeswoman for the singer told The Associated Press that Ms. Boyle was scheduled to rejoin a live tour of “Britain’s Got Talent” performers at a Monday-night concert in Glasgow, after missing earlier stops on the tour over the weekend.
Posted by Anja edens on June 15, 2009
this was posted 25 minutes ago. The spokeswoman said the 48-year-old Scottish singer took a break Sunday, but is scheduled to perform in Glasgow on Monday night.

"She had one rest day, but she will be back on stage tonight," she said, adding that she expected Boyle to take part in the rest of the tour, which runs until early July. The spokeswoman spoke anonymously in line with company policy.

@Tessiel Susan will be there so if you miss one coma in your account to us you'll travel back to the USA on Ol' Dan's horse :-)

Since Pebbles will be comforting Susan, here's a little list of Do and Don'ts:} The Ten Tabby Commandments:

1. Thou shalt not jump onto the keyboard when thy human is on the computer.

2. Thou shalt not unroll all of the toilet paper off the roll.

3. Thou shalt not project hairballs from the top of the refrigerator.

4. Thou shalt not sit in front of the television as if thou art invisible.

5. Thou shalt not jump onto thy sleeping human’s bladder at 3 a.m.

6. Thou shalt not reset thy human’s alarm clock by walking on it.

7. Thou shalt not trip thy humans, even if they are walking too slowly.

8. Thou shalt not push open the bathroom door when there are guests in thy house.

9. Thou shalt not jump on the toilet seat just as thy human is sitting down.

10. Thou shalt attempt to show remorse when being scolded.

Good morning. Just finished catching up on all the messages while I was sleeping. This is the first time I've ever joined a fan club. But Susan is something special as everyone here already knows. I'm not too saavy with some of the terms here--but I'm learning lots fast. What is a troll? I see references to it with regard to the chat room and Tommy's troll free chat room. For that matter what's the difference between what we do here and a chat room? Sorry for my ignorance. I appreciate your educating me. Thanks.

I wish Suzan Boyle quick recovery, so that she could continue to take part in a tour. I wish her success in her new singing career. She got brilliant voice, and it is a shame that nobody has paid attention to her talent many years ago. She has got rough life enough, and she deserves a break from that, however signing career is hard work anyway. So back off all those who is trying to knock her down! Suzan sounds like a star and starts to look like one, and she shouldn’t be afraid of that. I think she will surprise yet us all.

@Teesiel...only a few more hours! Please try to get us any info you have on Susan's performance as soon as you can...everything! And you have fun girl! You said last night that you had sent the video of the evening show at Sheffield to Paul but it still hasn't been posted. Do you think he got it? Sounds like she did really well. Again...have a great time and we'll be living the experience with you!

bjNMEX-Trolls are goons who get on and spout verbal abuse, many times pornographic--- surely sickos if this is the way they have fun!!

DJG---I have your 3 Su-songs, but they are zipped, don't I have to unzip them before I can put them on a CD. This whole Susan Boyle thing has really forced me to confront all kinds of computer "can't dos" and turn them into "can-dos, THANX for all your help, as well as making all these Sus-goodies available to us all here on the site.

Welcome bjNewMexicoUSA: A troll, in general, is a person who wants to disturb a community. In our case a person trying to attack Susan Boyle.

Hi bj - Greetings to New Mexico from Canada - a troll is someone who is mean spirited, negative, rude, and in where Susan is concerned if they pull it - misguided. Someone who tears down. I'm go glad they're not allowed here. We want to keep Susan's light burning brightly here. I'd like to think this is a place she could check in when the any tabloid news reaches her and just see how many truly appreciate and celebrate her. I think she should have a secretary (I volunteer) to opened her mail first - discard the trolls and onlylet her see all of the mail from us who just want to support her and cheer her on. And while I'm cheering her on - I hope Scotland goes bananas for her tonight. cheers...Linda

It will be much better when this tour is over and she is recording and doing her own shows, hopefully in smaller venues. It's not to her benefit to be an "act" as part of a larger show, although obviously there is no choice at the moment.
Posted by offenre on June 15, 2009
Not to hear Susan sing now, on the tour, is, or would be, disappointing. But as already said by someone earlier, she must be well to sing for us in the future. She has already changed the world by helping us to feel more generously toward others.

Even if she were too tired to sing "up to her self- expectaations, I think a "walk on" to the stage as a gesture and a greeting to her adoring fans would be a very exhilirating moment, especially in the cities near her home. For me, such a moment would be worth the price of admission!
Posted by sbfanusa on June 15, 2009
To BJ New Mexico - in a chat room there is a more or less "live" exchange of message, almost like talking to a group in person, which is why it is called a chat. Here, messages are posted and may be responded to at once or hours laters.
Posted by maigret on June 15, 2009
From what I've read one of the changes Simon should make is to shut up the host Mulhern with his thoughtless comments. It's can't be a help to go on stage after the MC says he doesn't know if she'll be there from time to time. This is not a comedy show. I also think she should be able to cue up the tape and not let someone else drive when she has to start. They don't even let the audience settle down. Really lousy production. Heads should roll.

Earlier, some were critical of Susan wearing the same dress. I'm sure the powers that be can't wait to dress her in different outfits, but if they did it for her, they would have to do it for the other acts too. Also, they are probably thinking that it is best for the acts to wear the same as when they were in the show. I really don't care what she wears, I love her and can't believe the amount of time this obsession of mine is taking up. We are all mad.

@bjNewMexicoUSA Trolls try to snag you into a negative exchange. You'll know what's happened when you start getting exasperated which is what they want. Some trolls feign care and concern but there's a negative or destructive personal characterization that's embedded in the message. You will sense it at an intuitive level. I deal with suspected trolls by ignoring their posts and giving them a wide berth. No sense in taking in toxic stuff.

I also don't click on negative stories about Susan. Clicks on a website=money. If it's important news I will find out here or in responsible media.

Howdy Pards,

Ohhhhhhhh how the excitement is mounting now as we draw nearer and nearer to showtime at the SECC in Glasgow! And, this time, we'll have an on the spot reporter to share with us. Tessiel is gonna have a spectacular time in the arena this evening!

Around the world a whole lotta folks are once again eagerly awaiting those videos. And, let's hope that folks start recording just before Susan is announced and stop recording just before the next act is introduced. In other words please give us her complete performance if you can...none of us want to miss a minute of anything.

Oh the joy of anticipation as our Susan gets ready to perform at home in Scotland...it's almost showtime!

Adios for now. Talk to ya on down the trail.

This makes me mad. I was on the MSNTV web over a general article about Susan returning to stage in Glasgow tonite. They have a slide show of old pictures of Susan...when you see the beautiful pictures taken of Susan recently (like Patricasart has on her Photo Blog) there is absolutely no excuse for the press to keep putting up her old pictures... If Marianne, Midllow31 sees this, go to it do your slam dunk to get Susan's new pictures out there more.

Yes Susan deserves a break. What is wrong in taking a well deserve rest. Sometimes I fail to understand human beings. The tabliod said all sorts of nasty things about her and so were the rude sacarstic comments that I read in The Sun about Susan. Susan is not a machine. They thought that she is a robot! As the saying goes "The sky's the limit". There's a limit to do things otherwise one gets burn out. As for Susan's case we have to understand her that she had just recovered from stress and was just out of the Priory clinic 4 days before the BGT LIVE TOUR. Thank God. Earlier on there were fears that she might not be able to do the BGT LIVE TOUR and might be drop due to health. Then when she said she was ready to sing again, it was already made known that Susan will not do all the tours. At least she had already done 3 tours in Birmingham and Sheffield. Why cant the press and the public leave her in peace so that she can rest and recover fast from tiredness. And then be fit again to continue the next tour when she is ready. Afterall one has to consider that she is aged 48. Susan is not a pop star that rock and roll. She is more of a classical singer. Being so naive coming from a small village, West Lothian, Scotland she is not used with all the screamings, cheers, boos from the crowds that are deafening while she is singing. She is more a recording artist, movie star. Not the singer type that rock and roll, entertaining the crowds in the open air, stadium jumping up and down where the crowds can scream till their lungs get rapture. Susan we wish you speedy recovery and have a good rest. Dont please the crowds and then you rush to join the tour. Health comes first. Dont care what the tabliod and the critic says. Just be steady and be yourself. May the good Lord be with you always and protect you from all harms and dangers.

Yesterday somebody, PWattis perhaps, mentioned an expert comparing Susan to Callas which is silly and unfair but I've been listening to Maria today (she makes me weep helplessly every time) and enjoying that marvelous voice and it got me thinking. One of the greatest things about La Divina was the way she conveyed emotions through her singing; we've had, and have, many great sopranos but no one bested that. Susan also has this great way of conveying emotions through her singing and I think once she truly lets go, and is free from all the pressures and constraints of BGT, we are going to hear something exceptional. Also a CD is different, there is just you and the voice, the music ... hmm, yes, am definitely looking forward to it. :)

Thanks, Tommy for posting the article for the Huffington Post...I went on Piers Blog under the Fiesty, Funny, Lady article today and blew up my comments on this website, as well. The world needs to know Susan has the most prestigous group of followers from all walks of life, as well as top notch educators, religious leaders, and professionals from all over the world. I stated that in my entire lifetime I had never seen anything that could compare to this...community of fans of Susan Boyle. In my opinion, she's going to surpass the Beatle mania of the 60's. Congrats to Paul for his hind site to create this great place for us to share.

I'm currently working on an improved audio mp3 version of the Sheffield performance. I'm applying some DSP techniques to it at the moment - I've managed to reduce the bass blur down, rebalance the audio, and I've managed to isolate her voice out of the rest of the background and double the intensity of it. It is never going to be perfect, but I've just listened to it on CD and it sounds like she's singing next to you! I've got some more stuff to do on it yet to get it into something you can all have, but once I've finished I'll make it available to you all for download.

The anticipation is growing around the world as Susan prepares to take center stage shortly. If someone was at the first audition and goes again to watch tonight which I'd assume would probably be the whole audiance that was at the audition, please come back and share some of your stories the second time. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Whoever gets to go again all I have to say is (You Lucky Dogs (Cats), lol. Entertainment on that grand a scale is priceless.

Looking at the schedule for this week, if I were to guess, I'd say Susan will take one day off during the week, probably Wednesday or Thursday, then probably again on Sunday. I would if I were her. It's hard for anyone to work 7 days a week and I bet some of the other acts don't perform everynight either.

God Bless ya Susan and good luck tonight. I'm sure it'll be another resounding success to add to the pile and I just have to same I'm jealoussssssssssss I can't watch it live.

Everyone has been soo nice and supportive of our flying over the pond to see Susan tonight and tomorrow night in Edinburgh (fingers crossed, of course that she makes it). Thank you Susan fans--we are all one team!! The concierge told me that Simon Cowell will be at SECC tonight for Susan--not sure if true or not. Won't believe SHE is even there until I see it. Oh so I went into Primark today in Glasgow because as we all read Susan got her jacket at a Primark. Found myself looking at all of the highland hills wondering which one she sat on for her BGT interview!! I bought a cable link today to upload video from my phone (blackjack 2) to my mac--will do my best--others will probably beat me to it. I will tell you everything that I think you'd want to know from the show tonight and tomorrow. We are definitely stopping in Blackburn on the way to Edinburgh tomorrow--will look for Jackie Russell to pass on all the kind words

I'm a bit late joining the discussion today but noticed someone talking about the cat duet. If you haven't found it yet, it's by Rossini and is sung by a soprano and mezzo. Just go to "cat duet soprano and mezzo" on YouTube and you will find several choices. It's lots of fun. Glad that Susan is getting back to the tour today. Someone mentioned that she should just record and do a few special appearances but I though Susan's wish was to sing before a live audience. Anyway, whatever she does should be in moderation until she gets used to being a star. I agree, she is more beautiful each day. I do hope this indicates that she is happy now. She is certainly making millions of fans happy!!

Hmmmm rumors flying on youtube. Simon and Piers are both going to tonight's show. Is Amanda showing up too? No word on her yet. Susan is selling out every theater and they said people are begging for tickets. Has anyone heard anymore about The Royal Variety? I heard the Queen has requested Susan be there to perform. That was awhile ago though.
Posted by Kalua on June 15, 2009
It's going to be 2 long hours as from now sigh
Posted by fumingjane on June 15, 2009
Amazingly: No pressure, eh? Poor Susan !!! Simon,Piers, 5,000 hysterical fans. Can she perform with earplugs?

Wonder how many fans in the audience are loaded up to video the performances? This could turn into an electronics show!

I have to pace myself beause if I don't I'd spend all day at this computer susanboyling as my husband calls it. About the host of the show. I don't know about him. If you watched the end of the finals he was way too giddy and extatic(sp?) about Diversity and I thought at the time he was not for our Susan AT All and was glad she was second..he carried on way too much. It's almost as if he were a troll and there are hidden meanings in his introduction, like an undercurrent of sarcasm. She DOES need some time to settle down after coming to the mic. The audience can also settle a bit befor she sings. She needs time to acknowledge the audience and they need time to cheer for her. Once everyone is settled, let the singing begin!!! I agree..this is horrible producing!!!!!! Love Our Susan so much...Hopefully kinks will get ironed out. Can't wait for report about tonight..will stay up all night if I have to..This is crazy..I am 63 and have NEVER been such a fan of ANYBODY even the Beatles.....
Posted by YourAwesome on June 15, 2009
AmazinglyCritical...SUSAN IS THE SHOW!!! I believe that is why the tickets are selling out!!

I heard nothing about the Royal Variety show....BUT I believe the Queen will invite Susan!!!

Kalua....RELAX...LOL We are always like kids at Christmas time...Can't wait to hear/see her sing again!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I was away for a couple of hours--other things I had to do. Thanks to those who defined trolls and chat rooms for me. Not only does this site provide a place to share all of our love for Susan, but is also a great spot to upgrade my tech knowledge.

How wonderful that one of our own is actually there right now in the auditorium to hear Susan. We know we'll get an accurate report of tonight's concert from Tessiel. Can't wait to hear.
Posted by BJG on June 15, 2009
Glorious Glascow! Please don't forget us way out here while Susan is singing. Can't wait to hear how she is doing!
Posted by friendopunkin on June 15, 2009
This is kind of a late post on Susan's "forgetful" moment. I agree with those who said they don't believe she was crying or caught up in the emotion of the moment. I do agree that she was probably startled by the loudness/noise (not to mention rudeness) of the fans in the audience. And it was the being distracted that caused her momentarily to forget the line a wee bit. For those of you who may remember, there was an interview with the pastor of her church, Father Basil Clark, way back when (after the audition tape aired). This is a partial qoute from Father Clark: "Anyone who sees her for the first time behaves the same way. I have never heard her sing badly, though she might lose the words if the stress gets too much." I'm glad she got a rest, and I'm sure she will rock Glasgow and Scootland. Enjoy the shows, Teesiel. Can't wait for your reports! Fran from Philly

Fran---that's a SUPER interview with Piersy baby and he's 10000% positive about our Susan and 10000% NEGATIVE about the press. I would hope that the British scum-bag rags might hear just a little of what Piers is saying!!!
Posted by Kalua on June 15, 2009
My wife has phoned me already 4 times in the last 40 mns to ask me if I have news. How about that?
Posted by mdillow31 on June 15, 2009
it will be great to hear Susan in Glasgow today but I hope some of the screaming would let up while she is singing but I guess some just can't help it as they are so thrilled to see and hear her in person. :)
Posted by LucyB on June 15, 2009
Hey you electronic wizards---the BBC interview with Piersy Babe that was posted by Fran just about 10 posts ago, really MUST be in the videos available in this fansite. I have NO IDEA how to do it!!
Posted by YourAwesome on June 15, 2009
Yes Mdillow....I think the screaming is distracting. The fans should be told ahead of time to (be a tad quieter) during everyone's performance. BUT guess we can't control everything.

Kalua...LOL LOL Look what you started!

Fran..Good article..thanks for posting!!
Posted by AmazinglyCritical on June 15, 2009
Well, no sense in Susan worrying anymore about who she's performing infront of. Easier said than done, but, well over 200 million hits on youtube, I think the more she does, the less nervous she'll become. She said she always wanted to perform infront of a large audiance, she didn't know she'd be performing infront of the LARGEST audiance.

mdillow, the screaming is never going away. They have to adjust the volume like they do rock concerts. Turn it up so loud, it drowns out the audiance during the live performance. So, people inside the building don't hear what we hear on a video. I don't think it's a coincidence that when you search Susan Boyle Sheffield on youtube, that, Metallica comes up along with hers. For me, louder the better, and Susan has the pipes to be the loudest instrument going.
Posted by Patricia's Art on June 15, 2009
Thanx for the link to the Piers hardtalk interview. I'm glad he is clearing the air that Susan DOES NOT have a mental state! I never believed that tabloid nonsense and hopefully if Piers keeps standing up for her it will fade away! Already it seems the tide is turning and the news is becoming more positive. I'll be so glad when we all can put BGT talent behind us and Susan has her own career !
Posted by BJG on June 15, 2009
I heard that when Susan "snaps" her hair it is a Scotch way of expressing anger or rejection. I couldn't find someone who was sure.
Posted by AmazinglyCritical on June 15, 2009
I agree with YourAwsome. LOL, on a SusaPerformance day, we're all acting like kids on Christmas, as though, Santa Clause is coming.

So many interesting posts to read, again, today!

Teesiel, I'm green with envy! I would give practically anything to be in your shoes! Enjoy this unique moment! You'll remember it for ever! I bet it will be really emotional for Susan, too, coming back to that Glasgow venue where she performed in front of a large public and showed her immense talent for the first time! And she didn't know then she was actually performing before the whole world! As a journalist told her just before the semis "No pressure Susan! Only the world will be watching you!" I bet when she's back on that stage, she will feel she's come a long way indeed since that audition day!

Mdillow and Piggie, I suffer from the same obsessive syndrome! Sue's songs keep ringing in my head wherever I am and whatever I do! I think once you get connected with her, you can never lose the connection! Maybe the link goes down to a place within us which is tuned to eternity... We were all shocked in a positive way by her first performance, the effect lingers and is every day rekindled by yet another smashing performance!

Sassyone, I don't quite agree with you. I think Susan absolutely loves to perform. But it's true that kind of pop/rock concert hysteria is probably not the best for her. Besides, she looks so wonderful on stage, we would really miss something if she was just contented with recording CDs. By the way, have you noticed the way stage lights made her dress shine in the close up Sheffield video? She seemed to be wrapped in silvery moonlight!

Casey'smom, I absolutely adore that story about the Shepperd Dogs lying down in front of the altar! No wonder our comments sometimes deal with religious or supernatural topics. There is indeed something unreal or maybe surreal about Susan's story and singing. Did you notice Susan was holding beads in her hand as she arrived to Birmingham Arena? She's certainly protected by God and her own mother above...

Foodhistorian, that was a good one, I'll send those Commendments to a friend of mine who loves cats...

Hi All: Just a note - have not been on the site for awhile. Common sense should prevail here and in the spirit, love, forgivess and everything else Susan means to each of us lets just enjoy. I wish you would think of some things. Two shows were a strain on Susan and her voice. But perhaps it was just to rest her voice for this evenings and tomorrow evenings performances. After all, she has family and friends in the those two areas. Maybe she just wanted to be at her best for those at home, in Scotland, and let them know she's still their princess (as well as ours).

Tommy - get ready, get a cup of coffee and belt yourself in you seat for a heck of a wonderful ride.

Personally I wouldn't care if she showed up in a fitted burlap bag - we love Susan and her messasge to the world!!!

Keep positive thoughts and it will be a short time to see how it goes and what happens..keep the news links up to date cause we can't all be everywhere and the first reveal of tonights performance - no matter the quality...share with all of us. PLLEEAASSEE!

Janet That's my name also! I am 64 and live in Indiana. I have been Susanboyleing since early morning. I am totally fascinated by her. I cannot seem to pull myself away from the computer. I have never been affected by any singer like I have Susan. I thought I might be losing my sanity until I read how other people are affected by her singing. I wouldn't even know how to put into words how this little lady from Scotland has affected me. Comforting to know everyone else is struck the same way.

I am holding her in my prayers, as always. Our girl is doing what she loves to do - lighting up the world.

Thanks tommy for the article and video feed. Piers says susan is fine and loving to perform. It is good to hear she loves this. And that it is the media bring her down. I hope she listens only to the good right now. Glad she is fine. I see that her spunk and courage and love of singing and entertaining her fans has not wained. She is such a JEWEL!!!!!!

Now, there's a mess of different personalities in this here outfit so we don't always agree on everything...you just can't put 23,000 people in a room and expect them to agree on everything...but we do all agree on one thing. Yessirreebob, every last one of us is a genuine, authentic, real, honest-to-gosh, rip-snortin' fan of a wonderful lady from Blackburn, West Lothian, Scotland... a lady named Susan Boyle.

Welcome to the celebration!

Adios for now. Talk to ya on down the trail.

You know I keeep thinking about the christmas CD. I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't susan's idea with regards to when it comes out. I have a sneeky feeling it is a gift from her to us. A christmas present. Whonder if that also is an indication of tours. I keep thinking that, I don't know why. I also wirsh sisan could speak to the audience both before her performances. I can hear her now. How lovely. Another thought How about we write oprah asking her to have susan physically on her show. I bet if we all emailed her it would happen.

Fox News is talking about Susan now! (no, she is not on stage!)
Posted by bjNewMexicoUSA on June 15, 2009
Just listened to the interview with Piers on BBC. I'm glad he finally put it back in their laps--that Susan was fine until the media turned on her. And he emphasized that she didn't have mental problems and that he was talking with her every day. It's time the media take responsibility for the part they played in increasing the pressure on Susan. Maybe they'll stop making a big deal out of things--like her not making the tour in Manchester. It was a given from the beginning that she was not going to do every event. Go Piers!

How can we explain our love for this Scotish lady...if I wake up at night, I'm thinking about her or her voice in song in my head is the first thing I am aware of..this is NUTS and I LOVE IT. It is so good to have a place to go to express myself or I might begin to doubt my sanity. It is so comforting to KNOW that so many others feel the same and have the same experiences...I should stop trying to explain it and enjoy. I'm trying but the anticipation about tonights perormance is KILLING me..oh yeah..the Piers interview on Talkback is so good You go Piers!!!!...Keep those thugs in line..when the Emcee started talking over Piers I started shouting..you idiot, that is exactly what he is talking about shut up and get on the Susan bandwagon. There are still articles coming up on Google about Susan pulling out of the tour and NOT singing---my heart did a bit of a somersault until I checked the article and saw it was discussing Manchester. Now if somehow there are certain pictures of Susan that could be ERASED from ALL FILES, then the news would be even better to read. Amazing how the press delights in finding the absolutely WORST PICTURES to put up with their articles.

Jan, I agree. It was kind of fun watching your tirade...I totally agree.

I have watched just about every video on the fan site and despite the poor quality, the quality comes over from Susan.

Just one comment though, why do the audience scream and shout and not listen in silence to the beautiful sound coming from Susan? Can't they scream and shout at the end. The songs are not being appreciated properly.

I suppose the icing on the cake will be when her first album comes out, then we can all be mesmerised in private!

ARGH! Ok, like Susan I wear my mother's wedding band...last night it was bothering me, so I removed it in the bathroom, left it on the counter by the sink. I woke up started my daily routine only to see it was MISSING!

I asked my oldest, have you seen it, she said yes, right where I left, it and she had not touched it. My youngest, I asked her, she said YES, I have it, in my room. I said please do you touch mummy's things? she said no, but now she cannot find it. I'm so angry today. It's been part of my life since my mother's death. Ten years this Dec and I cannot find it. I'm so stinking angry at her. I never spank my kids but dman, this time I wanna.

Storms off furiously. Adding a few swear words. :/

OK, I just have to tell ya"ll this (Ya"ll is Texan for you all) I didn't do dishes, I walked out to the patio. I live in the Texas Hill Country and we have 2 acres 1/2 left natural so the white tail deer have a safe place. It is almost time for fawns to show up. This usually happens about the 1st of July. As I sat down I saw a Mom with a new born fawn at the water barrel we keep for them. The fawn was no bigger than my Beagle, jumping and running around playfully. I sooo started crying..It's an omen!!!!!! This waiting is geting to me...Hope to hear good news soon. NOW I HAVE to do the dishes..see ya later (probably sooner ;-)

Posted by Lonnirose on June 15, 2009
ML, some people are just plumb ignorant, as we say here in KY. Stay here, be happy.

The more I try to deal with Youtube, the more disgusted I get. All they want to show is old news or something unpleasant. I'm still mad at them for posting the wrong phone # for Susan's voting. And denying it.

I know she'll be marvelous - I just want to seeeeee.

Hello Everybody,

I do agree, absolutely, totally agree, with Wild Ol'Dan! How wonderfully you formulated in words, Wild'Ol' Dan, everything, that we felt about Susan - that she longs to re-connect with her audience, and that the best way to do it is for her to speak with the audience - that even a few words, that she would say to those people, who gather to listen to her, would help her feel more relaxed, and more connected to them! And it is a wonderful idea - for a little girl to give Susan flowers!

By my own experience I know, how helpful it is - to talk to the audience before the concert, I do it always, before my concerts and recitals - I tell the audience about the pieces, that are in the program, and it does help me relax before the performing, and helps the audience perceive the music better.I would strongly recommend our dear Susan to speak to the audience - it works both ways - for the performer and for the audience.

All the best to everyone here,

susanwin

When out shopping in Bathgate on the 27th March I saw her being followed around by a film crew and wondered what on earth was going on. Little did i know what was to come. Go Susan.

@Oggles - yes, it's annoying but remember what Susan said, "I'm gonna make that audience rock" and they're rocking away. Can't curbe their enthusiasm! Though, applauding and cheering throughout a performance does seem to be more of a Brit thing - just my take.
Posted by 2SusanBFans on June 15, 2009
I'm watching the first performance on you tube with no problems. She is so fantastic! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PPlkOyaqaQ

Can't get on the internet either. Server too busy!
Posted by bjNewMexicoUSA on June 15, 2009
The article is the same old thing. It does say that she sang in Glasgow. Since they fell back on the same old thing, I take that as good news. IT must mean that Susan did a great job and they had nothing new to criticize. Otherwise they couldn't have had to go back to their old files.
Posted by mabean on June 15, 2009
Hi everyone of you wonderful Susan fans, we have been moving and did the big move yesterday so haven't had a chance to be here much, getting caught up today. Isn't our Susan just beautiful in this picture, I was awe struck when I saw it. Hope she had a good rest and enjoys Glasgow. I have now had my Susan fix so I can get back to work. Thank you all for the great posts and pictures and keeping all of us updated on our Dear Susan. Just can't get enought of her!!!!!!!! Loved Piers interview on how she is doing, glad he is defending her!

Does anyone knoew if Susan was the last act in the show...if so we should be hearing from Teesiel soon!
Posted by maigret on June 15, 2009
@patriciasart. I love your scrapbook. I'm checking it out as I wait for Teesil to check in. Had Susan in my head form 11 am PDT, wishing her well in Glasgow. Most papers even Glasgow had old stuff even on their breaking news. I'm getting a perverse pleasure out of crashing Youtube, given that they messed up the voting. I wonder if there's anyway we can get a bulletin from the webmaster as we wander through the site.
Posted by Kalua on June 15, 2009

Re:Susan's smile

Wild Ol'Dan,TommyUSA, all Susafans

Long-time-no-see :-) Have been busy (work, social life, sports,-other hobbies, neglected those a bit.)

Wild Ol'Dan,you're not the only one missing Susan's smile!

My favorite Susasmile is the one where she is sitting down and having a cup of tea. She is wearing that lace dress. Her 'lucky dress' she called it, read it somewhere. An other picture is the one where we see her as a small child sitting in a large chair and the one sitting behind the piano with her teddybear...soooo nice! Aah, well, love all her pictures and vids '-)

I also like the idea of the bouquet and Susan having a few minutes to say something to the audience, before singing.

Maybe one day, when she has her own show, anywhere in the world. We're waiting in line in The Netherlands '-)

Bye for now, from rainy Amsterdam/Netherlands Ger

OMG! You have got to go to the article DocRobbie posted above. The article has basically no information, but click on the "pictures" next to it. Click the arrows. If they are ordered the same way for everyone, the 4th picture is one of Piers in an advert. LOL!!! What would Susan think???
Posted by sassyone on June 15, 2009
aliz thanks for the encouragement. I know she didn't mean to take it, it's not like her to do that. She did say she wanted to wear it because it was pretty. So, I didn't get that upset with her. The teachers said she'll find it, as Maddie knows where she placed it last. I'm not going to stress over it because I have a million other things to stress about.

Just a short advice to all: Stay away from tabloids pooperazi. Each click on those sites is one too many. They are commercially funded, so staying away from them with our tens of millions might is the best way to make the commercial industry think twice of putting an add there. Do only read respectable newspapers and media. Don't buy tabloids too. Send this strong message to all Susan Boyle fans and their income will drop.

@geramsterdam - if Kalua has it, we may wait a bit less ah? Am very impatient, so pff indeed!

BethInTheUSA, I know what you mean. I once lost my healing crystal. it was a gift from my husband. It's also another thing I wear on my body every single day. And when it went missing I had a panic attack. It was the worst feeling in the world. I did find it, under the sofa which means my one of my kids got a hold of it. I know I will find my ring. but at this moment i'm not going to stress over it because I had much work to do.

281165: you are right. I've been leaving comments on some of the stories to counteract the mean comments, but it is better not to click on the stories at all. Any click is a bad click since it stokes their revenue. I hereby resolve to quit doing it!

My two Tibetan Mastiffs are laying near by, waiting for Susan news too.

going to get lunch while we all wait.

That link at DocRobbie shows a slide show, and one photo of Piersy baby is a bit 'racy' with him in almost no clothes. I wonder if that is appropiate to put on a news article with Susan, knowing that Susan once had a crush on Piers. Anyway. I love the way Pierse defended Susan today in British TV. Wonderful of him to back out Susan.

Love to Susan and her fans, Joan
