I was so awed by the voice but each time I see an interview with Susan, I just would like very much to know her. She has a wonderful sense of humor as well as a vast pool of talent. I do not understand why Simon has not signed her. Still has lot of time to share that voice. When she is singing, her face glows with a happiness she just wants to share with anyone who will listen and once she hits on the first note, she commands you to listen. DON'T LET HER GET AWAY!

I heard people asking each other if they had seen Susan. So I searched on YT found her video, and by the end of first verse I was crying and cheering at the same time. I sent it to everyone I know. And the reaction has been tremendous no matter where in the world they lived. Soon people will be asking "where were you when you first heard Susan Boyle?" I hope she sings Sir Andrew's song "It's my time." Really it's like he wrote it for her and didn't know it.

I have long heard and seen links on Facebook about her. It was only now that I took the chance to satisfy my curiosity. I CRIED! I CRIED! I CRIED! I could feel her sincerity to share her talent, notwithstanding her looks or status. She has real talent, and that really made me cry--PURE TALENT--not one of packaged, adulterated by gimmickry or marketing. You are an angel, Ms. Susan Boyle!

Susan, my name is Paulette, I'm from Tasmania in Australia, I was moved and in awe of your talent. I loved what I saw you sing but I would love to see you record a strong song like I am Woman, or even These Boots Were Made for Walking in the spirit of Nancy Sinatra. You have shown everyone that age does not preclude talent. You have rocked the singing industry. Full kudos to you! Bravo!

Susan Boyle's instant fame has dwarfed the BGT show. It doesn't matter if she wins or loses. If she wins, everyone will say it was deserved, and if she loses, they'll say she should have won. There will be a mad rush for her first CD, when it finally appears after all of this. She will be in demand on shows, and if she wants to, she will go on tour. Computer and media analysts will study the phenomenon of going from being an unknown to being a household name in a period of a week. It may become known as the Susan Boyle Phenomenon. Wait and see.

The amazing effect of watching "the birth of a star" video has a sensational healing effect on almost every viewer so far: facial muscles relax, eyes become watery and an expression of delight spreads on one`s face. We replay the magical video a zillion times. Why do millions of people all over the planet become addicted to Susan Boyle`s voice? Why does she make us cry? It is probably the rare and unique combination of her angelic voice and her pure unconditional love that does the trick. Her singing penetrates our heart - blasting all emotional defensive barricades that surround it. Her voice acts like a natural anti-depressant: it vibrates our mind and soul and probably causes an elevation of serotonin levels in our brain inciting a pure sensation of delight and joy in our minds and a feeling of love and compassion in our hearts.

What can I say !! To hear such a voice, after all these years ( I am 75). God must be good because, He has blessed you with such a wonderful voice. You sure have made my day ! The only thing I can find wrong is, the tears will not stop !! I have now seen the tape over 40 times and still the tears flow. I love the way you sing, the person who you are, and hope to hear many new and wonderful things to come !!! I only hope you go on to win. Still does it really matter, you are who you are. May all the good things that life is going to display before you, fill your heart and soul !! I love your voice.

Ever since I heard your voice, Susan, I keep hearing it. What a great gift you are sharing with the world. You are so connected to your inner being and we all feel it when you sing. You are a powerful mirror for everyone to trust their inner connection as well. This sharing is healing you and all of us. I pray for you always that your courage to be who you are continues to strengthen in every moment and that you continue to be unfazed by any of the negative cruelty that is always around and testing all of us. Namaste (the god in me honors the god in you.)

You must have read my mind, sbfanusa. After hearing the two songs she recorded ten years ago, I don’t think she needs to wait until after the Britain’s Got Talent contest is over to start producing her own records. She’s already become bigger than that show and she’s waited long enough. Whether she win’s or not, she already has an enormous following and they are not going to stop following her if , through some insipid vote-casting, she doesn’t win. Her success does not depend on winning that contest. Her success is here already. The only reason I care whether or not she wins is because it’s what she deserves and I want her to have it. But I’m ready to buy at least one of every album she produces and I don’t need Simon’s involvement to feel justified. She did a marvelous job with the two she did produce. They are now the best recordings ever made of those two songs, period! She would probably oppose this idea because she is so unassuming. What do you think?
Posted by Eloise on April 22, 2009
Not to worry, Jacque. That raptured look on Simon's face during the audition has $$$ written all over it. It's the same look he got with Paul Potts -- and look where HE is now! Simon will have Susan signed up and in the recording studio within a week of the BGT Final, guaranteed. I predict Susan's career will take off just as Paul's did, with CD, world concert tour, etc......Paul's audition on YouTube, by the way, generated the exact same reaction: the same emotions, the same outpouring, the same need to share feelings with each other. People identify with both in the same way. They even use the same words to describe their thoughts and feelings.

Phoxee - you are I are in complete agreement. I especially liked "Cry me a river" on the charity CD as it had a professional sound. I'm sure she will sound even more spectacular on a professionally produced CD than she did on the BGT YouTube video played on my small computer speakers. I just hope that all this publicity isn't too overwhelming for her. Imagine going from living her quiet life to being a celebrity in such a short time.

One of the Judges said she had taught them humility. I would prefer they be taught humanity.

I believe Susan Boyle is wonderful to hear and sing. She reminds me of my Aussie mother and grandmother. And a little bit she reminds me of me. The 50ish, not quite proper, less than perfect part, not her voice, that I couldn't hope to match in a million years.

I do hope that this sweet woman tells them all to get off, all the "make over artists" who take 50 women from in front of the Today Show, push them through a wringer, and have them all look alike on the other side. She doesn't need to do that. She is already so far past them in ability as to be earth-moving.

There isn't any rule that says you have to be beautiful on the outside in order to sing. You do, however, have to be beautiful on the inside - and Susan is beautiful, all the way to the bone.

I hope that she gets her dream, and if she does cut an album (do they call it that now) I will be the first in line. It will be the third time I have become a fan. She joins the ranks of John Handy and Cleo Laine. Quite good company, actually.

Susan, you really have had a major impact. The world, starving for substance and real inner beauty, has found a bit of a lifeline in you.

God brought you to the stage at your kairos moment(appointed time).

It is hard to fathom being able to connect with you and all these people as we "accompany" you on your journey.

Listen....this music is playing in hearts the world over.

Let's not waste the dream that Susan sang about; make room for the talents of others, so that businesses, education, science, families, churches, and governments might each echo the beautiful music of the heart.

I believe Susan has more than just the gift of her voice. Which by all means is not only astonishing but also incredibly rich. But she's blessed in the gift of her heart in the way she cared for her sick mother, her family and how she treats her friends / neighbors.

Blessed in her ordinary appearance and kind /humble heart that she's as a child of our Lord. It's exactly those traits that made her performance so touching and turning all to tears in these difficult times all over the world.

No matter how gifted one is, one must be humble enough to realize only could we accomplish such incredible talent with the Master holding and guiding us. Only can one enter the kingdom of God when one acts like these little children. Blessed are those who are meek and humble in spirit.

But in all, I believe both Susan Boyle and Paul Potts are reminders what incredible gifts the Lord can bestow upon us ordinary folks. I applaud them both for their incredible talent, courage and spirit to share with us all.

Dear Susan, the very first time I heard you sing "I've Got A Dream" via YouTube I got the chill-bumps... this means the hair on my arms rise and stand-up on end... which usually means, for me, my heart and soul were moved beyond words. You have a tremendous voice! NOW is your time. Be true to yourself.. don't forget yourself during all the excitement and don't be taken in by all the glamour and the excitement. YOU are beautiful from the inside - out. My wish for you is for you to achieve the "Dream" you've been waiting for. I Believe In You Susan - go the distance girl-friend.

Susan, If I could meet with you and talk with you, I would first give you the biggest hug _EVER! Through you , in a way I got to see a dream that I had and was killed when my ex husband strangled me and crushed my vocal cords so I lost my high soprano voice! Now I serve God in a different capacity. I used to sing things like Handel's Messiah and the like and that dream vanished when I we 24 years old. Like you I am just a "plain jane" and because of people being judged by the cover of a book rather than looking what's inside a person, I probably wouldn't have stood a chance even if my vocal cords weren't crushed.

I tell you this because You are a beautiful lady inside and out and your voice is that of an angel. Because of you, I can live my "dream" through you and I pray to god tha tone day we shall meet and get to know each other. I am 63 years ol and have been in a wheelchair since I was 20 due to a spinal cor injury I got while I was an army nurse during the Vietnam War.

I am SOOOOO PROUD OF YOU AND YOUR COURAGE TO NOT LISTEN TO HOW PEOPLE JUDGE YOU AND FOR GIVING THEM A LESSON IN HUMILITY! i WANT TO SEE YOU GO ALL THE WAY. tHE SAD THING IS THAT I MAY NEVER KNOW IT BECAUSE OF LIVING IN THE USA. I SURE WISH THEY HAD BRITIAN'S GOT TALENT HERE! [PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS AS YELLING - IT IS STRONG EMPHASIS]

God bless you dear lady and I hope that he will tkae you all the way. I will be one of the first to purchase your albums and /or videos..if they will ever get them her to the USA so I can. Imay have to impose on one of my British friends in Norfolk to help me if they don't! Love You and I am praying for you to go all the way. Hope there si a way to keep me informed. Still say it would be awfully grand to be able to communicate with you!

I wish her all the success in the world and more!

Last night my wife and I watch Susan Boyle on Youtube, we sat in amazement and cried. Her voice was one of the most beautiful we have ever heard. We watch the reaction of the Audience/Judges and saw how they prejudged Susan when she was being interviewed, this saddened us. They judged her just on her looks and due to her looks they believed she did not have any talent. God and Susan gave them a wake up call. There are many people on this earth that society view as ugly or undesirable yet God has blessed them with a talent. God has blessed Susan Boyle and I thank God we now can hear her sing. If you watched her sing and had no reaction, your soul must be hardened! This woman is radient when she sings, she is totally amazing.

Only two voices have touched my soul with thier beauty. They are so unexpected. The wrapping is less than ordinry, but, the gift is supreme! Only Luciano Pavarotti and Susan Boyle have had the ability to send people into a state of euphoria with thier voices! Just look at the Judges faces!.....BRAVO! BRAVO!BRAVO!!!

This video pretty much sums up how I felt when I first viewed the first Susan Boyle BGT video clip. Now, I cannot stop listening to any and everything she sings and says, via this fan site and my Google alerts. Something about That Voice--it truly reaches down and squeezes my heart--just wrings it right on out! I cannot wait to get hold of a CD, once Susan has one produced--am certain it'll receive lots of play here. Just sign me 'totally captivated here in Texas'...(sigh...)

After I 'recovered' from listening to Susan the first time, I thought: oh, I HOPE she'll do 'Memory' (from Cats) as one of her BGT's songs. And guess what! Looks like it's probably gonna happen! I found this link and read all about it--since we aren't supposed to reproduce articles I'll just post the link! Go read all about it! HOORAY--YOU GO, SUSAN! http://tinyurl.com/dclbcu

With the internet and YouTube, the rapidity of Susan's rise to fame has been an overnight thing that must very shocking to her. The adoration that is pouring forth has got to have a tremendous impact on her as well. So my suggestion that she start producing recordings ASAP may not be a good one. I just don't want her let anything that happens with that contest discourage her in any way because she's already bigger than that. Win, lose or draw, Susan, you have arrived. You have an army behind you and don't you forget it. We all love you to pieces!

Chegamos? Não chegamos?

Today they're fussing over Susan saying she'd never been kissed, and later saying it was only a joke. They're claiming she was trying to get sympathy. I can't believe this! Susan, IGNORE THEM!!! I knew from day 1, when you wiggled your hips on stage, that you were only kidding. My Mom was just like that herself. Maybe the rest of the world doesn't get Scottish humor, or who knows? I think they have a problem. Just sing and enjoy yourself, and joke all you want. You sure lift up my spirits, if I'm the only one on earth that gets your jokes.

Miss Susan~Probably just like most others, I was told that I had to see you perform and had heard alot of comments made. I had the video on the computer playing and my 9 year old called from the next room wanting to know who was singing. He stopped playing a video game to listen to you. A 9 year old boy turned off his video game for you. Along with myself, he had tears in his eyes and before he went back into his room, he made a comment. "She is beautiful." He asked me the next day if I knew more about you so we found what we could. He wrote about you for a school assignment on inspirational people. Not only have you touched millions of men and women, but also children. Especially a 9 year old little boy who thinks the world of you. I agree with him. You are an exceptionally beautiful person with an astounding gift. Thank you for allowing me the honor of listening.

Susan, You have taken the world by storm. In the first 3o seconds the world came to it feet. I have never, ever, been a fan, here at 54 years of age. I am so happy for you and proud of you, that you stood there, gave your all and swooned the world with your God given gift of your voice and song. Keep true to you and your faith and stay safe from the crooks and money hackers. God will use you in a great way. Oh, how I would love to hear you sing Amazing Grace. Get a trusted manager and as the men line up to smooze you, be careful and guard your heart. Not since the Beatles, has the USA been taken over in just a few seconds...My prayers are with you. Maybe someday you could do a Christian hymns and gospel CD with some latest worship music. Don't change...be yourself and enjoy every moment. May God keep you and smile upon you and just bless your socks off!!! Jan, USA

An Angel Sang

From out of nowhere came an angel Pure in body and mind, Standing up in front of millions Who at first were blind. The from a single note it all changed Shock registered on faces, Her voice clear and so wonderful Was like a gift of graces.

They had judged her before she sang She was seen as a waste, Her looks didn’t suit convention And wasn’t to their taste. Now they roared their full approval Felt guilt at their thoughts, And to many of those that watched A valuable lesson she taught.

Never look just at the outside of anyone For inside hides the gift, And as she sang in beautiful tones She gave all hearts a lift. This happened when life is not good Recession in all places, In that moment spirits were touched Tears running down faces.

A joyous moment for this lovely angel Her future is now assured, She is seen in all places as herself No more taunts endured.

She is truly an inspiration. She has a fantastic voice and deserves everything that is coming her way. I sincerely hope that her image doesn't get in the way, though. I still hope the world doesn't shun her because she isn't a stick thin woman with a gaunt face.

I hope for her next song Susan will sing something equally as powerful! I suggest "With One Look" or "As If We Never Said Goodbye" from "Sunset Blvd". "Whistle Down the Wind" might not connect with the audience as powerfully.

How Susan affected me: Susan taught me. Taught me not to judge; taught me humility, forgiveness, resiliency, tenacity. Taught me that you are never too old. Taught me to follow my dreams. Taught me that a whole life can be framed in just one song. Taught (or reminded me) that there are many kinds of beauty. Whenever I hear her angelic voice, I am reminded of these things. THANK YOU SUSAN! And PLEASE make a CD. It would be a gift to humanity.

Susan, truly has touched the world!! I live in Seattle, WA, but all my friends in Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Holland, Argentina, New York, San Francisco, have all heard and seen the video. We all cried!! I cant say how deeply touched I was when I saw that video!! Susan, I dont know if you get to read these posts or not, but, if you do, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You, have given us hope and in a matter of a few minutes, your personality, your awesome voice, was like a tsunami that washed away all the cynicism, all the discrimination thousands of people face everyday. You taught us a big lesson. I hope you will never change!!

What a beautiful woman Susan Boyle is. I don't know how many people realize what a selfless sacrifice it is for someone to put caring for aging parents ahead of their own interests - WOW. I am an awe of Susan because her voice is beautiful but beyond that I can tell that she is a truly beautiful woman inside - and I hope that she won't let all the fame change that about her.

I am a small business owner in Utah USA having a very rough time paying my bills, staying in business & seeing anything positive about our current global situation.

Susan Boyle gives me hope when I need it most, she is the tiny bit of sun we are all needing to get us through the storm, she makes me belive in dreams again & makes me feel wonderful about myself.

Susan has no idea how powerful she is, when my grandchildren & great grandchildren read in their history books of the great crash of 08 & 09 Susan Boyle will be a gigantic part of that history only Susan will be seen as the hero, & she is.

Thank You Susan Boyle from Logan Utah

I loved the first notes and the reaction from everyone. See Simon Cowell raise his eyebrows was just priceless. Her performance was stunning, but the reaction from the people who just seconds before thought her incapable of such a voice was just as stunning. Personally I found Susan to be delightful in the little videos before her performance. Perhaps others called her dowdy but she had a twinkle in her eye and the most wonderful dimples. And what courage - to stand up to an audience and judging panel that had clearly written her off shows an inner strength of which we can all be envious. Susan - I wish you the very best and will follow your career with much interest. P.S. - You're already as successful as Elaine Page:)

The love of the world and it's effects have destroyed beauty and purity in us. Susan is unspoiled. She has lived a tested, pure, unselfish life. She is not promiscuous; she has never had an abortion; she does not have pride or a desire for revenge (although she has many reasons for wanting it); she has taken the high road and resisted temptation; she has not turned to addictions for solace; she has been content with what she has; she has not behaved hatefully towards others, she has loved and given, and given and given to others, family first then her neighbor; and honored God. That is why we have not seen talents like Paul Potts and Susan Boyle before. We have not had the opportunity to witness talent that has with it all the benefits of inner beauty that has been unspoiled by inner sinfulness. Now we see and the contrast makes us speechless! Which would you rather be? It looks like millions of us would like to emulate Susan. We can. Give your life to God!

Not saying there will ever be another Susan! She is unique - delightfully, charmingly, beautifully unique. But we can find out what our life can be with a pure heart. Believe me: "It's got to be something good! Amazingly good!"

Susan is fabulous. It's about time the entertainment industry started promoting REAL talent. People are looking for a change. They want something different. Their souls are crying out for the extraordinary not the ordinary. To make it in the entertainment industry today you must meet a certain image and financial criteria, talent is no longer a prerequisite. Today, you not only need money to pay your way in, you also must look a certain way, act a certain way, be a certain age and weight and imitate the actor and singers that make up the fad of the times. In essence, you must lose your entire identity and allow yourself to portray something that isn’t unique. Few entertainers today are individuals. What is filmed, written and recorded now will reflect our past, but what our children learn from it, will represent our future. Using the media as our message tool we, as a race of people, have the ability to make a difference for all the young and impressionable minds. They may call her an ugly duckling, but inside she is a swan! She is a swan is ugly duckling clothing! I know about being ugly when i was child and being judged for it! But Iam not ugly now! She made me feel dreams can come true and to go for them! I still listen to her sing! Go Susan you go and you win

Well what can i say - watching this lady was like a mirror image of myself . i think when 99% of people first saw ( and even after many viewing by same) Susan Boyle, they were just like this lady. I have to admit EVERY time i watch this i do cry. i've heard Susan's version of CRY ME A RIVER too, and that lady has one of the most fantastic voices . i WILL be buying any albums she makes and i hope they dont mess around with her appearance too much - I believe it was her firstly her UNDERDOG approach and the fact that that voice came from her heart that will make her one of the most popular singers to appear on the music scene. Well done Susan - if anyone bad mouths ( and these are basically VERY jealous and insecure people) you they will have millions to deal with them. GO SUSAN!!!!

Susan is wonderful; I admire not only her sheer gutsiness on stage, but the years and years in which she has trained her voice. All that practice when there was no immediate reward. Her voice is lovely even on her early "Cry Me A River" and "Killing Me Softly", but now she has a richness, range, and power that lifts her to the top level. I've been told that "I Dreamed A Dream" is very hard to sing because it switches from major to minor and back again, and requires absolutely perfect pitch. Susan brings me out in goosebumps every time I hear her sing. Sign me up to buy her first CD. Go, Susan! You're an inspiration for dedication, hard work, and courage.

I first caught a glimpse of Susan on the news, but did not really listen. No offence meant but I thought that her non singing behaviour on stage showed that she had some degree of intellectual impairment.BEFORE you all jump down my throat for saying that, let me point out I have a very much loved, mildly intelectually impaired sister and she would behave much the same way and act a bit of the fool(like Susan did before singing)my sister would also have done the victory dance at the end.I also heard that the judges and audience were harsh on her when she first came out on stage and to this day I still start the youtube clip from when she starts singing.I can not abide listening to people put others down, especially if the person being "picked" on has some minor problem. NOW on to Susans singing - from the first note out of her mouth she owned the judges, the audience and ME.I was stunned at the fact a woman of Susans age had such a clear, beautiful voice and had never been "discovered".She has certainly earned her place in the hearts of her millions of fans. She also deserves to have nothing but good things happen to her for th rest of her life.It no longer matters if she wins BGT,although I really would like to see her win, because Susan is already a winner. I originally thought(before she started singing)that her parents or siblings should have stepped in and stopped her being made a fool of,because that is what I would have done with my sister.Of course much as my sister loves to sing, she could not hold a note to save herself, lol.

I love everything about what has happened- that Susan could wow the world, could sing in the face of hundreds of cynical sceptics, including paid judges, who made judgments about her looks rather than waiting for her to sing which is what she was there for (how many participants are judged for looking just right rather than for their singing I wonder??)

For me, it was like seeing a rainbow. For much of my life I have struggled with crippling depression, but listening to Susan sing actually makes me feel better. There is nothing phony about Susan and I think that's why I just adore her as much as I do. The minute she began to sing, I could literally feel the blackness lift. Now I listen to her as much as I can. She has brought the sunshine back into my soul.

Thank you for being so brave as to go on television and share yourself with the world. It can't have been easy when you live alone with no one to encourage you in the middle of the night.

The world is, of course, the rest of us who can't sing but who simply love to listen to those who can.

Thank you again for your bravery and for letting us listen to you sing.

Dear Susan:

I tried to send you a message via YAHOO, but it was too clean, encouraging and moral, so they didn't post it. I hope that you receive this one.

Susan I have experience in Hollywood Show Biz. Everyone will find "something wrong and want to change it". I was too ethnic, too dark, too light, wrong name, too skinny, too fat, too much accent, but great to work on to CHANGE ME. I walked away after I was doing Co-Star Roles. My advice is: DON'T LET ANYONE CHANGE YOU. YOU WON THE HEARTS OF THE WORLD BY BEING WHOM YOU ARE! If you didn't make up, wear stylish clothes and be of the world Trends all of these years, DON'T DO IT NOW ! PLEASE THE BLESSED ETERNAL CREATOR GOD, WHO GAVE YOU THE BEAUTIFUL VOICE. STAY CLOSE TO GOD..STAY IN YOUR HOME CHURCH GROUP ...they will support you when the World turns you away.

Become the "White Mahalia Jackson", as the World needs a Witness in Song to SING PRAISES TO THE LORD. Please don't follow the Trends of the world just because so many people want a JOB...their job being to CHANGE YOU. You will never please everyone, so Please GOD and be True to Yourself. DON'T CHANGE A THING. YOUR JUDGE HOLDEN IS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. THE PEOPLE OF THIS WORLD FIND YOU REFRESHING...LIKE A NEW FRAGRANCE. DON'T CHANGE..THE WORLD IS FICKLE.

Why the exhibition of Susan Boyle is so moving? Why many people cries immediately after she begins to sing? It's an extraordinary phenomenon! Perhaps the emotion and the cry depends on the sensitiveness of listeners. May be that if you are not moved, you are not very sensitive? All this is a new extraordinary :incredible situation in the cinical world of shows: Long live Susan Boyle figure.

Susan Boyle is a natural beauty!!! She has a tiny nose, twinkly eyes, very thick hair, and a trim figure. She also has a lovely smile and her whole face lights up. And she sings like an angel!! In my opinion one excellent fashion choice would be to grow her hair out longer and wear it in a Gibson girl style. I also prefer it a softer color. She would look great in a Victorian-Edwardian style, or an Art Deco look. Thank you for being you and being brave enough to put yourself out there so I could selfishly and greedily keep playing your singing and having a splendid time enjoying it. Love, Mehitabel

I must admitt I was speachless. I have never heard a song sung as beautifully as that song. I cryed and could not stop. Susan is a GIFT from GOD. Her voice has been sent to us from the Heavens above and at a time when (we the people) need her so desperately. With all that is going on in today's world she is our Gift. I truly hope she will use her GOD given talent to help the world and it's abused children. What most of us don't understand is that GOD has already got her path maped out.And his ANGELS guarding her. This is not by chance but by Faith. And only her faith in herself and her relationship with GOD that made this possible. Our GOD is truly an awesome GOD. We need right now everythig she stands for. It's time for us to wake up. We put so mucn emphasis on beauty, things, places. Maybe this will help us to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And for those who do not believe in GOD or do not have a relationship with GOD will give them some kind of HOPE. I will continue to follow her story and her career. May GOD keep blessing you SUSAN BOYLE and may you find serenity in your Life's Journey. Be careful of those who want to use you for there will be many. Sincerely, Lesa Marie Your #1, FAN!!!!!

I agree with a number of people who say Susan is BIGGER than Britain's Got Talent. The only reason thousands of people learned that the show existed...is because they heard about Susan's voice...and watched the clips on You Tube. Susan will be around singing...long after people have forgotten about the show itself. Of that I am certain.

At first I felt silly being moved to tears by this performance but I see, I am not alone. Only a couple times before, have I been moved to tears by a performance of something so incredibly beautiful. This is such a good choice of lyrics, for her and all of us, at a time when so many are feeling crushed by the cruel world. It is good that it did not crush Susan. I would like to hear the range of that magical voice. But why do we all cry when we hear her sing? I guess this could help sales though if she records that song, because everyone will have to buy it to listen to it at home or in the car, because a shop owner or a resteraunter would not want to play it, because everyone would be moved to tears and be embarrassed and want to leave so no one sees them crying. No business owner would want to clear their place out like that. Or would we all suddenly accept crying in public? When we see people crying as they walk about on the city streets, we would think, oh he just heard Susan Boyle sing 'I Had A Dream' until it became socially accecptable to let tears pour in public?

I think the only poll we should answer is that we are waiting to see the first recording Susan makes and that we will buy it.

It's so good to read some of the comments of great advice, men crying, etc. I wonder if Susan is getting to read some. Also, the video of the viewer was cleaver. Looking forward to her next song on BGT. Jan, NJ

Some singers have perfect pitch. Some have beautiful voices. Some have powerful deliveries. Some have charming personalities. And some are technically impeccable. Rarely does a special person comes along with all these talents. But this delightful lady not only has them all, but she has that rarest of all gifts - she touches our hearts.

The current issue of The Week magazine devotes its "Talking Points" column to Susan. Following its normal format, the column includes both positive and negative comments from columnists in several major newspapers.

The cynics and skeptics are missing the point. Susan didn't just sing a powerful song that had a special meaning for her. She sang a song that had a special meaning for many of us, from a musical that had touched the hearts of millions of people all over the world.

Let's put Susan's performance and choice of music in the proper perspective. The musical Les Miserables was based on a concept developed by two Frenchmen. A Britisher took that concept and developed it into a musical. The musical opened in 1985 to mixed reviews. However, theatergoers trusted their hearts and ignored the critics. Word of the musical's beauty and power spread very quickly. The people, not the critics, turned Les Miserables into a phenomenal success, not only in Great Britain but also throughout the world.

This was brought home during the finale of the 10th anniversary concert performance at Royal Albert Hall in 1995. Singers from many different countries who had sung the role of Jean Valjean each sang a short excerpt in their native language. They represented 17 countries and 12 different languages.

I think that Les Miserables touched the hearts of millions of people throughout the world because it was about overcoming tyranny and evil leaders. Almost every nation has had to overcome tyranny at some point in its history, and almost every nation has its own Jean Valjean.

Susan's performance has touched millions of people because she sang a powerful song from a musical that millions of people have made their own. Had she sung another song, such as "Cry Me a River" or "Killing Me Softly," the effect would not have been the same.

I know I've watched the audition video at least a dozen times, maybe more. I cry EVERY time, but after the first few times, I also started praying for Susan Boyle. I pray each time that God will protect her from anyone in the entertainment industry that might exploit her. We've all heard the stories of people with talent getting used up and tossed over for the next one. Our Susan is an innocent, but she's also a hero! I too dreamed of being a singer someday, but I didn't have a parent to encourage me. In fact, I was told, "Don't be ridiculous!" Even at age 60, the dream has been rekindled by the single voice of Susan Boyle! I thank God for her!

It was a wonderfull moment to watch Susan's performance. I've seen the video so many times. She has had a special meaning to many people around the world: there are many awaiting for their dream to come true... and watching Susan's success has given hope that our dream might come true as well. The nice thing, is that we are so happy for Susan without not even knowing her. It was one of these beautiful moments were mankind shows in its kindest form!

I am just one year younger than Susan Boyle. She is, for me, like me and many women I know: We spend our youth taking care of other people, while we do not focus on pursuing our heart's desire. She is an inspiration. I cry every time I watch that audition. I am so happy for her and I am so grateful that I have heard her sing. She inspires me to persevere in pursuing my own dream, now that my child is an adult and I have the time to do so. I also celebrate the power and grace of middle age. Susan gives middle-aged women everywhere a boost of confidence and hope!

I am a confirmed Susan Boyle fan. I love her voice and I am very sorry that her celebrity is causing her so much stress. It is too bad that the press and people can't let her be. I think she looks great in her makeover, and firmly hold to the belief that she has the right to decide for herself the way she chooses to look. It is too bad that we can not let her live her life and enjoy her beautiful music...I hope we (as a collective) don't destroy this beautiful soul before she can reach her dreams and bring the world the joy she was destined to share with us...we need to let her have her space and try not to blatantly intrude upon her home and her privacy.

It was incredible! A voice straight from heaven, so pure, so crystal clear, so emotional! Susan you are great! We love you in the Netherlands!

I think Susan's brother Gerald is giving her some bad advice on how to dress. The real reason( other than her voice ) she's liked) is becuaes of her orginality, she ran away from the pack, now she's got an all too common look about her with the new wardrobe style, it's been done too many times before, part of her appeal is her true to form "Scottish" "look". She's moved away from that and the new look only emphaisis her disability even more.

She should go back to her own beautiful style.

The world fell in awe of Susan becasue she is genuine, innocent, ordinary, and amazingly talented. Please Susan, keep your endearing qualities.

My husband and myself have watched your audition on YouTube over a dozen times and we watched the ladies crying reaction tonight and that is exactly what we felt like and it takes an exceptional natural talent to be able to do that to so many people, Susan needs to keep on with her new career to cheer up a lot of people as when I feel a bit fed up I just listen to Susan again and I always relax and cheer up. She is absolutely marvellous, a female version of Harry Secombe, he was ugly, had a good sense of humour but he could really sing. I also think that Susan coul be a bit of a comedian as well as sing like she does with that unreal voice of hers, she has everybody stunned within the first four words of her singing. Susan is about the best singer I have ever heard. My husband agrees and so does my daughters and also my husbands sister. We live in Australia and my husbands sister lives in England. Keep singing Susan.

Once again I find myself in front of my computer watching Susan sing. I just can't get enough of her.I have viewed her on youtube so many times I think My coumputer is about to burn up from all the use!!! she has made me realize that any dream or goal I have is worth fighting for. She has giving me a renewed sence of selfworth and a positive reason to reach further then I ever have before. She has proven to the world that no matter what a person looks like or what they do or ever who they are as a person, we are all valuable! For this I thank Her.

There are so many quotable quotes on this thread. Oh dear, I must say that I love them!

I've written some of my feelings somewhere on this site, but for this one, I'd like to quote :

Thank you to the above writer (Pubpro) for the informative and full-of-wisdom message. And thank you to the rest of you whose beautiful expressions I do savour, along with the soothing effect that I experience each time I listen to Susan's "I Dreamed A Dream."

To the beautiful woman on the video, thank you so much.

I felt like I was mirroring myself - when the lake in my eyes didn't stand for very long but has overflowed freely.

Susan has become a global phenomenon with that unforgettable performance -- and people's tears were a great part of that phenomenon.

Thank you once again, Susan. I love you, along with your thousands of admirers.

Lots of love in our Lord Jesus, Elmie

Susan Boyle WAS the best kept secret in Scotland! HOW dis she manage to live her life thus far without somebody finding and promoting her to the stardom that she deserves? That, however, is what I find so endearing about her. She seems so down to earth and comfortable with herself. She might have lost that if she were famous as a younger woman. NOW IS HER TIME. NOW WE REALLY NEED HER. I have watched her videos many times and still find tears running down my cheeks. I love this woman. Her voice speaks to my soul. I can't wait for an album or concert! You go, girl! We loved you on BGT and I think your new look is MAHVELOUS. It still looks like YOU! Just spunkier than the old you!

If all of us who have been touched by Susan could each send her just one dollar, pound, yen, whatever, she would be able to put a CD out pretty quickly for us! She could do it from her OWN studio that she could buy with part of the money. WE OWE THIS WOMAN. How long has it been since anyone has had this much impact so quickly on so many? I can't remember it ever happening. HOW CAN WE HELP SUSAN LIVE HER DREAM AND SHARE IT WITH US???

Howdy to the lovely Lady in this here reaction video,

You have captured the reaction millions of us had to this wonderful performer named Susan. It was kinda brave of you to put it on video for all the world to see...but the strange thing is that all the world, having listened to Susan Boyle and reacted in the exact same way you did, feels the same joy that you do.

Susan's amazing performance touched our hearts in ways we still do not fully understand...but, one of the reasons that so many of us are here on this Susan Boyle fan's site is our need to share the magic of this moment with others. I wonder if Susan fully understands how much she has touched our hearts and lifted us up...this experience wasn't a dream, it was real...perhaps one of the most wonderful and amazing things we have ever experienced in our lifetimes.

And reports are coming in from all over the world about the tears of happiness and joy Susan Boyle has brought into our lives. I suspect God has had an awful lot to do with all this...this experience has got His fingerprints all over it!

Our hearts are filled with love for Susan...and that ain't gonna go away...nope...that love is in there real deep!

Thank you for sharing this wonderful reaction video to the voice of an Angel...we heard it way over here too.

Adios for now. Talk to ya on down the trail.

I loved Susan Boyle's presentation on BGT and fully believe she deserves the worldwide response to her talent. Late bloomers need recognition too! I adamantly hope that she is given an appropriate opportunity to continue to inspire us all with a music CD. Perhaps, to begin with a collection of Broadway songs focusing on continuing the themes of struggle, hope and dreams, etc. I would buy dozens and distribute to family and friends!!

Reaction? First dozen or so viewings - inexplicable tears. The next dozen or so - goosebumps. After that - a big fat grin each time! There's something almost mystical, spiritual, in the way this has evoked a common reaction from so many around the world. Proof that each of us is put here for a reason. We make our mark by touching one soul, changing one life before we depart. If Susan did nothing else from this day forward, she has already uplifted the hearts of millions in ways we all seem to be struggling to define. What's more beautiful than that?!?

I am one of the millions who heard you first sing this beautiful song. Susan you have given not only the United States, St. Louis, MO. but the world a time to listen to you over and over and over again. You are an Angel God has sent to all people, old, young, white, black, German, French, Spanish, all nations. SUSAN GOD BLESS YOU AND SUSAN STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF AND BELIEFS. I PLAY THE VIDEO EVERY MORNING WHEN I WAKE UP AND BEFORE I GO TO BED.

After pondering this question for some time, I conclude that part of my reaction - and a good part of Susan's appeal for me - comes from her confidence & sense of humor. When we first see Susan, she's backstage eating a sandwich. So what? - but most of us, shortly before going on national TV for the first time, would probably be doing a Jamie Pugh, not eating a sandwich. Then Ant & Dec ask her if she's nervous. "Yeah, sure, no?" and sort of braces her arms. Very endearing. Then the whole bit about living alone w/ cat, never married, never kissed - but before it has a chance to get pathetic, she turns it into a joke. When she walks on stage, all I could think of was Monty Python - the Pythons, TerryJones in particular, in drag doing their British Housewife bit. I thought this was going to be a comedy act, esp. after the hip grind. THEN she sang. It was amazing. When finished, she just turns and walks offstage!! Adorable, and genuine. Her reaction to the judges was sweet. But when Simon told her that he knew, from the minute she walked on stage, that they were going to hear something extraordinary - well, Monty Python was back!! "Oh, Simon!!! (squeaky laugh)" Her reaction to the judging itself was unbelievably moving. The Happy Dance was heartfelt - topped only by the way she composed herself, blew a kiss, and in the most dignified fashion, walked off stage. Watching her absorb it all back stage ("Oh my God! Oh my God!") was unbelievably moving again. Then, as someone wrote on-line, that youngest child of nine, teased and mocked, finally broke down & cried only when she was alone. It breaks my heart that she likely went to that audition alone.

Knowing what we now seem to know about Susan, she appears to be quite a cut-up. When she said that she was "47 - but that's just one side of me!" she wasn't kidding. There's the frowzy 47-year-old spinster; the Monty Python middle-aged woman; the amazing singing talent, overlooked for so long; the shy, retiring, dutiful daughter; and then, there's the Little Tiger, up for a laff with the Irn Bru guy. What a combo! Somewhere in there, we can all relate.

I've never seen anyone go from "totally unknown" to "household word" in approx. 48 hours. The first week was a free-for-all, with media roaming around her house, etc. Took her (and BGT) a week or so to get a handle on it. Then, it was media harrassment as she tried to resume life as she knew it, and came to grips with the fact that that's probably gone for good. Once she took Simon's advice and started to limit the media access, she seemed to adjust to the situation and to start to really enjoy it. Now, I think her confidence is coming to the front, with world-wide approval and endorsements from major stage big shots. I truly expect her to blow us away on Sunday, and to put the final nail in the BGT coffin next weekend. I never in a million years expected to enjoy something like this as much as I have - following Susan on a day-to-day basis, and the back 'n forth with the members on this site. What a wild ride!

Lovin'EveryMinute!, this was great reading. You are so astute. I'm glad that after 6 weeks of waiting, we're almost there. It has been a bit difficult to sustain my excitement, sometimes, but my love and admiration for Susan flows undiminished from the well that she tapped on 4/11. Today, I'm wavering between "How could anyone believe that she won't win?" and "There are too many technical shenanigans going on here, too many indirect influences for the real vote to get through. Bah! Humbug!" Misery lurks on my doorstep if the next hours don't pass quickly enough. I'm up, down, up, down. Gee whiz!
Posted by Lovin' Every Minute! on May 23, 2009
RubyRose - I can't believe someone actually read all that! You'd think I was getting paid by the word or something! It was getting late . . .

I really did think it was becoming a Monty Python sketch, but in a good (intentionally) funny way. Not unheard-of on these shows! Then again, some have said that i have a somewhat odd sense of humor (:D !! And proud of it!) My initial reaction was NOT that she was going to humiliate herself.

She's definitely going to Finals. Tomorrow, we can start handicapping the competition. I still think she's winning the whole thing. Some argue that she HAS to win to get a recording contract. I just don't see that. 200,000,00 YouTube hits looks pretty much like a sure thing to me!

I'm still just about jumping out of my skin, but in that "waiting for Christmas" anticipation/excitement kind of way. This whole thing has definitely brought out my inner 10-year-old in a big way. There may be more of a 'nerves' factor next weekend.
