Pebbles to Visit Susan
Posted by SBFII Admin on June 03, 2009

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Britain's Got Talent bosses are planning to surprise Susan whilst she is resting at the Priory clinic by reuniting her with her cat Pebbles.

pebbles2.jpg

We cannot believe everything we read in the newspapers but this is something we are sure all Susan's fans would love to be true.

On another note: We are also trying to set up a forum for the fansite, we understand that recent blog posts have had more than 1,000 comments and it is difficult for members to keep track of what is happening when they return.

This may cost quite a bit to set up and host plus more time would be needed to run it, a few members have offered to help moderate but we may add a donation button to help out.

If this is something you would like to happen then please let us know your thoughts, we would also like to add further features to the fansite in the future.

Thanks to everyone who has submitted their header designs so far, we will give it a few more days and then let members decide which one they like best.

I hope the good news is true. I could help out with a small donation. :)

Yes, Susan. You deserve some time and love from your cat! I hope they can make it happen!

I hope Susan does get to see Pebbles and feels better. I would definitely be interested in a forum and would donate to it. Thank you for all the hard work to keep this site going!

donation a great idea !
Posted by DocRobbie on June 03, 2009
Let's hope that Susan gets to see her beloved Pebbles very soon, whether it is at the Priory or in her home.

SBF, I would definitely support this site with a donation if it means we get improvements like a moderated forum.

Susan will be delighted to see Pebbles and Pebbles will be estactic to see her world famous mistress!

A forum is a good idea. pro boards are free...

someone could set it up and put a link here..

Oh that is so nice if Pebbles can be taken to her. I bet she is missing him! Animals are so therapeutic when someone is down. I support the idea of a forum.

I can see why Susan loves Pebbles and she loves Susan. i could give a donation too.

Pebbles would love a visit to London and to see Susan. Hope it happens. I would be willing to donate to support this site.

Forum an excellent idea and I will happily donate if improvements are made to include effective screening of all comments to eliminate those that don't comply with the ethos of the site.

Being an animal lover, I know that seeing Pebbles would be one of the best tonics for Susan at the moment. Also, I am willing to go along with the donation idea....and also am excited about the upcoming voting for a new header for the fansite. But am assuming we'll get instructions on how to do so. Awe, I hope this works out for Susan, I bet she would bounce back sooner too. as for the forum, I'm all for it. But I have no extra funds at this moment to help donate. I can help by being a moderator. Lets hope this works out for all of us.
Posted by Singing Soul on June 03, 2009
Pebbles loves Susan unconditionally and so it would be wonderful to re-unite them and may well just give her the boost she needs to get well again. As long as the journey is not traumatic for Pebbles, of course!!!

Sorry I can't donate - I don't have a credit card and the Rand is worth nothing in Europe... s o r r y!!!
Posted by RubyRose on June 03, 2009
Just let us know what we need to do. I'll be glad to help out.
Posted by Tacomafan on June 03, 2009
I think this would certainly make Susan feel better.I hope this happens for her.Pebbles, no doubt is missing Susan as well.
Posted by susaphile on June 03, 2009
I, for one, would be happy to give a donation to help with a forum, and I'm sure there are millions of others who'd feel the same way. Can anyone tell me if Susan is aware that we're attempting to let her know how we all feel? If not, is there some avenue available to her so that she is witness to all the activity concerning her? I feel that it's a matter of URGENCY that she know!
Posted by Patricia's Art on June 03, 2009
I hope its true. My cat always sits on my bed when I am sick. Cats are very smart and responsive. I am sure it would bring Susan much comfort to see her cat. But why can't Susan go home? Can't they just sneak her out and her family care for her at home. I bet she would love to be in her own house now. I hope they don't have her drugged up!Its hard not to worry about Susan. She was fine before competing in that show.

What a thoughtful thing to do....take Pebbles to be with Susan. Being a cat lover myself, that is what I would hope someone would do for me if I were in the same situation as is Susan. Let me know about the donation. I'm all for that, as long as I can get news of this dear lady's successes.

i saw this too- i am so excited, being a middle aged woman with a cat named Puddy-Tat, and also a former musical comedy singer myself- i could not bea to be three weeks away from Puddy either Susan Boyle will have daily visits from her pet cat as she continues to battle exhaustion in The Priory.

Britain’s Got Talent bosses are planning to surprise the fragile singer by reuniting her with beloved Pebbles.

The move came as sources said the runner-up had made a dramatic improvement and could leave the clinic shortly.

One show insider revealed: “She’s doing well and she’s going to be out soon.”

TV chiefs hope an emotional reunion with her feline friend will aid Susan’s recovery. Her anxiety at being apart from the cat for long periods of time is believed to have contributed to her breakdown.

Shortly before she was admitted to the North London clinic, Susan was distressed and mumbling about her pet.

A fellow contestant’s mother claimed Susan even borrowed a mobile phone so she could call home and speak to Pebbles.

Irene Carter, 61, mum of Emma, one of the members of the dance troupe Sugar Free, said: “She came up to my daughter and asked to borrow her mobile phone.

“She left this really bizarre message which went on for several minutes. When she got off the phone she said she had been talking to her cat back at home.”

But aides are now planning to put a smile back on Susan’s face.

One said: “There is a plan afoot to reunite Susan with her cat.

“It hasn’t been finalised yet and the preferred option is bringing Pebbles down to see Susan. If doctors don’t allow it, then Susan could be flown up to Scotland for a brief rendezvous.”

It is likely Pebbles would be allowed into The Priory if she was transported from Scotland as there is no set policy on pets.

Doctors would approve the visit if they thought it would help Susan’s mental state.

Meanwhile Susan, who has learning difficulties and was taken to the psychiatric hospital on Sunday, was in buoyant spirits yesterday.

Sources said Simon Cowell’s telephone conversation with the 48-year-old on Tuesday had given her an enormous boost.

The BGT boss has reassured her an album deal will still go ahead.

The insider explained: “It was exactly the tonic that Susan needed. She immediately started jotting down ideas for songs to go on the album and even started to practise singing them.

“She’s gone from an extreme low to an extreme high now she’s realised this hasn’t scuppered her one shot at success. Knowing that Simon is so concerned about her welfare makes her feel much better.”

But the decision on when Susan, dubbed the Hairy Angel, will be allowed to leave is in the hands of medical specialists. A source said: “The doctors will decide if Susan is well enough to tour and when she is ready to leave.”

simon's call was a couple days to late, but he did it anyway- she is now practising for her album-- that is also great news....i listened to "cry me a river" again last night, and she sings better than Judy Garland on that one....she is sensitive like Miss Garland as well...I love you guys who love Susan as much as I doTeri

when i moved to usa from europa in 2000 i took my cat 10 years at that time with me. my first few months were not easy if you change your life completely, so i was so glad to have her in that difficult time.

she died last year. of course i have another cat now, see in the picture, i just want to say that i can understand how susan feels about her cat pebbles. if pebbles is healthy and not to old, traveling should be ok..but may it is better to reunite them at home.

let us know paul what we can do to help out for this beautiful fan club

WOO HOO!!! I hope this is true that she gets to see Pebbles. As for the forum idea that a woo hoo also. I will definitely donate to the forum setup. I'm like everyone on here. Susan has had a profound effect on me. I've never been a member of a fansite, but I had to be a part of this one. Thank you
Posted by Patricia's Art on June 03, 2009
Also you can tell from the pictures she lost alot of weight over those 7 weeks to. I think losing weight too fast can weaken a person too. She sounds like she is completely depleted of her strength between not eating and sleeping and the demands of the performance. At her age it may take a month to bounce back. She was probably dehydrated too.Remember the pictures when her lips were chapped.
Posted by MrIscan on June 03, 2009
Hi Noelle...many thanx for the info by the way.By the way I presume you all know that the Priory is not a mental clinic. It's where the rich and famous go when they have issues.See..Susan really is up there with the rest of em

Dear Board Moderators- I think if you can figure out how to set up a PAYPal account to send donations to make this site better, many would contribute. It is a safe way to do so, knowing how much I have bought on sites like EBAY and stuff....i would contribute a small amount-go to Dame Elizabeth on Twitter- she loves Susan ( yes, Ms Elizabeth Taylor) she no doubt would help out a lot. God Knows Dame Elizabeth has had her share of ups and lot of downs as well Teri, Redondo Beach, ca

Absolutely count on a donation from me.

Having Pebbles with hr will speed her recovery 10 X10 x10 fold. I know whenever I was sick (also suffered a breakdown from work related stress and anxiety) and sometimes hospitalized from surgery all I wanted was my boy Casey (toy poodle), and when I would come home he wouldn't leave my lap for a minute and gave me mega love because he wanted to take care of Mommmy. That love is priceless and the best therapy for whatever health issue.

The forum is a great idea,---------and also great idea: a way to donate toward the upkeep of this site. We certainly wouldn't want anyone to be financially strapped for our sake when this is something we have come to depend on and that we appreciate SO much! Just tell us how and when---and we'll be happy to help out. Thanks for the idea, actually,---as it makes me feel much more a part of the effort/ part of this team! Thanks for this opportunity!

Please add a donation button. We don't know how to help with the costs but I know we all would help as much as we could. Bless your heart SusanBoyleFan!!!

Pebbles rocks too!

week leading up... sorry, not weeks. I'm not surprised. I wonder what the true story is there?
Posted by Peetie on June 03, 2009
I will be happy to donate. Just ask and you've got it. Anything to let Susan know how many people are wishing her well. I'm so glad Pebbles may be making a visit to his favorite person in the whole wide word.
Posted by terijay on June 03, 2009
Umm- i don't think Piers Morgan owns BGT, letsletter- it is Simon Cowell's show and owned by Thames something or other and ITV. in the UK- Piers is merely an employee like Paula Abdul here in the USA on American Idol
Posted by MrIscan on June 03, 2009
Do agree with Juliad that it would be nice to find out that Susan and her family are aware of the tremendous ammount of support being offered here

Wasn't there a petition on this site to reunite Susan and Pebbles? Good for the person(s) who did it.

I second the idea of a Paypal account to contribute to. It's easy and safe!
Posted by Bohemian Spirit on June 03, 2009
Wow, that would be awesome, to bring Pebbles to Susan; I hope it's true! The "therapeutic" value of a beloved pet is widely attested. Anything that helps Susan return to a sense of normal life after the craziness of the past two months has got to help. I would imagine part of the course at the clinic is to guide her towards managing her new life in a balanced way, instead of the burnout pace of the BGT competition. I think that building her career in "baby steps," at her own pace, will be much more manageable for Susan, as indeed it would be for any of us.

As I've said before, the fact that she gave such a powerful and professional performance under extreme exhaustion is a testimony to how strong she really is. "Fragile star," my a**. Resilient, is what she is, to have gotten through all of that!

A discussion board is also great news. ;-) I believe there are free board sites, but the traffic we have here probably exceeds their bandwidth limits, so if we have to pay, add me to the list of people who can make a small contribution. With the sheer numbers on this site, a little bit per person would add up quickly! A PayPal link would be easy and handy, as well as secure.

Great news about Pebbles, and about Simon and Susan thinking of her bright future again. I hate The Mirror and we ought to demand that they drop the name-calling, like Hairy Angel, it does NOT apply to Susan at all and is extremely insulting. Simon needs to use his influence.

I would be willing to help with a forum. Is anyone familiar with Soapblox? It is only $15.00 a month and allows for members to post their own threads, eg, all those wonderful comments that got lost here, would stand alone, and then others could comment on the 'news'.

People can write their own articles also and you can use simple HTML commands to format comments, such as blockquoting anything that needs to be highlighted. It also facilitates hyper-links instead of just URLs and makes it easy for members to direct people to a site of interest.

It is a community oriented type blog and can be moderated easily. You can put up your own banners etc and take google ads. Also members can volunteer to post daily news threads, or just open threads etc. I really like the format and it's cheap and functions really well.

It would make this site very attractive to members imo and make it so much easier to communicate as it allows you to 'reply' to those you want to reply to, to check who is commenting to you so you can go back and respond and they will see your response.

The mechanics of setting it up the way you want, are simple even for non-tech people and it is very, very cheap to run.

I have been a moderator on a very big site and would be willing to help with that. Just a suggestion.

i have made a Susan Boyle handbag with printed out pics- so i am artisically involved as well- I do decoupage and she is an ideal for that medium-- my idea is not to sell the stuff- i just enjoy having susan as a medium as I have done with many such as Elizabeth Taylor, the Beatles, and such other beloved people Teri
Posted by sabrina6850 on June 03, 2009
Oh yes, and videos and pictures are easy to post both in the Opening Posts and in the comments. I really like Soapblox for a community, participatory site.

You can follow the work of those you really find interesting, and ignore anything you're not interested in. Eg, TommyUSA's work would fit beautifully and would be so easy to find and follow and interact with.

I know there are probably better formats, but for a community oriented blog, in my experience, this is something to consider.

Count me in on the donation....let us know whether paypal or a donation button......the very first day I was asking if Pebbles was with Susan.....so if the doc's are on top of things....Pebbles should be arriving soon.....sounds like Simon's call really helped....isn't it amazing she was so over-protected that she didn't even know the whole world loves her so ..... not happy that they secluded her like they did! Not happy with that at all!!!

Please guys and dolls, remember that Paul brought us all together? I think Simon Cowell should contact him and give him funds to launch a http susanboyle dot com site. Susan has become to big for an "uppersite" like this. Just a private server and a domainname and we can do a lot more then on this site where you are even supposed to get a date with an Asian. No disrespect to Asian women, but I think http susanboyle should be financed and controled by Paul who did a wonderful job.

I'd be willing to make a donation to a forum, however, I've never paid for anything over the internet, and have no plans to start. The Corn Flicker Virus that affected millions of computers world wide is a reason for that. No matter how safe one feels on the internet there's always someone looking for ways to cash in. A forum is a great idea, and as well could include a chat. I've belonged to two forums, one is the Anne of Green Gables forum, which has been hacked from time to time causing it to go down, so the level of security and monitoring of people signing on as well spammers would be an issue. The other forum I belong to is Avonlea Kindreds, which is relatively new, as it's parent Avonlea Treasures was sadly closed down. But life goes on. If a forum were to go through, or donations are being asked for I simply ask that you also take into consideration that not everyone is comfortable sending funds over the internet, so an alternative could be sending it to a P.O. Box where money orders can be sent.
Posted by sabrina6850 on June 03, 2009
Terrijay, how wonderful. And on the site I'm thinking of you could post your pictures in your own thread or post direct, clickable links to where they can be found. I would love to see your work.

Retired in Kalifornia, I will check out your work. Now, if we were on a Soapblox blog, you could have posted a direct link to your sites and people would be more likely to click them.

Please everyone, before setting up a new forum, think about linking and formatting (html is the simplist) as it will make this blog so easy to negotiate and attract so many more readers and writers.

Following URLs that are not directly linked involves too many steps, especially for people still on dial-up (and yes, I know that's the dark ages, but some people really are still on dial-up).

Yay for Pebbles! Lol, I LOVE that name, and he looks so cut and cuddly. I wonder how many new kittens will be called Pebbles in the future? He is probably the most famous cat in the world. I hope he is protected from the nasty media better than Susan was.

i agree with reinder about the bad ads on the site. This site does need help, its funny how quickly how it has gone out of date. The header is awful. Sorry, but it's not very kind to Susan. she has a great appearance (cover). I didn't like that dress for the final though. I think they wanted her to look fat. I liked the yellow first one much beter. Maybe thats whyy susan flashed us her thigh. Because the dress was so long and shapeless
Posted by Retired In Flat Broke Kalifornia on June 03, 2009
@Reinder1965, no issue on what you suggest but there is "the meantime" to consider. Sedo.com own's Susan K. Boyle's susanboyle.com and they want U.S. $25,000: http://www.sedo.com/search/details.php4?tracked=&partnerid=13815&language=us&domain=susanboyle.com so if Cowell's people want to buy they should do so NOW! Susan-Boyle.com already is so well known as "her family's" fan website Cowells people buying susanboyle.com would HAVE to point to susan-boyle.com.

Frankly, I wouldn't go to any other website that Susan herself or her family has something to do about running it, extraordinarily rare I think for "new" talent like she - all just my thoughts of course.

Posted by Bohemian Spirit on June 03, 2009
@jodys - Actually, I liked the dress she wore at the final. I thought it was very simple and elegant, a very classic look for a "classic"/"broadway" style singer. That's one reason I picked a screencap from the final performance as the photo on my proposed banners: I thought Susan looked beautiful, and triumphant, when she was singing that song. Looked quite nervous and worn out at other moments in the show, but when she sang, she was on top!

tell me if it is true that Piers owns BGT..
Posted by Retired In Flat Broke Kalifornia on June 03, 2009
@sabrina6850; Thanks for the comment.

Between June 19, 1997 and June 19, 2000 I maintained my own arts website so know the issues of site maintenance even though it just got a measily 32,000 clicks during its run. The JPEGs I've got up are all I've got up so OK to "pass around." I have the first two on openclipart.org (keyword Susan Boyle) but got "stomped" by the Administrator for posting as this is a SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format arts submissions website so he'll take them down soon also.
Posted by purplegothicqueen on June 03, 2009
I actually liked her dress in the final jodys. Nothing wrong with wearing a long flowing dress, she looked cool and comfortable in it. I did like her audition dress, I like ribbons, but I liked the dress she wore in the final better. I do hope the stories about her being reunited with her cat is correct though because that is bound to speed her recovery along.
Posted by sabrina6850 on June 03, 2009
Fire Djinn, it is very hard to spam a site like the Soapblox blogs as moderators can immediately remove and block all spam. I've never seen much spam on any of them so far.

Wrt to your concerns about paying over the Internet, you can always use snail mail and buy a money order so your personal info is not going out all over the place. Paypal works great for most people and is easy to instlall on a site. Most businesses have a Paypal account button on their sites.

Off topic, I know, but I hope when Susan flies across the Atlantic that she'll be in First Class; I've traveled between the US and Europe several times, and coach is no fun on a trip that long. Also, I hope she remembers a really good face moisturizer! Last year I flew to Paris, and I looked like something mummified several hours into the flight. As we women get a little older, it's harder to stay humdified, LOL.

Pebbles is about 10 years old, at least I think that's the age I remember. Susan's mother died about 2 years ago. So not only is Pebbles Susan's long-standing pet companion, Pebbles links Susan back to her mother and was there for Susan each and every hour after her Mother's death. So Pebbles has IMMENSE IMPORTANCE for Susan, especially now when she is healing from complete exhaustion. I'm surprised that Pebbles wasn't brought in the next day!!!

isn't it amazing she was so over-protected that she didn't even know the whole world loves her so ..... not happy that they secluded her like they did! Not happy with that at all!!! Thanks for posting this: that is beyond comprehension that Miss boyle had no clue- on Piers Morgans site, there are at least a thousand posts from everywhere from Russia, Latvia, France, USA, Phillipines, Finland, Holland- you name it....I thought he was in her corner, but now I think maybe Prince Harry was right- Piers Morgan is what they call in the UK, "a Prat"

@sabrina6850 again, re. Following URLs that are not directly linked involves too many steps, especially for people still on dial-up (and yes, I know that's the dark ages, but some people really are still on dial-up); TOTALLY agree, am on glacially slow dial-up and "the need for speed" is absolute for me! Feel free to contact me at my personal Email included with my registration if you want to discuss further. Needless to say, I won't post it here as I get enough spam coming in as it is. Maybe it's time to consider an official fan club and have the site as part of it.

BGT is essentially 'owned' by Simon Cowell through his SyCo TV company. I think the MSNBC comment 'under lock and key' is more a figure of speech. You can't lock somebody up against their will in the UK - that would be false imprisonment which is illegal.

Well, well so Simon Cowell is still doing damage control that he and the other judges and bosses helped to create.I have been reading and searching the net for more stories about the final and have found out along many others that they made her change her song choice at the last moment, Susan had practiced Whistle Down to perform that night. Know wonder she had that angry look thoughout her performance and said the Hell with everything and why she wouldn't answer the interviewers questions instead went to thanking her audience and fans for their support. Simon Cowell and his group should be ashamed and did you know that his American Idol is also in trouble as well.

@sbfanusa; Good post! As I see it Susan-Boyle.com IS her fan club, domain went active April 12th and remains the only "genuine" club site on the web - Kudos to Susan's extended family for that! Again, I think it important THIS site remain "All In The Family" long as possible - or whatever Susan herself would wish, anything SHE wants goes with me!

@NancyEileen re. Nice about getting to see Pebbles, rest of the story just cobbled together every shock soundbite they've been rehashing, even the hairy one. but the improvements to the fan site are needed desperately and should proceed as soon as possible.

LucyB that is a very good point about Pebbles being a real connection so Susan's mom.

I lost my mom a few years ago and had two wild kittens we took in while she was staying with us. They were even more precious to me for the reason you stated, after she died. So, it is very important for her to have Pebbles nearby for so many reasons.

I love how she wears her mom's wedding ring around her neck. And in the final, in the last still shot of her it looked like she was looking down at her mom's ring. Not sure if she was wearing it, but the chain was the same one she wears it on. She must really miss her mom now. She said she believes her mom is in heaven and can see her.

@ sabrina6850

“Following URLs that are not directly linked involves too many steps, especially for people still on dial-up (and yes, I know that's the dark ages, but some people really are still on dial-up).”

Now hang on, hang on, yes it is the Dark Ages, but someone’s got to live in it! I’m out in the bush with a computer that’s held together with a bit of string, wire and prayer and while I just love this site (thanks heaps to Paul) it’s geared to presentation of visual media that I can’t even contemplate downloading. Just the same, I revel in everyone’s enthusiasm here and read bits of the text, but even downloading a page with well over 1.000 comments on it is a bit over the top at a speed of 31.2 Kbps. Yes folks, some of us out in the boonies compute ... sedately.

In other words, if it’s possible to set up a regular forum along the lines described by Sabrina .... way to go! It’ll be fantastic to be able to bookmark pages for picking up where one has left off reading and break subjects down into discreet and manageable topics rather than having a cacophony of posts zooming so fast that they are bewildering for a recently joined member. It might be much easier for those who have been on the site for a while to follow.

The idea of fostering more of a sense of community appeals also.

Re Pebbles: She is a little heart breaker – one of the prettiest little cats I’ve ever seen, with green eyes, fluffiest white fur, gorgeous little face and really, it’s no wonder Susan was freaking out over her well being, in addition to the little cat being her life companion for now. I’d be doing the same thing. For those who take their responsibilities seriously, pets are like children and the spiritual bonds can be extremely strong.

PO box for donations also, please. Thanks Paul and all who run the site.

@NancyEileen; Love Spain even though I'll likely never go there. My Dad's parents BTW immigrated to the U.S.A. from Azores (Portugal) little over 100 years ago, Dad speaks "old country" Portuguese, alas none of his children learned how to.
Posted by Allikat on June 03, 2009
Here's hoping the Pebbles story is entirely true! Not that a bunch of us didn't already post about it on the last blog already.

Please count me in as one willing to contribute some money for a forum, and more easily run site in general, here. The thing is HUGE, and needs moderation. Several people are needed, for that. And, surely there would be numbers and dates appearing on the forum posts, right?

If we are going to have a chat box, we MUST be able to keep guests from even appearing in it. And we need to be able to let a moderator know when a 'troll' appears via a comment somewhere, so that the member can be removed ASAP. There ought to be a list of 'rules' to follow, simple ones, nothing to exclude people but just to make sure negative, hateful remarks are kept off the site.

Is this fan site ever going to somehow become 'official'? I guess it would have to be vetted by someone on Susan's behalf, unless we can ever get her to at least view it. Not that I would wish to cause her any extra stress right now--just mentioning it, that's all.

I'm probably naturally suspicious of the tabloids these days. But, cats I know about. I have never met a cat that was people-oriented first and place-oriented second. That's a dog; they'll go anywhere. But, cats are different. If I were Pebbles, I would hide the minute I saw Simon, I would throw up in the van, I would be very upset that I didn't know my litter box was close, and, when they put me on the bed in Susan's room, I would probably run and hide hide until everyone disappeared. Cats are place-oriented first. Very view adjust to "visiting" another place, especially after living in the same home for 10 years. Sorry, I don't buy it. And, if they really tried it, imagine how Susan would feel if Pebbles acted like any any normal cat would. The ultimate abandonment issue could be Pebbles hiding from Susan. I'm was hoping she'll be home in a few days but maybe she hasn't discovered she's in charge of herself yet. She's in the best place to learn that - if Simon would stay out of it. Sorry I'm a bit dissapointed in BGT.

@Retired In Kalifornia: I think that is just a tip for Simon and he knows that. Susan Boyle was way too big for BGT. Susan Boyle made BGT after her audition, not vise versa in any way. Amanda Holden now celebrating her new stardom in the USA should grovel for Susan Boyle and thank her over over over and over again, instead of putting her vote on Stavros Flatley. What an ungreatful woman. She has only becoming bigger than she actually was thanks to Susan Boyle. Piers Morgan defends her more, but he too should feel ashamed of what he did when he said that Shaheen was the best performance in the semifinals. He also has a core of not having gratitude enough. AGT will be more watched thanks to Susan Boyle and no thanks to Piers Morgan. The only one of the judges who I really like now is Simon.
Posted by Retired In Flat Broke Kalifornia on June 03, 2009

On a forum there could be private messaging, which would aid in contacting forum mods to notify of trollism on board and also enable members to communicate privately or even take their differences out of view of everyone else online in the forum.

There could be topics categorized, making it easier to navigate to the discussion of choice or locate a post we're interested in, guidelines and tips for making it easier to navigate the forum, topics dealing with taking care of Susan's interests with the media badness, etc.

Just to name a few advantages.

Times and dates of posts would be available, membership alphabetized, making it easier to locate members. Posts from each member could be listed with hyperlinks in their profiles for easier access. An ability to EDIT our posts due to typos we wish to correct.

I read that Simon has a management team in place for Susan when she is ready. I believe she said she wanted to take part in the tour, planning on recording in Prague, as well maybe going to USA for July 4th on the invitation from the Pres. Sounds like Susan needn't worry about people wanting to hear singing. Let's hope that this time she will be protected properly.
Posted by sabrina6850 on June 03, 2009
Lol, Bibi, I remember, that's why I mentioned it. I am on a much faster laptop now, but I remember how mad I used to be trying to download comment threads and videos over 200 long. I promised myself I would not forget the dial-uppers after I moved to a faster computer and 'I kept my promise, don't keep your distance' ~ oops, sorry about launching into song there. But I'd love to hear Susan sing that, 'Don't Cry For me Argentina'.

Anyhow, the format I'm talking about allows everyone to be a writer themselves with the option for others to comment on their writing. Iow, it makes the blog very interesting. And no trouble picking up where you left off as your personal page always records responses to your 'diaries' or comments.

Retired in Kalifornia, thanks, I am so used to hyper links that I feel like I went back in time trying to follow the URLs here. I know everyone will love being able to just click a link and go directly to a site with just a few paragraphs posted to let you know if you're interested or not.

Nancy Eileen, anyone can easily show you how to post a pic or a video if the site is formatted to allow those functions. I used to think people who could do it were geniuses and was in awe of them. But very kind people showed me how and it was so easy. I only know html formatting, so can easily help you with that if the forum supports it. Don't worry.

Btw, Bibi, I think every loyal Susan fan ought to have a decent computer. Who knows, maybe once the site is settled people can donate computers, which btw, are getting cheaper and cheaper. The tiny laptops, eg, are only around $300.00 and you can even get one with a contract with a phone co., for about $50.00 now.

Meantime, hold your old dinosaur together with string if you have to and keep posting. One day, btw, it might be worth something!

I've used YUKU as a forum member only. I have no idea how much time it would take to moderate/administer a YUKU forum. They say that they'll let a number of folks moderate. YUKU's computers are in San Francisco. As a user, I've found a YUKU forum to be user-friendly, fast, and reliable. Money will not be a problem with YUKU; time may be.

I've never had a cat, but I hear they are very attached to their usual environment. I hope Pebbles doesn't freak out. It would be wonderful for them to be reunited, though.

I will contribute to support this site. It's the only one I go to for news about Susan.

I hope she does not accept an invitation to sing for the President of US before re-establishing her base in UK. I suspect there is more support for her there than she thinks. It will be best in the long run if she confronts that situation first, and gets past the misperceptions. But more important she really needs a long rest and time to evaluate what has happened and who she can trust. They ought to fly in Fred O'Neil too.

I don't trust Piers or Amanda. They have no class. They should both have the decency to decline comments. Susan is exhausted, not mentally ill. Pebbles probably understood more of what she said on the phone than the bystander. But why is there no one around to hear her out, offer support other than fatuous invitations to romantic dinners?

“Btw, Bibi, I think every loyal Susan fan ought to have a decent computer. Who knows, maybe once the site is settled people can donate computers, which btw, are getting cheaper and cheaper”.

Oh yes, computers for the poor! A hand cranked or solar powered one would have to be an improvement on this little box of horrors. Well, am exaggerating just a tad, but it’s nice to know that someone spares a thought for those of us who must keep our quills sharpened in the scriptoria of bm (before microsoft) because our machines are hanging on by a fraying thread.

Seriously Sabrina, liquidity should be improving in a few months time and I’ll be able to buy the spare parts to knock up a new machine in the shed that’ll go like greased lightning! ........ on the internet Highway to Hell (just to follow up your Peron warblings with a bit of Meatloaf, lol )

Btw, on Susan’s finals night she didn’t have the same gold chain and mother’s wedding ring about her neck. It was a little sad to see that – possibly as a result of advice – because it’s like a talisman for her, but more than that, a beautiful sign of remembrance and strong love for the woman who nurtured and encouraged her all the way. I hope she goes back to wearing it (sorry if this question has already been answered)

@Retired in Kalifornia, Off topic....I fly alot with Malev and have had some wonderful experiences with them. I have been able to sit in the cockpit and half fly the plane in spite of the aftermath of 9/11 and bring cats from Russia to Hungary for professional aircrew. I like the Malev professional staff as they do not get stressed out about security like which happens with BA or other airlines. If thery know a professional traveller, they look after you and that includes importing cats :)

I LOVE listening to Susan and reading about how much people care about her!! That is SO neat that she will be seeing her cat Pebbles....I hope the cat does well with that experience. I want to hear more of Susan's singing and I hope that her career goes off the charts!! I pray that she finds her strength and goes for her dream!!
Posted by Lonnirose on June 03, 2009
So happy to hear that Susan will see Pebbles soon - good therapy for sure. Just think, it's only been the two of them there for years - of course they miss each other. As to a donation, I'm not rich but I'll be happy to donate something. Susan's brother is the one who told about the White House invitation - why would he make that up? Don't believe what you read on access Hollywood!
Posted by TXNoelle on June 03, 2009
BIBI, I think I recall someone mentioning on the previous blog comments that Susan was wearing her mother's ring. Perhaps on her hand?
Posted by Retired In Flat Broke Kalifornia on June 03, 2009
@JRH2063; OH how envious am I; last time I was on an airliner that the pilot opened the door to the cabin was on the tarmac in Nashville, TN (opening the door in flight by was a no-no generally by then...) on July 2, 1999; sooner rather than later - and sooner - the U.S. FAA will force all airliners - private or public - to forbid passengers being anywhere near the cockpit. Enjoy that privelage long as you can!
Posted by Lonnirose on June 03, 2009
I don't know why Simon hasn't given her a laptop. They're not hard to use, and I bet Susan would love seeing how many people love her and are waiting for her music. Oh, meant to say, my heart soared when I heard she was practicing her singing. Oh joy, our girl's going to be all right.
Posted by PIGGIE on June 03, 2009
I would think donations would be very easy to come by. Sure, I'd donate, but compared to what would be required to run this site in the way it should be run for a superstar like Susan would take more than our contributions - need to pay salaries for tech support and all, it's not just site hosting. I'm sure Simon and Piers would cough up some money, as well as Demi Moore and Ashton, I'll bet.
Posted by JRH2063 on June 03, 2009
@Retired in Kalifornia, off topic - that was 10 years ago, of course now no one should be allowed in the cockpit other than the professionals who are flying the plane
Posted by Greenockguy on June 03, 2009
As a flight attendant I would be suprised if Susan is not in First Class...She can fly non stop from Edinburgh to he USA..Less press and an easier airport to get around. She will look great once she steps on US soil.moisturizer or not... We all just want to see her here so we can celebrate. I sure hope the July 4th invitation is true

@sabrina6850...You posted this in the previous blog from which we've all fled, and I would like to comment:

"I really do believe, and maybe it's naive, that Simon feels a great responsibility to Susan and that as much as he is capable of it, has come to love her. Don't know why I think that, not 'in love' but 'love', but I do.

"Now, they will have to get past him before they attack her and I feel better about that. Imo, of the three judges, Simon is the one who cares about Susan the most. Yes, I know he cares about the money, but something about the way he looks at her, he has a lot of good in him, paying for the mortgage of a couple with a sick child eg, and he doesn't need the publicity the way Amanda and Piers do. So, call me naive, but I think she has a friend in Simon. Her magic, which worked on so many millions of others, seems to me, has worked a little on Simon's hardened heart and melted it a little."

This is very interesting, Sabrina, and it is what I have been thinking (even praying about), too. In fact, I have been considering for the past day or two an old film that my husband and I happened to see a month or so ago, entitled "SABRINA" and starring Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart and William Holden. Sabrina (Audrey) was the young daughter of the live-in chauffeur who worked for a super-rich New York industrialist and his two sons. She had always loved the younger son (William), an oft-married friendly playboy, and secretly watched the fabulous family parties, wishing she could attend. After returning from cooking school in Paris, Sabrina was of course beautiful and both sons courted her (although the younger son was engaged). In the end, the older son (Humphrey), an all-business workaholic bachelor, won the girl who melted his heart.

Just sayin...

@ TXNoelle. Ah, thanks noelle. I'm not up with much of the previous comment and she could well have been wearing it on her hand. It's become a kind of trademark for Susan and one of the reasons why people love her so much I think, for her uncomplicated expression of values that haven't been considered 'cool' to air in the popular media.

I would love to see a forum on this site. My son runs several websites & he sets up numerous safe-guards on his forums. And talk about strict rules....he wasn't raised with as many strict rules as he has on his forums!! Like he says, he wants his members to feel at home & safe.

@ Brooklyn .... good comparison to Sabrina - the movie. ! Indeed that's how i saw Simon react to Susan and her well being.

I kept saying this but it keeps getting lost amongst so many posts... Simon took an endearment to Susan not only because of her voice and the money along with it, it's because she's not a Diva. like so many singers he had to mentor and the whole industry for that matter. i kept hearing and reading susan doesn't care about the money or fame, she just wants to be a professional singer. nothing more. if she could use her golden voice for commercials so be it. just as long as she can sing for the people. and simon saw that in her. She's so innocent in her own special way.

Hey Reindeer- agree with you 1000% about Amanda what is her name- cannot stand the -tramp. She was a complete NOBODY until she happened to be a judge on BGT when Miss Boyles auditon aired millions of times on YuTube and on television all over the world- so, this blonde no talent bimbo is in the states, trying to make $ an our Susan, who has more talent in her little TOE, is in a mental hospital??? SICK and sicker. I cannot stand Amanda...Piers? Not sure. I sort of think he started off trying at first, to "use" Miss Boyle with his oily charm, to ride on her coattails for awhile- however, I do feel that at the end- meaning the last maybe 2 weeks, Piers is VERY taken with Susan in a way I do not think he even knows. Maybe not in a romantic sense, but he is taken with her, in quite many ways, as studied by not only his words but his body language when he speaks f her Of course he praised the 12 yr old- at that time when he did so, it was a foregone conclusion that Miss Boyle would win by a landslide....he was attemping to make it more interesting...perhaps Miss Boyle (crap, or cousrse) she went nuts when she heard this from her "crush". I really think from that DAY, it went downhill for Miss boyle....She lost it that night, allegedly swearing at the tv, and I believe that. He had told her she looked "beautiful" the night before, remember? And now, he is "picking up the pieces"- what do you guys think of Piers re: his relationship with Miss Boyle?

Kitty therapy sounds like just the thing!!!

I think Susan needs to have her OWN WEBSITE with her schedule, contact info for engagements, and to start selling her music, like many musicians have.

It would seem some of the members are using the "Comments" to chat with each other about off-topic things, generating multiple posts. This comments section is supposed to be about BGT bringing Pebbles to see Susan, with the owner's request for opinions about starting a forum.

I, too, am in the camp of believers who think Simon Cowell "adores" Susan. I think he understands and empathizes with her emotional sensitivity as well, given he has gone through similar experiences. This is quote from Simon in an article from just a few weeks ago:

"If I went to a psychiatrist, it would be a long session. I've always thought that I do have a number of issues that probably need dealing with, because I am quite odd in some ways. I get very dark moods for no reason. Nothing in particular brings it on. You can be having the best time of your life and yet you're utterly and totally miserable. I get very anti-social, depressed and irritable with people. I don't have time for them. I can't make phone calls and stuff. I just sit on my own for days. I'm not sitting in a darkened room rocking. Things might have gone really well and then I torture myself. I cannot believe it. I have to find something to make me miserable. I get to points in my life where I sometimes think I'm never going to be happy. Someone said to me recently, 'You're like a human buffet table. Everyone comes and takes something from you and, at the end there's nothing left.' "

Huzzah for Pebbles ! Nothing so healing as a soft, furry four footer. I bet ole Pebbles is up to the challenge of travel. Look at his mistress, and Pebbles influenced by her family. Is Pebbles a She? Pebbles probably must be the one to leave home, as home, I imagine, would turn into a zoo with the press if Susan returns there -- unless the locals figure out a way to bar access to the town. Anyone ever see Wicker Man??

Good news about a forum. Definitely easier than a chat. Check in and out whenever you want. Will join in the cost, if there is one.

Someone posted here that Susan had another song to sing for the finals. Remember that afterwards, Piers said 'all she had to do was come out and sing the song we fell in love with, but sing it even better', so sounds like he may have been the one to talk her out of her plan. Many people on various blogs are of the opinion that Susan lost the votes because of no new material. I personally was very happy with the reprise of I Dreamed a Dream. It was interpreted so differently, reflecting her state at the time. A real artistic triumph. So glad to hear she is working on her new repertoire. Nothing like a new goal to change your outlook for the better.

Posted by DannyMac on June 03, 2009
Can't think of anything that would be better for Susan than some time with Pebbles. But, I have had cats all my life, and usually, they do not like to travel, unless inured to it from kittenhood. Again this article seems to be intent on patting Simon on the back. I figure a PR handout.
Posted by Casey's mom on June 03, 2009
You know Simon, contrary to the others never said who his favorite was. However he did say that he was disappointed that she didn;t win after the show.

He APPEARS to care and apparently he is paying for her health care. IF that is true, I may find some respect for him. Then again it may be all about the money the he can get from her talent.

It's so sad that there isn't anyone to trust.
Posted by Grace_P on June 03, 2009

Posted by PIGGIE on June 03, 2009
@MJ - you know, I won't clutter things by re-quoting here, but in that same article there were some quotes by Simon about the devastation he felt upon the death of his Father. So he can relate to Susan and her mother as well.
Posted by DannyMac on June 03, 2009
If viewership for her finals dwindled, I don't doubt in the least the reason is because it is too painful to watch and see her condition of exhaustion and trying to hold up.

Noelle, I sent an e-mail to Buckingham Palace and one to Michelle Obama asking them to please call or at least send a card to Susan. Just want to let you all know that The UK Mirror has an entire section for Susan and it's all pretty positive too. You can leave comments once you sign up with them, which is no big deal to do. I left a bunch, and left some digs to the slimoids while I was at it. They also had the article about Susan being invited to the White House. Is it just me, or are you all seeing a turnaround from the press? They better start being nice. There are pretty many of us now who are just waiting to boycott their rags and sponsors and I told them so. Also told 'em to stop calling Susan the hairy angel!
Posted by Casey's mom on June 03, 2009
I stated earlier, "I think the header should be " My Heart Will Go On", and I think that it is within her vocal range and hope that she will sing it again, I think it says it all for her. It should be her banner song.

Nobody commented, I would like comments as I believe it is all about her heart and that is why we love her.
Posted by DannyMac on June 03, 2009
Paul, whatever is needed to be done for the site's organization I am for. I don't know anything about site maintenance, forums or anything like that. I will be glad to make donations, payments or whatever you would call it. This is top priority with me. I too would like us to be able to do something when people join with apparently their only purpose being to denigrate Susan.
Posted by PIGGIE on June 03, 2009
Huh? I don't get this. Many of us have gone to amazon to request an email notification when Susan's CD is available. So I go back to amazon and click on First to Know link, and it shows a ranked list of the artists that have received the most sign-ups this week. Susan is not in that list of 160. How can this be? More people have requested "The Best of Debbie Reynolds" and "The Best of Henny Youngman" than Susan Boyle? Really? REALLY? (I'm not making that up - both of those were in the top 160.)

I can't imagine that there's a sentient person out there who wouldn't have had her spirit somewhat broken by the pressure of the last few weeks and the extraordinarily nasty British tabloid media. This doesn't have to do with "learning difficulties." It's an entirely reasonable -- and to be expected -- human reaction.

As a person whose darling cats have seen her through life's lows, I'm hoping that the report about Pebbles' imminent visit is true. Pet lovers the world over know the therapeutic effects of a pet's unconditional love.

At the end of the day, Susan Boyle is an extraordinary singer. The fact that she's also a normal human being is what gives her singing such dimension. She isn't working with just a voice; she's infusing her singing with the true understanding of life's ebbs and flows that comes only from experience, both good and bad. I honor her talent, but more to the point, I honor her.

I would be pleased to contribute to the site, and I do hope that Ms. Boyle is made aware of her enormous, most sincere base of support. She has brought a rare joy to millions.
Posted by PIGGIE on June 03, 2009
@Grace Portier - agreed. Many people here have been writing to various news media to say QUIT IT with all those denigrating terms.
Posted by Eloise on June 03, 2009
If this is true about Pebbles, it's about time! It's a clinically established fact that our bonds with our pets have everything to do with our mental health. Given how much Susan has pined over Pebbles, why on earth has it taken people this long to figure out that therein lies a good therapy?
Posted by bajaraquel on June 03, 2009
Having a great discussion on the chat site. Am inviting you over.
Posted by TXNoelle on June 03, 2009
CASEY'S MOM, "My Heart Will Go On" is surely beautiful and befitting Susan. Also, there are a MULTITUDE of songs that could very aptly apply to Susan and what she's all about. Take for instance the last stanza of "Open Arms" by Journey:

So now I come to you, with open arms Nothing to hide, believe what I say So here I am, with open arms, Hoping to see what your love means to me... Open arms

The rest of the words to that song could be revised to fit Susan. Just one among thousands for her.
Posted by DannyMac on June 03, 2009
piggie, any one who has lost a parent, especially a beloved mother can relate to Susan's grief. I lost my mother 27 1/2 years ago, and not a day goes by that I don't think of her and miss her, and sometimes the painful details of her dying will pass unbidden through my mind in spite of my efforts to keep it out. And sometimes when I think of her I'm swept with such a surge of missing her that it is like physical pain. I can still hear her voice, can still bring back her unique scent. So I can relate very well. It doesn't make me unique.
Posted by PaulieDB on June 03, 2009
just a quick post before I get caught up on the writings of today....

I am having trouble understanding why people think it strange that pet owners talk to their pets when away from them.. Heck my partner phones to speak to our Yorkie every day they are away.... I even have to put the phone to the dogs ear....

I would have thought it sounded far stranger when the likes of Prince Charles heir to the British Throne talks to his plants, yet not too many think he is so strange... I even talk to my roses...

I guess I need hospitalization then!!!!!
Posted by TXNoelle on June 03, 2009
REINDER, who's callin' you a reindeer, chere?

Yall, maybe we could email them and replace those denigrating terms like "H____ Angel" with something more befitting Susan...like "Earthy Angel."

Britain's got talent has shown that they've got a heart and conscious. Actions speak louder than words and their actions in the last day are applauded. PEBBLES is getting the raoyal treatment it seems and Susan will never again feel as she did after her appearance in BGT. But I admire Simon now as he has exibited that even a fabled cartoon such as the GRINCH WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS can be a lesson to all of us by seeing his heart not just grow. Bjut explode with LOVE and caring for wonderful Susan. He deserves to be added to the description now of adoration in the dictionary. It just needs to say adoration.....when a man know as Simon Cowel reached out to help a scottish woman, the now famous Susan Boyle. Bravo for having open ears and open minds and making a wrong a right. I respect and applaud you.....now get PEBBLES to Susan safely and let us know her reaction as we couldn't be happier now for Susan and your honest concern for her well being.

This was an e-mail I sent to BGT and Simon just wanted to share it with you

So maybe he could now relate more than he might have before that, that is all I meant.

Great news about Pebbles going to visit Susan. Now that WILL give her a lift. I am "gobsmacked" at the talent amongst the members of this fansite. What stunning designs for the Header. They are all so lovely. I will vote when the time comes for sure. But I wonder about the phrase "a new day has begun"....is it better than "a new day has dawned"? Just wondering, not finding fault by any means. I think the whole fansite and terrific exchange of ideas is brilliant. I wish we could get more news of Susan. I wonder how she is.....Cheers to Susan from Judy in Canada

@Jordie - "A new day has begun" is a line from "Memory" which Susan sang in the semi-finals. So the wording has special significance.

Noelle, I still find myself sometimes saying to myself, I'll ask Mama about that." and then realizing can't do that, she's not there.

This is good news. This is wonderful, it reminds of when my dear elderly uncle was in the hospital, I used to smuggle his little dog in to see me. It should cheer her spirits...

Hello Casey's mom, regarding your idea for banners, I think that is a great idea for a banner. I believe there are so many great ideas coming from so many enthusiastic, talented and helpful people that banners should be rotated. Maybe there should be one overall characteristic (maybe a saltire in a corner with a rose or a thistle?) that would be an identifier, but the overall banner would change periodically. My 2 cents but you asked for an opinion.

Hey guys- these must be USA posters here, cause it is like 3am right now in the Uk and Europe- Maybe Simon knew Susan's main love affair would be from us, in America, from the beginning- rags to riches and all as we are-- and the Brits are all so "London/Posh/Accent/Class conscious there....hmmm. I could get PAID for writing that in some newspaper. Yes, This is no doubt the true reason Cowell, who DOES live in the USA too, arranged for Miss Boyle to miss the tour by spiriting her away awhile. She needs to rest anyway, so the Priory is as best a place as any. This is fine with me. I didn't want her on the stupid 27 city bus tour, with a bunch of kids anyway, with people trying to hurt her and get a rise to sell a paper or get a picture. All we want is for Miss Boyle to 1. Recover her health & spirit and 2. To have her Recording Career.

To pet owners that get it!!!

Casey is my little boy, a toy poodle, I found out last night that he is going blind. Only has tunnel vision now and will be totallly blind by year's end. I went through shock, then lots of tears, noew I have to learn to live with it and make his life as comfortable as I can.

I totally understand Susan, whe I was ill ( also went threw a breakdown due to stress and anxiety due to work and had surgeries for other issues) Casey would not leave my side (lap actually) There is nothing that compares to the unconditional love they give to restore us back to health.

Noelle, don't know that song but sounds beautiful and befitiing also.

DANNYMAC, me, toooooo! Wanda Sykes just keeps me squealing with laughter.

Yall know what I'd like to see? I'd like to see Sir Elton John SERENADE Susan Boyle with his "The One." I can't think of a more exquisite tribute to Susan...right now, that is.
Posted by DannyMac on June 03, 2009
Well, like I said, you have to be an animal person to get it. And if you are not, you never will. I put my dog, Jolie Blon, on the phone to speak with her Auntie Lou, my sister that Jolie loves.

@ terijay..... i've been thinking same about that too! It made sense didn't it? Because i know it made sense to me. Especially when I read it was The Priory in North London where A-List Celebs go to recoup. It's really like a spa resort in a way - it's not a hospital feeling. It's no looney bin as some reports states.

casey's mom I agree with your comment regarding the my heart will go on comment, actually Susan does sing that and did a postion of it without any music in the background when she made her historic LARRY KING interview shortly after her YouTube audition went what would be considered ultimate platinum.

And TXNoelle what a fitting song for Susan to Sing as her first for the opening of her own concert tour when she's ready to hit the road. Can you picture Susan on stage opening with that anf the crowd jumping to their feet. Just the thought wells me us. Great suggestion!

Fellow members: As a suggested model for a fansite, you may want to take a look at the Paul Potts fansite at http://www.myspace.com/paul_potts. It is not the 'official' site (Sony BMG's is) but IMHO it is far superior to Sony's. It was started by a fan named Ally, then taken over by a guy named Larry, who does an amazing job.
Posted by YourAwesome on June 03, 2009
@dannymac I have several pets...so I know what you mean! I talk to mine like babies. To me it is purrfectly normal to chat with a cat.
Posted by PIGGIE on June 03, 2009
@Casey's mom: I'm so sorry to hear about Casey, but you know, he will manage fine. Dogs adapt so quickly to changes like that. They navigate more by smell than anything else. I've got a little furbaby too, and he's totally blind in one eye. Just very hard to see him get older.
Posted by DannyMac on June 03, 2009
Casey's mom, how terrible for you. Not uncommon experience for dog owners but that doesn't help you. We had a dog some years back who went gradually blind and was also pretty deaf. It is hard, but they do get around pretty good if kept in their familiar surroundings. And it was precious how our other dog, a Boston, took care of her. If Amoretto was in the yard when we came home after work, she would go running up the steps to tell Booboo and bring her down.

Posted by Bohemian Spirit on June 03, 2009
@Reinder1965 - I'm sure no one is meaning to insult you by typing "Reindeer" instead of "Reinder." I learned a long time ago that a lot of people--good, perfectly intelligent people--are simply "spelling challenged." They just don't have that inner editor that sees the misspellings. Also, even for those of us who *can* spell, typos happen. People do tend to make typos in a forum like this, especially at the breakneck speed everyone's been commenting!

Anyway, sorry you keep getting "mistaken" for Rudolph, but I hope that helps.

Regarding banners and slogans, there are so many good ideas on this site, I haven't been able to keep up with them! We should also keep in mind that voting for a design and voting for the text/slogan to go on the design are two separate things. I'm sure most of us who made banners kept a copy of the "blank" banner, to which we can add whatever text gets decided upon.

We can also add a little thistle in the corner, too, as someone suggested.

The idea of a rotating banner is worth considering, too. What a creative bunch we have here!

Before you all distract me anymore, I wanted to say, today the idea of operettas popped into my mind. Not to be in, but some of the songs. I can easily imagine hearing Susan singing "While My Lady Sleeps" from the Student Prince. Sung by a male in the operetta, but doesn't matter, a beautiful song. "One Alone" from Desert Song. and others. Probably too oldfashioned to appeal to Susan, not A.L. Webber. But it is musical theatre.
Posted by david on June 03, 2009
I hope Susan makes an appearance or a few appearances in this BGT live tour, if as Simon says she wants to. On the other hand Susan is as is deservingly so entitled to her own show as the LEAD ACT now to wherever she performs. If Susan had won the BGT talent show she would have been delayed in stepping into the spotlight as the soul performer. GOD works it mysterious ways, but he did a banner job with Susan. This couldn't have been scripted by anything or any one mortal person so I'm having no trouble now accepting blind intervention. And thanks to Susan likely will never again.
Posted by BostonAve on June 03, 2009
@Caseysmom Susan sang My Heart Will Go On when she was on Larry King after her BGT audition performance. She sang it beautifully without any background music and I am sure it is still out there to listen to. Maybe on Youtube.

Thanks for your input, some people don't get it. I'm not talking about people here, I'm talking about the negative press because she wanted to ear Pebbles purr.

My prayers and good wishes go out to Susan. Thanks also for her bravery to still perform despite all of the pressure (positive and negative both). My prayers are that the pressure will be lessened greatly and that Susan will feel great joy while performing (in the venues of her choice and in her own time) and that we all will be patiently supportive and delighted for her happiness and success when it happens. God's Blessing and Care to Susan. I am positive that success will happen for Susan (she has won our hearts) and I will be very excited when I hear more of Susan in whatever path she chooses. Another great fan! Best Wishes from Iowa

Oh, Casey's mom I am so sorry. My friends had a pug named Casey who in later life went blind and eventually deaf but she was their baby and they made sure she lived a happy and comfortable life. Everyone who has or has ever had pets, knows how full and rich they make our lives and how we need them more than they need us. I'm glad our Susan will be able to spend time with Pebbles...purrs from Pebbles could make all the difference in the world. Btw my screen name "josjack" is a combo of my pets names.

I think it would be quite nice for Pebbles to pay a visit. :) As for a forum, I would prefer to see an easier way to view and access the various videos. It seems like it's always the same ones (or by the same creators) that are featured or visible and it takes forever to find others that are just as worthy of being viewed.

Maybe I can sleep tonight knowing that Susan is better and that she will see her beloved Pebbles. It's sure been hard, wondering how our girls is and whether she is all right or crying. On the Andrew L. Weber thoughts, He is probably writing and composing the Broadway and West End musical that will probably be know as Susan Boyle the musical, the story of Susan Boyle, starring Susan Boyle.......followed by the number #1 selling book in the world that some top author is probably already working on.....and let's not forget Simon wanting his company to produce the MOVIE as has been disclosed. Susan trust him and I trust that he will give us a BLOCKBUSTER. Susan will be the guiding light of not only those on earth today, but future generations to come. Quite a feat for a little woman from Blackburn Scotland. Susan your mother father and siblings that have departed are basking in your glory and you have made them proud. You granted your mother's request and dreams for you beyond comprehension.

They are our babies and we need them as much as they need us, and the love they give is unbelievable and so unconditional. They give us support when we think we can't go on.

Totally understand Susan needing Pebbles when the stress got to be too much. The love of our little critter grounds us.

We got Jolie as a puppy from some irresponsible people who let their dog get pregnant every year. Best we know and can tell, she has some English Spaniel, Lab, Collie and Golden. She is medium size, a reddish gold, with a plumy tail, pantaloons, a ruff and fringy hair on the ears. Very intelligent and lovey. When we were thinking of what to name her, I thought of Jolie Blon because I have always loved that old Cajun tune, and she is a beautiful blonde.

Speaking of animals, my oldest boy cat, Joxer, aka Midnight Love Prince, Love Prince, Prince and baby boy cat, wants something tonight and doesn't know what and is driving me crazy getting me up and down

Hello mckat, Kinda funny, the glich you have found. It had me crying as I recall. If I remember correctly what happens is that you try to upload a still pic, a .jpg, but you are only able to get a dialogue that wants a video file. It's lying to you. Go ahead and proceed with the .jpg, it sort of treats stills as though they are videos. Good luck.

DAVID, reading all your thoughts in that last post,re: ALW composing musical re; Susan Boyle's life, etc. And about her being divinely inspired gift from creator, it made me think about something that would be absolutely thrilling to hear. Well, IMO. Elton John, being a songwriter, as well as singer and musician can recompose his songs just like he did for Princess Di "Candle in the Wind" I'd love to hear Elton do that with his "The One" in tribute to Susan. It sends tingles down my spine just thinking about it.

Don't know if anybody watched Access Hollywood, but Billy Bush just talked with Susan's brother. He said she should be out in a few days and she could have gone any place just to get away. She didn't have to go to the Priory. Once she learned she still had support to do her singing, he said she was a new girl.

Hi humans. Just a few comments befor having to sign off. Yes, will provide support for a forum, how many mackerel do you need and where do I send them? No expertise in setting up and running a forum, so will leave that to the experts among you. Re: my hearthrob compadre Pebbles, I have to agree with julieoffutt post above. Pebbles has lived just as circumscribed a life as Susan (before Susan's world debut, that is)and in ten years has probably seldom ventured beyond the fence of her home. Being transported to London, even if by someone she recognized (e.g. a family member) would still be extremely traumatic. Cats recognize their home by "marking" it with scent glands in their cheeks (that's why, I'm always rubbing against furniture legs, human legs, and other object in my house, so it smells like home). Unfamiliar surrounding that don"t smell like "home" could make old Pebbs ballistic. I know how much we want Susan to be reunited with andcomforted by her companion. Let's pray for her and let her know that we think about her every minute of every day so she'll regain her "fightin mood" again, and be able to leave Priority ASAP. Also, Susan could record a CD in her garage and hundreds of millions of humans would buy it; it doesn't have to be on a label backed by the Cowell human. Susan needs to know this--tell her so. Counting the seconds till we can see your adorable smile again Susan. Licks & Lovebites from San Antonio (9:45 PM)

TXNoelle, Great idea so let's e-mail Sir Elton John now. I think he knows about Susan and how she's inspired the world. Maybe he could create your idea with Lady Susan's permission and it's proceeds fund AIDS reseach or the SPCA or PETA or whatever charity Susan chooses. Susan will never have to want for anything again as expressed by her brother, but on the other hand Susan have never ever stated she wanted to become rich or is in this for the money. It doesn't take a Phd or be an Einstein to know that Susan is going to contribute much to charities and likely her own hometown Blackburn. She is not only not selfish but a precious and generous person.

I am so pleased to hear that Susan is recovering well.I am sure she will be much brighter after seeing her much loved Pebbles. With her spirits boosted after hearing from Simon and the fact an album deal will still go ahead,I am sure that she will be home and happy before very much longer.Something else that has occurred to me is how she thinks her fans feel about her because she didn't win BGT eg "will they still like me,when I let them down" Susan yes we still like you,in fact we LOVE you.You have let no one down,so do not even think like that.

They must not show American Idol on British TV; American Idol losers often have bigger careers than the winners.

NewHamster - Susan needs to be fully recovered before she even thinks of going home. This time away from the press and the prying eyes of the public is just the tonic she needs(and Pebbles by her side of course). As for going on the BGT tour, maybe it would not be the best thing for her.She may feel under pressure.Mind you I think,if she did tour with them, the roar of the crowd when she walks on stage, will tell them(BGT) just how wrong the public think they got it.I guess it would be hard for the group that actually won as well, but I can not see their appeal lasting very long anyway.

Jennifer Hudson didn't even make the final round on American Idol in 2004, but since then she's won the Golden Globe, and an Acadamy Award, has been nominated for three Grammies, and so and so on.....

I agree with you BrooklynBlessings. I have seen a different Simon since watching clips on You Tube. Simon`s a business man, but I truly believe he adores Susan. She`s a breath of fresh air and I`m sure Simon felt that too. I really think he`d be her best mentor, and really have her best interest at heart.

This from Wiki about Jennifer Hudson: She won a Grammy Award for her R&B/soul self-titled debut album, which was released in 2008 on Arista Records and soon certified gold by the RIAA for more than 500,000 shipped copies, spawning the hit single "Spotlight."

In America, no one would assume that the runner up was a "loser" but just at the start of a huge career.

As a middle-aged woman with not one, but two, beloved cats, I just know that Pebbles will be just the thing to bring our Susan back around. I can't wait for her to release a cd. I think that will be the first cd in history that is played so often it wears out. At least it will be in my home! As far as songs for Susan go, I so wanted her to sing, "This is the Moment"! It is just her life story told in a song. It should be on her album for sure. Go Susan!

Test IV -- getting there.
Posted by MJ from USA on June 03, 2009
it takes alot for Simon to say to a contestant for that matter, that Susan can decide what she wants. I have never heard Simon ever saying that to any of his recording artists. ever! For him to say that to Susan, Susan IS a very special person in Simons eyes. and he usually has a dark heart. lol
Posted by mdillow31 on June 03, 2009
TXNoelle, I can't believe you died your hair in a Texas thunderstorm. HAHA!!

Brooklyn Blessings, I too have changed my mind some about Simon. I think he cares for Susan too although I know he is looking at the money too. He may be the best out of the three judges.

When Susan comes to America we going to take her to Cajun country to pass a good time at the fais do do.

Laissez Les Bons Temps Roulez !

Maybe Simon's 'dark heart' is because he's not known genuine people before (or lately). Now he has met one; and he's beginning to change, too.

When Clay "lost" to Ruben on Ameican Idol there were also technical glitches that if they hadn't happened would likely have put Clay over the top. Regardless, though Clay came in "second" he was HUGELY popular and on the AI tour that year there were MANY more screams and fans for Clay than for the actual "winner". I acrtually felt kind of sorry for Ruben because Clay was so much more sought after. As is Adam Lambert now in spite of "losing" this year. All you see in American papers are Adam Adam Adam. But if Susan doesn't get right back to work I fear she will lose her chance to prove herself. What better tonic than to go on tour and discover how much she is loved in spite of, and in some cases perhaps because of, being the runner-up?
Posted by TXNoelle on June 03, 2009

Dannymac agree, this site is addictive, it's like going to a pub with friends. I so appreciate the support that you and other friends gave me about Casey, it's like Susan has created an international family of care and compassion in a world of hate and anger.

It's no longer just about her beautiful voice, it has gone beyond that.

Howdy Pards,

The BGT Tour would prove to be a wonderful experience for our Susan...giving her even more stage experience. Remember, she has performed for a large audience exactly three times...the more she sees those standing ovations she will undoubtably get, the more she will realize just how much she is loved and the more prepared she will be for the wonderful things ahead. I hope when she goes with Simon to prepare her CD that she will prepare not one but two...one of Broadway Hits...and one of Christmas Songs. A little while ago I was in the chat room and it was also suggested that she do a third CD...filled with Gospel music (Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, etc).

And, of course, all of us are also hoping for a DVD because we love to see her sing and well as hear her sing. When she smiles, she lights up the world.

The pressure of the competition is now over. Her future begins now...Susan belongs On Stage singing to the world. The tremendous success of her first recordings will be only the beginning for our Lady Susan Boyle.

Adios for now. Talk to ya on down the trail.

@Katladyd: I would love to hear Susan sing This Is The Moment. It is the perfect song for her.

@MJfrom USA: I think Susan must be the Wizard of Oz because she gave Simon a heart. :)

This is cute. I was working in my garden and heard the little 7 year old girl next door just belting out I Dreamed A Dream to her little brother. It was touching. She new all the words and had the nuances down pat. Someone has been watching that video! LOL

I'm really going to get a big laugh when in the future Lady Susan makes her first appearance on the RED CARPET at some premier event. Every other so called star flaunts their clothes, their appearance, their jewels. Susan Boyle once again will change everyones opinion and expectations when she is just her sweet, simple scotish self. Does her trademark jiggle and warms our hearts. It's going to be great for her, and for us and I can't wait.

OH I FORGOT to mention this on Monday .... when Meredith Viera (The Today Show) was talking about the finale, she was in the audience, she said they had to literally help Susan out on stage. She was THAT nervous. But when she started to sing, she did a 180. Meredith was surprised how well Susan just changed and the words just flow.....

@TXNoelle: if someone refers to me again as Reindeer instead of Reinder or Reinder1965 again, you will not see another video or message from me again. RESPECT. That is what the Susan Boyle story is all about. I find it utterly disgusting when people cannot seem to address a person properly. My first language was "Gronings" a dialect spoken in the North of The Netherlands. My second language is Dutch. In 2001 I found peace and a good relation in Belgium. I am trying hard to make my English on this page correct. Can I not ask the same from others? One more Reindeer and I am gone and I will await the CD or DVD by Susan Boyle in our stores.

NewHamster - I understand what you are saying and yes it would be a good tonic for Susan to go on tour.My concerns are if the BGT tour is going to occur soon, will Susan be strong enough? From one point of view, because a tour is not a competition, then she will not be under any of the same stress she has recently endured. On the other hand will she be too "fragile" and become overwhelmed by the support of her fans, will she appears live in front of a large audience.I do not for one minute think she is unstable,I just think the whole process was much more intense then she expected and therefore she stressed out.I wonder if just for the moment,it would be more beneficial for her to get into the recording studio and realise her dream has not ended. Then when she is more sure of herself,go on tour. How far away would the BGT tour be anyway?

Howdy Pards,

Susan was a master of that stage...the problems did not occur on stage. The problems were created by the British Tabloid Press. She needs the experience of this tour, the joy of those standing ovations, the understanding that she is still a beloved entertainer throughout the world. And, she needs the experience to prepare for the wonderful things that are just ahead.

She is not fragile...she's stronger than many of us combined! She was just exhausted by the roller coaster ride caused by the tabloid media...that's all.

Adios for now. Talk to ya on down the trail.

There's probably no need to write Purina. When Simon mentioned all the opportunities that were on the table for Susan, he did mention endorsements. Given that Pebbles is the most famous cat on the planet right now, I'm sure one of those endorsements is from a cat food company. Those marketing guys are pretty quick on the trigger.

SONGBIRDWATCHER, go contact Purina rat now, chere! Tell'em we can't buy Purina any more till they use Susan w/Pebbles to advert for 'em.

REINDER, listen up....YALL STOP CALLIN' REINDER "reindEEr" It's NOT showing proper respect. He's trying his best to use proper English out of respect, as he speaks and writes other languages fluently. English is not Reinder's first language. His name only has ONE E in it after the letter "d." Can we show him the same respect? And REINDER? I've been guilty of almost putting in that extra "e" myself, not out of disrespect but because the term reindeer is very common in useage here in the USA. Sorry. Hope this helps.

I say again (I am in the business of having to repeat messages to get a message through due to the short attention span people have these days - I know this from the frustrations I face with my professional job). Susan Boyle.... 1. Has to be the global media star of the year (and has single handed created the best media ratings for ITV and Simon Cowell's production company in the history of broadcasting - they owe Susan alot of money for that) 2. Lost the final through a non transparent and non voter friendly voting process (betting industry was involved for sure, including the way she was brought down by gutter press in the week before the final - there is a connection there 3. Gives faith to the world through her personality and singing talent (Susan has real charisma for many reasons) 4. Will be a global star for sure and she should forget the BGT UK talent tour. She should focus on the market that really appreciates her - i.e. USA and get her CD album out as soon as possible (but only working with people she can trust - I would not necessarily consider SyCo productions to be the company that Susan should work with - e.g. Faryl Smith from last year's BGT show got a much better recording deal through another company)

Go Susan GO
Posted by MJ from USA on June 03, 2009

Posted by DES3175 on June 03, 2009
I agree that the problems have been caused by the press. They pushed and pushed until Susan felt cornered and then took great delight in printing stories about her meltdown. I also think Susan is a strong lady and has wonderful command of the stage.I just worry that FOR THE MOMENT,she is a little "fragile" particularly when it comes to her treatment by the press. Will they leave her alone after she gets out of the clinic, so she can get back into some semblance of normal life?Or will the vultures(tabloid press) start to circle again, waiting for the tiniest slip up? I worry that if they start at her as soon as she leaves the clinic will it cause a set back.I actually hope someone sneaks her out the back door and on her way home before the press catches wind of it.
Posted by songbirdwatcher on June 03, 2009

@MJ: Eagles - Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) holds the album record at 29 million album sales (Double Diamond-plus) per: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RIAA_certification, next is Michael Jackson's "Thriller " at 28 million; Susan I think likely will go Diamond late this year or early next IF her CD is out by end of this summer.
Posted by TXNoelle on June 03, 2009
GARDENATER, ya mean when we suck the crawfish heads, chere? ;> Susan might not drink our type of "ale" though, Dixie beer or not, LOL! She's more the lemonade type and we got plenty of that if she's not "into" the house wine of Texas...iced tea, that is.

MJ, yep to Wally World's 1 million pre-ordered CD's.

WILD OL'DAN, I agree with ya, pard.

PIGGI, re: endorsements on table for Susan, I bet yer right.

RETINKALIF, I agree! Diamond all the way for Susan! Also, I had that thunderstorm here earlier. Be careful, chere!

@JRH2063; Agree on "She [Susan] should focus on the market that really appreciates her - i.e. USA and get her CD album out as soon as possible..." U.S.A. is her key market right now based on YouTube hits.
Posted by MJ from USA on June 03, 2009
I think she is fragile when it comes to the press because they write stuff that are exaggerated and lies in between. we all saw the outcome. Now the people around her and her family must do is to advise and teach her how the press operates and to learn to ignore it. how to ignore it. when to ignore it. That's what these celebrities have to do. Top A-list celebs don't read tabloid trash. they have to start grooming Susan to do the same. so this breakdown will not happen again.
Posted by mdillow31 on June 03, 2009
Someone wrote on a Simom Cowell interview upwards on this blog where Simon talked about his dark moments. I used to not like him thinking it was all about making a buck. Maybe he has softened up after seeing what Susan went through the week of the final. I am beginning to think he really might care about Susan. I hope I am right about that.
Posted by Retired In Flat Broke Kalifornia on June 03, 2009
@TXNoelle; Thunderstorms @ 1,300 U.S. foot level this time of year are somewhat rare, are more frequent in Placerville (a.k.a. "Hangtown") 12 U.S. miles east of Camerone Park. Last time we'd had one here was 5 years ago and we'd gotten soaked! Sounds like the "Tijuana Express" (i.e. windflow of storms coming up from the west Mexican coast) is passing by now.

You do an excellent job with your English. I was thinking that the other day, how impressed I was with your fluency.
Posted by NewHamster~Vermonster on June 03, 2009
DES3175, I hear you but my fear is that if Susan doesn't get out there and show she can do it she will forever be seen as, at best, too fragile for the ups and downs of the business, or, at worst, a mental case who backed out of an obligation that even 10 year old hysterical and presumably terribly disappointed Hollie Steel is able to fulfil. She really does need to understand quickly that she still utterly loved and in demand and that she has to ignore the inevitable tabloid trash and the jealous and mean people who will try to bring her down. If she backs out of the tour will there EVER be a tour or will those who put the money forth for those kinds of things be afraid to invest in it? Susan has to realize that if she wants a singing career she will have to put up with crap - and move on. I have no doubt she'll be able to call the shots soon - maybe even now (like insisting on a visit home at least once a week, certain people can travel with her etc..) - but she needs to show the power people that she can do it.

reinder1965: I'm sure it isn't a lack of respect, it's that people aren't looking closely at the spelling. Reindeer is a common word in English, so that's what they automatically write without thinking.

My new grandson's name is Haiden, but the common spelling in America is Hayden. People will probably spell it wrong his whole life. My last name used to be Huffman, but people always spelled it Hoffman, even when I spelled it out for them aloud! Unfortunately, people are creatures of habit and spell names whatever way they are used to doing. I think sometimes it is useless to get upset about it because the poor dears can't seem to control it.

Regarding all the comments on Amanda Holden (blonde bimbo, slut, tart, etc), I'm not too fond of her myself and, in fact, never even heard of her until I heard Susan sing. Since then, I've seen more of Amanda than I wish, lol. As a natural blonde, I resent the "blonde" label being attached to her! Amanda is a natural brown-eyed brunette - the current piss-yellow color is a bleach job. She's just trying to channel her inner Marilyn Monroe, understand? If you don't believe me...go listen to Paul Pott's audition where you will see her with something close to her natural hair color.

Wild Ol' Dan - Please do not take my referring to Susan as "fragile",to be meant as an insult.Far from it,saying it is just my way of expressing my concern for her personally and her ability to deal with the tabloid press, especially if they start in on her as soon as she leaves the clinic. I truly think Susan is wonderful and I am one of her many fans awaiting her first(and any others to follow)CDs. She is a shining light in an all too often sad and dreary world.

DES3175, maybe if we get up a group to email the scabloids pre-Susan re-entry into the entertainment world, it will have the desired affect. As you can probably see, they've already begun to change their tune with all the public "smacks" at them about their cruelties and derogatory comments towards her. We've also told them we'll notify their advertisers and boycott them, too, and that'll hit 'em in the wallet where it hurts!

SONGBIRDWATCHER, no worries. Just wait for them to finish their fiddling with their site and try again. I tried to contact Elton John about that redo of "The One" in tribute to Susan, but the only way to contact is through his FaceBook blog, so I'll hafta do that later, too.

MJ, do you think the badgering and bullying by the scabloids may have given Susan PTSD flashbacks to her school days when kids bullied her about her looks, etc.?? If so, no wonder she's fragile where that stuff is concerned.

MDILLOW, Simon said after Susan performed her final, "I absolutely adore you." and you could see in his face that he meant every word of it. I think Susan has totally captivated him. She's mesmerized the rest of the world and we haven't even seen her in person!

reinder1965, my name is Marianne. All one word. I get Mary Ann, etc. all the time. I don't like my first name only the spelling because it was different. So, I know what you mean.
Posted by PIGGIE on June 03, 2009
@Reinder: I don't think I've ever written your name incorrectly, but I hope you would understand that sometimes in typing, our fingers type the word that is more commonly used, and reindeer is a very common word here. I know at work, I have to use the work "product" alot, and gosh darn, my fingers inevitably type "produce" instead. Don't know why....So I hope you would not leave us if ONE person mis-types your name. I'm sure it is not out of disrepect! And also, with the tiny screens and font some of us are working with, and not very good eyesight for some as well (me included) it actually took me a while to notice that there was only one E between the D and the R. I've gotten many of the screen names wrong simply because I don't see so well. Anyhow, just hope you'll hang out here, really enjoy your comments, and forgive a mistake here and there, especially from the newcomers who may be seeing your name for the first time. Hugs to you.

@TXNoelle, I LOVE Wanda Sykes. She is like George Carlin in that she uses the truth and what is obvious in her humor. She makes me laugh harder than anyone because she tells the truth.

You know, if one is considered crazy for talking to animals or considering them best friends forever, I am in BIG trouble. As you can tell by my avatar, I am in love with Fur Babies. I talk to them all the time and when I've been in the hospital, I've missed them more than anything. They love us unconditionally, bad hair days, if out butts look fat in jeans, it doesn't matter. They are there for us. I bet Susan misses Pebbles.

NewHamster - Of course you are right,I guess I like others have become just a little over protective of Susan. She should not EVER be seen as a mental case, which she is most definitely not,she has just had to deal with the kind of crap from the press that no one should have to deal with and needs a rest. She will return and she will be a huge star.Regardless of what the press says about her,I think now the pressure of competition is over, she will deal with them much better. All I can say is watch out press when "our" Susan is out and about,I seriously do not think she will take any of the same crap again.

ZAN, LOL, re: faux blonde Amanda! I saw one of the earlier BGT vids where she's definitely a brunette!

@ TXNoelle ..... probably one of the reasons. this contest is also important to her cuz it's the break she needs. the only one that actually gave her a chance and the tabloids are ruining it for her. might've also triggered too. i mean the only one chance in the world after how many tries for so many years result to alot of disappointments and let downs. here comes the nasty press, stirring the pot of lies. Our Susan needs to develop thicker skin when it comes to the press. imo
Posted by southernlady on June 03, 2009
I think Susan is not only a very strong lady, but also very sensative. Ain't nothing wrong with that. When she sings "I dream a dream". I can tell that she truely "feels" the music & the words touch her down deep. Only a beautiful soul can do that!!

Howdy DES3175,

The pressures of the competition, the disappointment of the untruths that were being spread by the tabloids, the sleepless nights, lack of proper eating...all these things contributed to her need to rest. BUT, I don't think this has anything whatsoever to do with a "learning disability"...my gosh how I hate that term...I can't play the piano, I can't remember the lyrics to I Dreamed a Dream, or Memory...I think it is just not true to say that her exhaustion or reaction to the tabloids had anything whatsoever to do with an "inability". Most of us would have reacted the very same way or even more forcefully. All the hype surrounding that was just that...hype. Her performance on stage that evening showed tremendous control, tremendous talent, tremendous strength. I believe Lady Susan is strong...not fragile. I believe she was exhausted by the competition, and needed a little rest. Now...I agree that she has to learn to roll with the punches up ahead, that she needs to be kept away from the pirahna in the press, protected from the sharks...but she needs to get out on that stage and sing. She needs to feel our love for her...if her dream is to come true... When you are bucked off a Bronc, the only thing to do is get right back on a ride... That's what our Susan needs to do. And I believe she is more than strong enough to win this here rodeo...

Adios for now. Talk to ya on down the trail.

I followed the suggestion to watch Susans performance in the finals and it's poetry in motion and song....I can't stop welling up. This will always be her trademark song and why we feel and fell in love with her. I listened to each word and watched every movement she made including just her simple finger movements....Susan in her performance on that night with her carrying the pressure of the world on her small shoulders expressed in song to us once again her life, her last few days, and what now was her next few days all in that single song. It couldn't have been scripted, but it was all to real. And as for the head shake it comes after a verse that she shakes her head in defiance to those critics who sought to destroy. I'll keep saying it there is something much greater here going on and Susan has been the choosen one to make a world in turmoil begin to heal and love everyone for the first time ever. Remember it's apparant that it's not just a legion of Susan Boyle fans or groupies.....it's world leaders for the first time united in a belief. I feel priviledged to be alive today to witness this miracle.

Someone mentioned Susan and Pebbles doing a Purina commercial. Naw....Purina is cheap grocery store food and I never feed it to my 5 cats. Male cats, in particular, develope cystic kidneys and get urinary tract infections when fed a steady diet of cheap dry catfood. I'd like to see Susan and Pebbles do a Science Diet commercial instead, yeah! I feed my cats dry Science Diet and high-quality canned. My oldest cats are 19 and 20 and still going strong. Someone else wanted to know if Pebbles was male or female. I would guess female as she appear to be a calico cat to me and calico's are always females. Once in a blue moon, a male calico will be born, but they are always sterile.

If you want to hear something POSITIVE about Susan, Billy Bush from Access Hollywood talked with Susan's brother Gerry today. Here's the site to hear what he says. It's very POSITIVE particularly about America. He also mentions the White House invite.

MJfrom USA, the finals went to Diversity because of the press but mostly because the phone numbers at YouTube gave the incorrect phone number for Susan and the bookies. It was rigged.
Posted by southernlady on June 03, 2009
So true Wild Ol' Dan!! I have a feeling that Susan is not only getting the rest she needs at the clinic, but also getting alot of really good "coping" info that she will need once she gets back into the public eye.
Posted by katladyd on June 03, 2009
If a person is over-stressed and needs some rest, that makes them exhausted, not mental. If Susan hadn't reacted to all the changes in her life, THEN she would have been mental! This is a sweet, honest, woman who just wants a chance to sing for people. I say we let her, for a long, long, time!

SOUTHERNLADY, Exactly!

ML, High 5's on Wanda and George! I love George Carlin, too, for just that reason! I'm so sorry George is departed now. :(

Yall, I think we need to get on a pre-emptive campaign here in the USA to notify the USA scabloids that we will NOT tolerate any negativity from them regarding Susan Boyle, even to threatening to contact their advertisers where it will hit 'em in the wallet where it hurts!

TXNoelle ~ Yep. Pinchin' da tails too.

You talking about that Texas Ice Tea with the bourbon in it? A Dixie Longneck? Susan, being so gracious, would sample all the local specialties. We sure could have fun with that girlin the sunny Southlands. Tonight I am in Arizona, where it is 100 degrees at 9:30 p.m. Now, this is just wrong, Girl.

Good Night and Sweet Dreams to All...

Susan will be fine. I have no doubt about it. I believe she is strong too or how else could she have taken care of her Mum for those years and sing like she did after a week of hell.

I have done photography for tennis events and matches. What is seen by the public is a show and they go home thinking of what they saw. But, backstage is nuts with people running all over the place trying to get it together to work. Your glad when it is over believe me. It's a tough business.

This is my 3rd post of the night - (guess I am channeling my inner-Noel, eh?) I just finished listening to Susan on YouTube again...both versions of 'I Dreamed a Dream' and although I still prefer the audition version, the finale version is growing on me. It is more controlled, smooth and steady and just perfect from a professional standpoint. However, I feel she has absolutely lovely hand and arm movements and those show better when she has the portable microphone as she did in the audition. My favorite arm/hand gesture of hers is in the audition when she sang "Then I was young and unafraid..." Do you guys remember that? All die-hard Susan fans will know exactly what I am talking about.
Posted by Retired In Flat Broke Kalifornia on June 03, 2009
@JRH2063; As a BIG kitty fan she'd "knock'em dead" on the Internet cat care circuit. Am assured that Susan's love of domestic pets will be boon for animal care organizations like SPCA.
Posted by mdillow31 on June 03, 2009
I have noticed a differnce in the media on TV about Susan. The ones I sent emails to where I threatened to boycott their show and sponsors and not buy their sponsors products if they say anymore humilating remarks about Susan has stopped it.
Posted by Retired In Flat Broke Kalifornia on June 03, 2009
@Zan; I'd like's Susan "Memory" performance best regarding use of hands but "I Dreamed A Dream" threw my thoughts back to pix & films of the great stage Dames of the pre-World War One era, particularly the crescendo when she'd lifed her right arm high - such class, WOW!
Posted by TXNoelle on June 03, 2009
MJ, I'm thinkin' Susan WILL develop that thicker skin eventually, but there's always those flashbacks, which I, personally know from experience she'll always have to deal with. That's why we need to get on the scabloids here and pull 'em up by the short ones, before Susan makes her debut in the USA.

RETINKALIF, LOL re: Telemundo melodrama! All hat and no saddle, eh?

SKYSTHELIMITSUSAN, I hear ya, chere!

RETINKALIF, ah. Gotchya, re: change to Mozilla. Sorry bout dat. I only recently changed because I discovered that MSW is not NEARLY as secure as Mozilla Firefox. I don't get the spam I was getting on MSW.

JRH, me, too. That would be very interesting to hear from Susan. ZAN, you're right! I agree. I buy Science diet for my mini-Schnauzer terriorist Baba Lu, too. She has a sensitive stomach and cannot tolerate run-of-the-mill dog foods or even table scraps.

Here goes my 4th post of the night. Okay, I admit it, Noelle and I are sisters. That said...when Susan's CD comes out, I hope and hope that her version of 'I Dreamed a Dream' will be the FULL version. Wouldn't that be something to hear her sing this song in its entirety? Due to time constraints, she had to cut out 2 verses during the audition and even more during the final. I really don't understand the BGT format at ALL. You'd think during the final, they'd give the contestants more time? No......they give them even less time! In American Idol, the contestants get more and more time to sing as each round goes on. Again, I hope Susan will be able to sing the song in its entirety....that is really something to look forward to! For those who are not familar with this song...I have pasted the very first verse of the song below for you, the opening verse she never sang because of the time constraints:

There was a time when men were kind, And their voices were soft, And their words inviting. There was a time when love was blind, And the world was a song, And the song was exciting. There was a time when it all went wrong...

Wild Ol' Dan - I do not believe I mentioned her "learning disability" in any of my posts.I agree with you and I am sick of people bringing it up,it clearly does not cause her any real problems.A totally honest Susan told people this about herself in an early interview and now some are trying to use it against her.I wish they would move on and focus on her immense talent.I wish I had just half the talent she has - okay, all of it,lol. The way the tabloids have treated her is disgusting, but of course they will not see that they have done anything wrong.Sadly as long as people buy and read their crap, they will continue to write it. Once she is fully rested and has seen Pebbles again, she is going to kick some serious butt in the entertainment world and watch out press, because Susan is certainly learned a few things in this past few weeks and you are not going to be able to upset her so easily and write pathetic stories about her. Susan has more class, more charm and more talent then most of the tabloid reporters have in their collective little finger.

Posted by JRH2063 on June 03, 2009
The simple truth is that Susan came from nowhere to being a global superstar in the space of 2 months. I am not aware that anyone else has done that before in the history of the world. Can you imagine the stress Susan must be feeling? Plus also having people like Amanda Holden (amongst others)feeding off Susan.

Just to add to my last post(I really need to get away from this computer)IMO Fragile does not equal "learning disability" When I say fragile I refer to her being extremely fatigued, extremely discouraged by what has been written, unjustly, about her in the tabloids. When I say fragile I mean in need of (a) a few good nights sleep,(b)a few good meals (c) the comfort of family and friends,(d) and finally to be left in peace by the tabloids. All in all she has handled things very well.I would have punched someones lights out long before this, lol.

ZAN, I totally agree on Susan's being allowed to use a mike in her hand along with her wonderful hand and arm gestures. It gives her the freedom of movement that's so necessary to see her whole a la Susan persona performance. What a DIVA!!!

MDILLOW, you da Ma'am!!!

RETINKALIF, I loved that Susa-arm high, too, on the crescendo of "shame". WOOOOT! Oh, yeah, and "Pobrecita me. Un pocita Espanol, no comprendo except "significant." But I sure know how to make those homemade hot tamales, chili and chili con carne, enchilladas, Menudo, a great Tex-Mex dish called Chicken Felicidad and I can use a Mulcahete (sp) with the best of 'em. Susan will be a success in both the recording studion and as a live artist. I know I will pay big bucks for the chance to go see the amazing Susan Boyle! Methinks we should all contact moderate-sized venues in our area and demand they book Susan within the next 6 months.

By the way, it is refreshing to be able to communicate with other Susan Boyle fans. It means the world to me! I hope someone around her lets her view our postings, the true ones from real people, like herself.

@JRH2063 re. Susan came from nowhere to being a global superstar in the space of 2 months; absolutely true from the standpoint of a soon-to-NO-longer-be amature artist like Susan who for personal reasons had not pursued a professional career earlier in life, but there are a number of "working to pro status" artists who became internationally famous in a very short time.

The Internet has changed everything; Susan became famous overnight entirely under her own horsepower - and her voice has PLENTY of it that's for sure! - she's "probably unique" pending further research on my part in being the first global Internet sensation as a soloist; Elvas strictly speaking always had a band & choir around to "help him out" and he really didn't become famous until appearing on the Ed Sullivan Show.

BS! suan should not do the bgt tour she does not need them. they have used her enough. i also need topint out that the similiarities between susa and streisand. susan belongs only in the studio for now. she does not have a catalog of songs..yet..... i really trust simon and his business savy.... so lets just keep issuing messages of suppot. not MORE STRESS by adding comments she should do this and that remember susan does read some of this as well as ????? she does not need stress.. all she wants to do is sing!!!!! i personally think that is the best for her until she can adjust to the press, the fans, and the rest of the media!!!!!!!!!

I'm not a PETAphile but I DO believe in stopping animal abuse AND proper care of pets; we have one cat GENIE who GOD gave to us @ 05:00 hours one morning 5 years ago who I think somebody had dumped off. Genie IS the sweetist little girl we've ever had and we've had cats continously since 1970, I'll KILL to protect her if need be to prevent her being harmed by anybody!

Wild O Bill, the words "learning disability" should be dropped and forgotten. Those that use them are ignorant. Susan has probably higher intelliengence than the average reporter in the media. Cher was a learning disabled child, so be it. It means though that they had to work harder than the average person to get to where they are today!

My comment that got lost was: consider this...she'd been told for years that she wasn't worth anything...neighborhood kids, unemployment, people who thought she was a freak for living with parents...difficult birth...she believes/believed it...when they were going to announce the results in the finale and she mouthed diversity, she was just confirming what she'd been told...but not what she wanted to believe...poor self-esteem is very difficult to turn around...she will only know her true value when she gets out amongst the audience. Somewhere I'd read that they were going to try with smaller venues...we have a beautiful venue in town...holds about 2400 people...crystal chandeliers...flocked wallpaper...contacted them to be put on a Susan list...priceless...she needs to be told by her fans that she's now more than just a money machine but that people value her as a person...

Yes, it is her value as a person that draws people to her. Lots of singers have beautiful voices, but Susan is REAL! We don't see that very often and the media doesn't quite know what to do with her. I have never been a big fan of many singers, but I have had my heart completely stolen by this woman!

I really appreciate having found this site as I find myself wanting to know all I can about Susan. I have never been a "fan" of anyone before but adored Susan even before she began to sing on the first BGT YouTube video.

Having three cats, I can just say, I hope Pebbles is not totally freaked out by travelling to a strange place. I know my babies would be. Thanks for letting me go on and on. Leslie from California.

@JRH2063; 10-4 your comments mental health issues for entertainment performers, they're human beings just like us all here. I've had to be hospitalized several times for stress (real AND imagined) all of them over 30 years ago and NONE since, thank GOD!
Posted by johnnycake on June 03, 2009
Hey, dmichael, I don't see a lot of stuff that should cause Susan any stress. What's wrong with her fans wishing she would perform where they can see her. I think we ALL want nothing but her comfort and safety first and foremost, but of course we stil want to see and hear her. Can't blame any of us for that, anymore than I could criticize you for opining that she shouldn't go on the tour, it's your opinion as to what would be best for her. But that's probably something she should decide for herself. I'm just glad that loyal fans like you care so much about her that even though it's a quiet spell in the Susastory you come here out of a common concern for Susan to show her your love. That seems to me (though what do I know) to be what Susan needs most of all, to know that her fans won't abandon her while she takes a much deserved break. I think she understands that celebrities' fans love to gab about their favorite stars, she does that too I am sure. Just another thing a Scottish Wonderwoman does, I guess.

Anyway,I talk alot about singing talent and the trials and tribulations of being put on the stage as an instant singing star (as well as all the psychological complexes involved in the music business). In my professioanl opinion, over the past 20 years the 2 female singers I enjoy listening to most are 1. Susan Boyle and 2. Siouxsie Sioux. Both of those singers have clear singing talent and a way of expression in their singing. My comment for what it is worth.
Posted by bajaraquel on June 03, 2009
Agreed johnnycake. Susan captured our hearts and we are all expressing "our" dreams for Susan. Not a single one of us would put our desires before Susan's health and well being. That is the wonder of this site that keeps me coming back.

Hi Leslie, glad you are here. I have to ask how it is that you knew of Susan before the first Youtube video?
Posted by Zan on June 03, 2009
@Noelle....mammary's nonewithstanding....you are absolutely correct! The left arm going up on the major crescendo DOES occur on the word "shame." I watched it 3 times in hopes of redemption, but noooo......your advanced age has bested me again, sigh.

Suzanne - glad to be away from Texas

@johnnycake...regarding your opinion that BGT made the time limit even shorter in the final round than time allowed for the auditions and semi's....was due to "oversold advertising minutes" - I just don't know, but cannot think of any other explanation, so you may be right. Also, you asked "leslie" just how in the heck she can claim to have enjoyed listening to Susan sing long before she went on BGT....had me wondering too, lmao. Unless she is Susan's neighbor and heard her practicing with her hairbrush, I can't imagine where she heard her sing prior to BGT....unless she is a regular during karoke night at the Scotish pub. However, I think someone named 'las4124' made that curious comment, not 'Leslie'

Brooklyn Blessings, thank you for reposting my romantic ruminations. I have seen the movie Sabrina and love the story. Clearly I have read far too many romantic novels, where the plot is basically always the same and the hero is always seemingly without the capacity to feel any human emotions, especially 'love', until he meets the heroine! And then he is transformed ... lol!

But this isn't a novel. I do really believe Simon has been deeply effected by Susan. He has tried twice, very publicly to apologize to her, and I liked the fact that he, of the three judges, acknowledged that she did not need to continue in the competition. Watch him during Susan's final performance. There is a different look on his face. Amanda said he 'shed a tear'. He pointed out that she did not need them, that she could have made it in America without the show. And then he tried, once again, to apologize to her and I think he meant it.

She needs a protector and it looks like he's stepping in to try to put an end to the horrible coverage in the tabloids. He could have walked away, and I thought he would. I don't know, there is another side to him. He is very charitable, I found out and doesn't just hand out money, as he did to the couple with the sick child, he paid their mortgage so one of them could stay home and care for the child. He stays in touch with them. They were strangers to him also.

Susan said, when she talked about having a crush on Piers 'I like Simon too, but he's the boss and that would be disrespectful'. I'm probably wrong, but how great would it be if Susan was the one to bring him down to earth.

Okay, I'm getting carried away now, but I'm glad he has not deserted her as many people thought he was about to do. And for now, I'm happy she is protected. We'll see what happens in the future. Anyhow, thanks again for getting what I was saying :-)

TXNoelle, I didn't recognize you! Lol! Glad you sort of agree with me about Simon also. He's a hard case to sell to anyone, and I am wary. But I never saw him look at anyone the way he was looking at Susan at the finals while she was singing.

MJ, nice comments from you also. Someone said (sorry, this thread is so long I can't keep up with everyone) that he was deeply affected by the loss of his father. Maybe it was Piggie? He worked for his father, I think they were very close. He has not been running around giving interviews or speaking for Susan as Amanda (I asked her on her website to please not do that) and Piers have been doing. But, what he is doing seems to have made her happy. He's told her she has a great career ahead of her and that's what she needed to hear.

I had read that article that Piggie quoted from I think, the one about him admitting to being anti-social at times. And being told that everyone takes a part of him, which I'm sure is true. Except Susan. And he had to be touched as we all were, when he found out that she thought her dream of being a professional singer was over. It seems he called her to reassure her that was not so.

And if it was his idea to get Pebbles to Susan? What a wonderful gift that is, better than any diamond necklace.

We'll see but I feel a lot better knowing he is taking care of her career and her needs, and I really hope I'm not wrong.

Casey's Mom, so sorry about your baby. That is sad. I do know though, that cats, and dogs can manage quite well without sight. One of my favorite kittens, Spencer, was attacked by an racoon and lost one eye. I was devasted when the vet said he couldn't save it. But it did not affect him at all, and he even managed to look cute with just one eye, like a beloved teddy bear that has lost an eye from too much hugging.

DannyMac, understand your feelings about Simon, they were mine too for a long time. And you could be right. But I hope you don't mind if I say, I hope you are not.

ML, how funny to hear the little girl singing 'I dreamed a Dream'. I think my puppy knows all the words by now also. She certainly has heard it often enough.

RETINKALIF, you've got mail.

LISA IN IOWA!!!!! (spews diet Coke on monitor and keyboard) In Houston it's a rule that tires must be changed at between 70 and 80 mph. ROFL!! I clean up, hokay?

FINLANDIA50, that is truly exciting news! I am sure that Susan Boyle is going to be tickled pink-er when she hears of this!

ML, g'night, chere. JOHNNYCAKE, thank you for that kinder, gentler response. I was baaaaaaad. :(

TOMMYUSA, hot dang! Will you PLEASE start passing out boxes of tissues with those tributes? Your letter to Susan is simply stunning and she's gonna fall in love with YOU and we'll never hear from her again, because she'll only have eyes for YOU! J/K, Tommy. Oh...and no worries, Tommy. I think Susan's gonna know just how MUCH she's loved when she gets that DVD and letter!

JOHNNYCAKE, I was wondering that, too! But then...Susan's delightful personality and humility were already shining bright before she began her audition performance, weren't they?

ZAN...(Noelle simpers smugly) BTW, las4124 IS Leslie. Check her signature at end of post. An don't MAKE me come up there and drink up all your Black Russians, chere!

MDILLOW, glad yall didn't get totally rained out during the VS tennis event. It rains a WHOLE lot down here, yanno.

SABRINA, a BIG amen to ALL you said, chere! Oh, and I got a little tan. J/K That's Wanda Sykes, my very favorite comedienne! Wanda RAWKS!!!! And when Simon post-final performance of Susan, said to her, "I simply adore you." There was no guile in his expression, not one bit.

Posted by johnnycake on June 04, 2009
Hey Noelle, did you get a new hairdo?
Posted by sabrina6850 on June 04, 2009
TommyUSA, that is a wonderful letter. Thank you for including all of us. I'm sure your videos will make her so happy.

David, congratulations on the new cat and how lovely to name it after Susan and Pebbles. I just said in a post today, that I wondered how many kittens would be named 'Pebbles'! Lol! I have a puppy her name is Betsy. She's just too cute for words. Animals are the best. And I'm so glad Susan will see Pebbles soon.

She talked about how her sudden fame was affecting Pebbles in an interview about a month ago. She said she, Susan, was having a great time (that makes me sad now considering what happened) but that Pebbles wasn't very happy about all the fuss and that Pebbles ran upstairs and stayed there all day, when the camera crew came to the house. I guess that's why we never saw Pebbles in her interviews.

I lost a whole post somehow, and am too tired to repost right now.

Brooklyn Blessings and Piggie and Noelle, the post was in response to all your comments about Simon. And to thank Brooklyn Blessings for reposting my comments about Simon and Susan from the other thread. Maybe I'll try to put it together again tomorrow.

Too sleepy right now ~

Midllow31, here is one you ought to read: http://www.philly.com/dailynews/features/20090604_Tattle__A_TLC_pleas_for_Susan_Boyle.html PICKING UP on something Tattle said last week about reality- TV producers' taking responsibility for messing up lives, Great Britain's culture secretary, Andy Burnham, said his nation's media regulator (Ofcom) should look into the handling of Susan Boyle Burnham asked whether the network and "Britain's Got Talent" producers had done enough to protect Boyle, who had gotten testy with photogs in the days before the final.

"The contestants' welfare should always come first," Burnham told a meeting of the Broadcasting Press Guild.

Burnham said the 24-hour nature of news coverage means that broadcasters have an obligation to contestants well beyond their time on TV.

"We are living in a world where it is not just about what happens on telly on a Saturday night. There is 360-degree scrutiny, 365 days a year," he said.

"We need to look after people, not just around the camera."

Posted by tweek on June 04, 2009
I am totally convinced while we sit up posting on the internet, the news media reporters good and bad are deciding what kind of new twist they can write on Susan, since she is so utterly important to the world...I guarantee, if people, like us were interested in Susan, They'd either go back to sleep or they'd find some other celebrity, like Bo the White House talk to write about.

Just when you think they're going to be nice to someone, they have to turn and throw in some spew. It's maddening. I watched a brief news report on Susan and the man news caster did a fair job,on presenting not only the facts but tried to be kind to her situation, then the lady co aanchor made some snyde remark, like what about her 4 lletter word episodes. The man kept talking like he did nnot hear her. I can't remember which show it was, but it made mde mad!

TommyUSA - Thank you so much! I've seen all your videos (I think) and each one conveys so much of what we have felt about Susan and our hopes for her future. Your letter is lovely as well - with pebbles in her lap and your tributes on the screen she should be well-assured that all will be well.

G'night all - it's early a.m. here.
Posted by mdillow31 on June 04, 2009
tweek, here is another one I found.

"Ofcom is understood to have received more than 150 complaints about Britain's Got Talent, but the watchdog claims Boyle's case is not covered by the Broadcasting Code."

"However, Barbara Follett, the culture minister, disagreed and said that the protection of vulnerable contestants fell within Ofcom's remit."

"Reports of Boyle's hospitalisation made "uncomfortable" reading, Miss Follet said. "There is obviously concern about Susan Boyle, and Ofcom will be talking to the producers of Britain's Got Talent about her. I hope the producers and Ofcom will have a conversation about measures and ways of preparing people. The shock of sudden exposure is difficult."

"I watched Saturday night's episode and you could see the strain that Miss Boyle was under, and other contestants were too. It is fair to say that through her life she had sought this kind of activity by entering talent competitions and so on. You have to protect freedom of choice, and Miss Boyle did choose this, but she wasn't aware of the effects."

"I am old enough to remember something called Opportunity Knocks and there they had a clapometer, not phone-ins or anything like that. The difference between Opportunity Knocks and Britain's Got Talent is the new media. What you do in the space of 24 hours - or 24 minutes - can go around the world. That's the difference, and your duty of care is greater."

Speaking before a Commons culture, media and sport select committee, Miss Follett also urged Ofcom to look into the welfare of child performers on reality shows after 10-year-old Hollie Steel was reduced to tears during the live semi-final."

Looks like all reality shows are going to be looked at for protection of contestants.

Gotta go to bed now. It's been a long day.

TX Noelle, do you write professionally, or do you just have the professional gift of gab, and to catch it all it's amazing, girl!
Posted by tweek on June 04, 2009
To Tommy U.S.A. from all the heart felt members of Susan's Fan Club, that was a great tribute to how we all feel about Susan. When it gets to her it should very well make her day! You added the perfect touch besides putting the DVD's in the package, when you stated we are awaiting her CD. Her brother said in one of his interviews supposedly that Susan was worried that no one would buy her CD's after all this huppla. You know, we know, and I know that's ridulous. So folks, anybody writing to Susan, make sure you tell her you are waiting for her CD or Albums. Thanks again, Tommy.
Posted by stevieboy49 on June 04, 2009
In the light of Burnham's comments recently, I was just wondering how the hell they are going to protect Susan from the baying hordes of press hounds that will once again descend on Blackburn when, and if, Susan returns home? Similarly, if she does decide to appear at the BGT roadshows, I do hope that there are sufficient 'minders' to protect her at these venues. Arte you listening, Cowell? I don't think that she is as 'fragile' as people are making out and I do so wish that people would stop referring to her 'disability'. IMHO, no one who can remember so vividly her lyrics to all the many songs that she has sung in her life can in any way be described as "mentally challenged." She is one feisty woman and I think that, once rested, she will bounce back with renewed vigour and also, hopefully, rather more worldly-wise about the pressures and pitfalls of the industry of which she is now a part. A thought also does occur that maybe getting her beloved Pebbles to her is a sign that she does not intend to go home once she leaves the Priory. I, for one, hope so for whilst I understand her longing to be with those she loves and in the place she knows so well, perhaps it might be best if she left for Prague and recorded the album that everyone of her fans throughout the world longs to hear. That way, she does not have to face immediately those who so viciously have tried to put her down.

wow, traffic has really gone down now. We probably don't need a forum. Readers are dwindling to diehard fans now. I just read this, http://www.thestar.com/article/643201. Canada sure can be punitive. This is about the ugliest article I have ever seen. If it were remotely true and it HAD to be ugly, I could understand. But it's not true. About the cat. Won't it upset Susan even more having to see Pebbles freaking out at new surroundings? Cats don't understand, and do freak out. Susan should go home to where Pebbles is.

Posted by inspiredbysusan on June 04, 2009
@elainepop - I'm not sure readers are really dwindling as much as a) going back to work b) having difficulty reading the volume of posts and then being able to comment where the comment would be appropriate...for example...I might want to comment on something that was posted a few hours ago even though I just read it. Well, even though there still may be "life" left in that thread/topic, no one will understand it or be able to then reply because there are 200 other posts in the interim. Just as an aside, I have markedly decreased posting because as you said, it's completely dominated by the folks that are "talking" to one another - it's as if others are really not needed/welcome although that isn't what they are doing. But I still look through here for articles other facts. So, I think a forum would definitely help keep conversations and topics separate. Just my thoughts.
Posted by inspiredbysusan on June 04, 2009
If I were Susan I'd stay at the Priory - the photos of the photographers and reporters camped outside that facility this week would be scary to me. As stevieboy49 said, she better have protection - that should be part of her management team. Hopefully her village will also step up to protect her at home.
Posted by elainepop on June 04, 2009
I've been reading the comments on this blog and must point out that the people or person who keeps saying "take your meds" to anyone who gives an opinion that they don't like, is out of line. It isn't fair to denigrate people with mental issues. Heck, isn't this what this whole fiasco is about? Imagine if Susan read this blog. She would be so insulted, and pick up the hypocrisy right away. Mental illness is not something to insult people about, Noelle. It's just a fact of life and everybody has it in some form or another.

Susan was fine on BGT...it was the tabloids that done this damage to her and started her worrying nobody liked her and my biggest fear is when she leaves the priory hospital they are all there ready to start on her again! This site is like a breath of fresh air to me and installs some of my trust in human beings because after ready some of the things I have read about a beautiful person such as susan I could easily become a recluse! Folks/Moderator of this site: I was just reading the posts and a fairly negative but seamingly honest post appeared from an apparently UK based member. It dissapeared as I was reading it for the second time. Is there some censoring going on here? are others not allowed to air their views? This is a free country is it not. I do hope the person who posted will do so again. Si

why can't members start their own blog? anyone knows? maybe it is a good idea to enable that, so this site can create groups which can discuss specific topics ? anyone agrees? more ideas?

Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, you done good. Thinking of Susan seeing those videos of yours is so exciting. Wish we could see her face when she reads your letter and looks at the videos. I do believe that will convince her more than anything how much we love her, not just the singing, but her. And thanks for including all of us in your letter.
Posted by DannyMac on June 04, 2009
Tommy, now that you have the videos combined on a disc, is there anyway, we could have copies. We could send money in advance for the cost, if there is a way available to you. I would so much love to have one.

Now that you have that done, hope we will be seeing more from you in blog.

Admit it, some of you have ditched sleep and are on here 24 hours a day, every day. I need to make notes as I skim the messages because by the time I'm at the bottom I have forgotten what I wanted to comment on.

I don't want Simon or BGT having anything connection with this site whatsoever. Paul and Ryan are extended family to Susan, that makes this her official personal site as I far as I'm concerned, and I trust them. They have done a great job. They will continue to adjust and improve and it will be solely for Susan. Maybe someday it can even be officially designated on site that it is Susan's official fan group[ and site.

Reinder, with apologies from everyone who spells your name wrong and I hope you have a good sense of humour and from now on they will get it right.

p.s. I get fed up being referred to as Scotch not Scots. The people are Scots. Scotch is whisky and whiskey is Irish.

I’ve been looking into the future.

Susan was visiting Moscow recently for her big concert at the Cremlin.

She was mobbed by thousands of her adoring fans from all over the world.

She stopped a communist official named Rudolph and asked if he could point out in the crowd one of her favourite fans called Reinder.

Rudolph pointed out this handsome young man in the crowd.

If that’s Reinder then he’s a Dutchman she said.

Rudolph misunderstood. That’s him he insisted. Trust me, Susan. Rudolph the Red knows Reinder.

It seems to me that with the magnitude of Susan's fan support, she should be the one calling the shots in any negotiations with any person or entity. Sitting in the catbird's seat, if you will.

PS, Tommy, you are a true genius.

Does anyone know for sure when Susan's birthday is?

I know in Wikepaedia she's down as 1st April 1961 but I remember reading that it's actually in June - I think 15th and if it is coming up, perhaps we could do something extra special again for her???

I stopped a while back looking at any newspapers online and listening to anything news reports re Susan. Sometimes when someone prints one here or quotes from one, I look just enough to see the trend. If it is the least critical I keep moving. It has helped me to avoid the grinding anger inside that the such causes me. It really affects my blood pressure and GERD, and the only things that would ease it would be to inflict violence upon their bodies. Words won't do it. So I have to prevent as much as I can.

It has helped a lot to not look at that stuff.

Goos Morning World, It's a new Day and I look foward to the wonders that our Susan brings us that have inspired the world. She hasn't faded away as the cruel had wished but has been raised to a level beyond her own simple dream. Even while now out of the spotlight she is continuing her inspiration by being able to change a world with many cynics and critics to admit they were wrong and say I'm sorry. The dream is not over...it continues to shine on through Susan for all of us.

Back to my dog, Jolie, she looks like a medium size Golden Retriever if there were such a critter.

I sing to my babies too. To Jolie, I sing, naturally, Jolie Blon. I have a cd that is nothing but different versions by different individuals and bands of Jolie Blon.

Hi there Spiritualwoman. It's nice to have you here. I believe that because of vandalizing trolls at the site's inception, the administrator, Paul, siezed tight control of the starting of blogs. The fan site has grown to a point where it is getting somewhat unwieldy to operate in this manner and Paul is considering improvements that will make this a more user friendly community. We're all aware of what a unique internet community this is in the degree of love and good feeling shared between members of a growing community of about 21,000 strong. I think you will like it here if you enjoy all things Susan. We are all Susaholics here. Would you care for coffee?
Posted by johnnycake on June 04, 2009
Do you have Susan singing Jolie Blon on that CD DannyMac?
Posted by DannyMac on June 04, 2009
YourAwesome, that would be great, but with so little leadtime, it may not be possible. We don't even know if she is going to sing at Kennedy Center or what. But you remember we all said, whenever she sings anywhere, those members who can attend will sit together, some may even be able to travel together. I know I could do Atlanta, Orlando, or Tampa. Have family in each to help me with arrangements. I still envision sitting with some of you and screaming Susan, Susan, Susan, when she appears, not to mention all the standing O's we will give her. Oh yes, and hearing and seeing her.

Elaine Paige wants to help Susan.

http://www.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts/view/105268/I-ll-help-SuBo-insists-Elaine

I’LL HELP SUBO, INSISTS ELAINE

ELAINE PAIGE: The singer has vowed to help Susan Boyle Thursday June 4,2009 ELAINE PAIGE has vowed to seek out Britain’s Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle and offer face-to-face counselling after the Scot was admitted to the Priory clinic suffering from exhaustion.

The grand dame of musicals dramatically insisted that Susan, 48, must cut ties with the programme that made her famous. Susan was rushed to the psychiatric hospital after collapsing in a London hotel the day after her performance in the show’s final of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables.

Elaine, who sent a message of support to Susan during the Britain’s Got Talent run, told Day & Night: “I really want to meet her as soon as I can. I hope I might be able to visit Susan when she is feeling up to it as I have so much advice I want to give her.

“I want to tell her to stay away from everything for a while and everyone connected with that show. She really needs to go home, get her head down and keep quiet. That is the only way she is going to get herself sorted out.”

The 61-year-old, who received critical acclaim in 1978 after her West End debut as Eva Peron in Evita at the age of 30, believes that her own exposure to sudden fame means she’s perfectly qualified to offer help.

“I feel I have some very useful things to say to her,” explains Elaine. “I have plenty of advice that I could give her based on my own experience. It was difficult enough for me when I starred in Evita in 1978 but this lady is from West Lothian and the media hype these days is much worse than it was back then.

“These days people who become famous face a total onslaught and she has had a hundred times more of it than I did because of YouTube and globalisation. It would be difficult for anyone to deal with.”

Wouldn't it be great if that when Susan sees PEBBLES they take a photo of their being reuniting (Just One Photo) maybe taken by a family memeber who releases it to the world so that her adoring family of fans could see that wonderful smile of hers and her return to the happiness she so much deserves. It would bring a new and more current meaning to......The shot (Picture) heard round the world.

@TommyUSA - Wow. That is just... wow. You somehow managed to find the words to express to Susan the support and encouragement that will surely lift her spirits and let her know that there are people in this world who value her, and who will continue to value her, for who she is and how beautifully she sings. I genuinely hope and pray she will find comfort and encouragement in viewing your DVD, and in the letter you wrote to go with it. Thanks so much for the love and effort you poured into this project!

Good morning, Susan devotees. Just having my first cup of java - it's 7:30 a.m. here in the Bluegrass state and pretty cool for a day in June. I haven't checked out any press stuff regarding our girl - I did watch the new videos and looked at all the new posts. Sounds like Susan is feeling better and that Simon's promise that her recording is on track is perking her up. As to Susan doing commercials - she has better things than that in front of her, although that would certainly give her a lot of good TV exposure.

On one of the posts, someone suggested that we not look at press releases, etc., but here's a thought: every time we google a newspaper or website and search for Susan Boyle, it tells that paper or site that there is still interest in her. We need to fan that flame and let them know that we're searching for news of Susan. As long as we do that they'll keep printing articles about her. If we don't like what they say, most of them have a "comments" section where we can give them a piece of our minds. We cannot let Susan be forgotten, even for a day. Newspapers are in big trouble due to the internet and TV, so they're trying to appeal to their buying public and give them what they want to read about. Let's make it Susan Boyle.

My earlier post was censored by deletion earlier, someone asked that I repost;

Following a Google link has led me to this interesting site and after reading a few of the comments here felt a need to place a short reality check.

I presume that this site is aimed at the US and may not be in touch with what really goes on here in the UK.

Britain's Got Talent in line with other talent and reality shows are simply Television programmes. They are made to entertain. This is what they do and pull in great numbers of viewers who love to see contestants ridiculed and underdogs shining through.

Many hundreds of potential contestants, far more talented than Susan Boyle turned up for the auditions. Most are turned away because they are just too pretty, great singers, normal or just plain perfect. They do NOT get through. They do not make good television. But large, ugly, grumpy, village idiot types like Miss Boyle do. We the UK audience love to mock and laugh at these unfortunate people.

The Judges big them up to get reaction both from audience and contestant.... this is television and nothing more.

Susan has now been slated by our own #1 female singer who tells it like it is... that Susan cannot really sing. She swears and lashes out at people around her. She is avoided in her home village. Susan has practised and practised and practised all her live for that 15 mins of fame. She got it due to her looks and personality. So good for her.

BUT this is where it ends. She will now dissapear without trace. The same as the rest of the large, un-attractive winners of these shows from the past.

I am not being cruel. I am just telling it as it is, It sells papers & the advertisers fight to get their slot. Please don't believe the hype!

SimonJ, this is a free country, and because of that there are plenty of places where people can go to voice negative opinions about anything they care to. This particular corner of the country is a fan club for someone that over 20,000 members think is very special. I can't imagine why anyone who felt to the contrary would want to waste their time with us, but if such a one did drop by we would be friendly as long as he was respectful of our interests, know what I mean? Because otherwise it would seem to a reasonable person that the fellow was just trying to cause trouble. Now who would want to do that? But I just can't imagine that you actually saw someone making a negative post that disappeared as it was being written. That sounds kinda fishy, know what I mean?

Speaking as a Brit living in the US, I beg to differ with Louis, and I have to ask him who is "our own#1 female singer"? It obviously is not Elaine Paige, who certainly has a large and faithful following and apparently is very supportive of Susan. There are people out there who are appreciative of real talent. Yes, BGT is a television programme, but this is the Internet age now and so Susan's performance was viewed worldwide. I am inclined to think that Louis is not cognizant of the fact that of the millions who have seen Susan sing, the majority have felt that she can sing. Had they just heard her on the radio, I think they would have thought what a beautiful voice, who is that singing? I have to wonder too if he has heard her sing "Cry me a River". I think I was more mesmerized by that than by "I Dreamed a Dream", and could't believe that she had not been "discovered" before.l

@lorais ..pleased to meet you too :)

i do not mind if there is no hype or if the hype is over, i just want to hear her sing .. and i am sure that she will do just fine with the fans that are here now ..

On other sites there seems to be a fair bit of ignorance about the mental illness, Aspergers syndrome and Susan Boyle, so I would like to post a copy of what I posted on those sites, just to try and help Susan or any one with Aspergers out. Psychologists, physicians, educators, and parents remain largely uneducated and uninformed regarding high functioning autism and Asperger’s Syndrome, particularly in girls and women, and the person is often misdiagnosed (Fattig, 2007) or undiagnosed, such as Susan Boyle - she is 47 it was quite uncommon for a primary school child to be diagnosed with Autism, let alone Aspergers in that era, but I suspect her behaviour and social isolation would earmark her as an Aspie, almost immediately nowadays. I am surprised that some official psychologist has not come out before now and confirmed what any of us who work with people with Aspergers have suspected from the first moment we saw her stumble over trying to find the words "collection of villages" in her first performance. It is not unusual at all to be highly talented (HIGH FUNCTIONING) in one area such as music, singing or playing an instrument and be totally inadequate in the social graces. I love her just as she is and would not change a thing, she is what she is - unique and genuine - people should take her as she comes - realising that behaviours such as using four letter words, running around half naked in public etc., are typical aspie reactions to extreme stress! What so called "normal" person could handle the unprecedented overnight media “fame,“ that this beautiful woman has been subjected to? I would say unreservedly she could fit into the Aspergers category on the autism spectrum. INCIDENTALLY HER BEHAVIOUR WOULD HAVE BEEN THE SAME AFTER THE SHOW, WHETHER SHE HAD WON OR LOST - IT IS JUST A TYPICAL ASPIE REACTION TO ALL THAT THE STRESS. SUSAN IS NOT ALONE, YOU WOULD BE SURPRISED AT JUST HOW MANY VERY FAMOUS PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SUSPECTED ASPIES, THE LIST INCLUDES: Bill Gates, Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Benjamin Franklin, Beethoven, Leonardo da Vinci, Socrates, Virginia Woolf, Tom Hanks, Robin Williams, Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Goethe, Shakespeare, Napoleon Bonaparte, George Washington, Abraham, Lincoln, Louis IV, Catherine the Great, and Isaac Asimov just to mention a few! I OFFER THIS INFORMATION AS EN EXPLANATION, NOT AN EXCUSE, FOR HER BEHAVIOUR and YES, I do think her behaviour should be accepted without penalty on the strong possibility of her having undiagnosed Aspergers Syndrome. ((Everything I say can be researched on the internet - just type in Famous people and Aspergers Syndrome))

TommyUSA, that is a fine heartfelt letter that you have written. I have viewed most of the videos you have made and if the DVD you have made for Susan is half as good, which I am sure it will be, I am sure that Susan would really enjoy receiving it and it would be something tangible that she would have to show once and for all that people really do care and want to hear her.

Why are all these unproven statements about Susan being made anyway? Susan is Susan and that is why we love her. No one has said anything about her having anything more than SLIGHT brain damage caused by being deprived of oxygen at birth. Many people have this happen to them and many are able to funcion quite capably throughout their life. Let's quit speculating and get on with supporting!!
Posted by 281165 on June 04, 2009
@spiritualwoman: Don't feed the trolls means that you completely ignore them in public. Any comment to them polite or less polite is food for them to continue their trolling. But you are free to send them a harsh personal mail like "please do us all a favour and jump from the cliffs near Dover" or "please electrocute yourself very slowly" for example. ;-)

DannyMac ~ An alligator po'boy for you then? Perhaps you can request that Susan do a version of Jolie Blonde just for your hound. Sing it live in Savannah.

I do wish that people who do not know Susan personally and who cannot make any clinical assessment of her would stop attempting to diagnose her and label her. The fact of the matter is that no one outside of the medical professionals whom Susan has personally consulted has either the information or the right to make any diagnosis of her condition. I find it quite demeaning to her to speculate wildly about her presumed psychological issues, or even about those of other prominent people. We cannot know whether any of this is true, and furthermore we have no right to know about Susan's health unless she chooses to disclose that information. To continue to speculate, label and pigeonhole her without cause is as insulting to her as what the gutter press has done.

Posted by Bohemian Spirit on June 04, 2009
@Awesome, the NEW-NEWS is that Susan is getting some much-needed R&R in seclusion, far from the paparazzi and other media. ;-) But that's all right by me. We can wait.
Posted by DannyMac on June 04, 2009
Lous, this is group and site for suppoorting and loving Susan. Obviously, that is not what you are here for. And you were determined to succeed in spewing your garbage. So now that you have, you can leave here and find someplace suitable for your "talents". And don't let the door hit your rear as you go. Soon we will be able to eliminate such as you from our site You don't know s--t from shinola if you don't recognize a great lady and a voice for the ages. But I think basically you are just full of hagte.
Posted by NewHamster~Vermonster on June 04, 2009
Wendy I know you are well meaning but I think we should get away from labeling Susan with any particular form of mental illness or disability. Her outlook and behavior could just as easily be the result of her endearing and wonderfully eccentric personality, her upbringing in a tiny sheltered town, and her experience being taunted for whatever reason. Children can be cruel and it can come from jealousies and many other reasons that have nothing to do with who they are bullying. I SOOO wish everyone would stop, in every article about her, mentioning her "brain damage". Sheesh, like her brother said she went to a regular school, can play the piano, studied music, and has normal intelligence. My son has a slight processing disorder that effects certain areas of learning that he needs accomadations for but he has an above average IQ and is a college student. Once out of school many of these LD's become unnoticeable in a person's every day life, which is what has been said about Susan. I truly believe that what has happened to her could happen to anyone thrust in the limelight and especially to someone as sheltered as Susan. Remember she never even used a computer or cellphone before! I wish she had never told anyone she'd ever had an LD because it has been so overblown, and now, because of the stress she experienced, people are bunching it together with mental illness which is a huge step backward in the public's understanding of these issues.

Simon, echo what was said by johnnycake, we do indeed have differences of opinion here as how could we not. But that is a whole different thing from someone coming on here spewing hate of the vilest sort toward Susan. We won't put up with that.

Well everyone now that the zantac has been passed around...let's sit back and have our coffee/tea & jelly donuts! Sorry the quiche is gone! A troll ate it!! lol

Hi at NewHamster!!! :) Trolls are gone...yeah!!! Smile have some treats with us...and LETS CELEBRATE SUSAN!
Posted by johnnycake on June 04, 2009
So, is today the day Pebbles goes to London? I'd love to see Pebbles arrive in a limo with black windows with the cancerous press that's surrounding the Priori stepping all over each other as they try to get a picture of The world's most famous kitty kat. With a little luck they might trample each other to death like a crazed crowd at one of their "football" matches, and Pebbles would slink over to one of them, turn her back on him, and scratch dirt over him, mistaking him for a turd. Happy thoughts...Those are happy thoughts Ed McMahon saying, "Heeeeeeeeeeeeere's Pebbles!"

This article stresses that all nine of the BGT finalists, including Susan, will appear with the tour June 18 in Liverpool:

Susan called Pebbles on a cell Phone! I don't find that strange at all! I called my cats on my cell phone when my family and I were driving home from a beach vacation. I left a message on the answering machine that we would be home soon. Any true animal lover would find this perfectly normal. Susan is a single woman, with no children, who lives alone. I am sure she thinks of, and treats Pebbles as her child. There are zillions of people that think of their pets as children. Susan is not bizarre because she telephoned her cat! I am thrilled that Susan will get to see Pebbles!
Posted by NewHamster~Vermonster on June 04, 2009
I wish Susan would go to Pebbles and not vice-versa. Susan could feel rejected if Pebbles does the typical cat-like freakout after traveling and being in unfamiliar surroundings and dives under the furniture instead of into Susan's lap. SUSAN JUST GO HOME FOR A FEWS DAYS! GET OUT OF THAT HOSPITAL!

Sorry, don't wanna upset anyone but I wanted to clear a few things up. jonnycake, I had to join today to post my comment. I am currently researching and going through anything I can find today on Susan be it pos or neg(I'll come back and post a link to the article if anyone requests). I read a post, went away, came back and it had gone???? It seems to have been put back now though.

Wendy33, you make a sensible and interesting post and something I will investigate.

dannymac, I came by to look, i'm sure thousands do but I read louis' post which seems to be factual (although a bit stupid to post on here). I don't read it as a hatefull piece, he may have meant it in the positive. Anyway, thanks folks. Si

I agree catladyinPA, Pebbles is her companion and saw her through her mother's death. Pebbles, like all pets, gives her unconditional love and doesn't care if she comes in first or second in BGT or even if she can sing. I have called and spoken to my pets on the phone. Most pet lovers understand this.
Posted by YUSA on June 04, 2009
To Louis - Wow, thanks for setting us Americans straight on just how cruel a society you have! Let's just say you are correct and BGT wanted Susan to fall flat on her face and make a fool of herself - that is not what happened - which is what makes Susan so special.

When she sang, she touched the WORLD very deeply. I have not and will not ever forget that - heck, I still cry every single time I watch her first appearance on BGT.

You are entitled to your opinion, but don't expect to make many friends here. This is a place where we can at least attempt to give back to Susan who gave each of us so much.
Posted by Lonnirose on June 04, 2009
Go Johnny, go! Hate those trolls, and I can't help blasting them either. I'm still crying from Tommy's video - can't seem to stop, and I'm really not a crying type woman. Every time I see Susan's face I just want to mother her and say, "It'll be all right, sweet girl." I missed the bit about Elaine Page - is she going to see Susan? And do we know if Pebbles has yet arrived? They're 5 hours ahead of us, so maybe it's already happened?

Well said, YUSA!

@Wendy33, how presumptuous of you! Why in the world are you linking 'Aspergers syndrome' with Susan Boyle? Hello? Clearly, you are misinformed! It has been said, time and time again,(by experts, doctors, the BGT judges, etc) that Susan does NOT have any underlying mental illness! She had learning disabilities as a child and is just fine now. Please do your homework before making presumptions.

Here's what I think: Susan is an artist, and like all artists she has a sensitive nature. My goodness, look at the feeling she puts into her songs. There are a lot of singers who just get up and sing, but Susan FEELS her song and gives it meaning. Aside from the fact that she has the most beautiful voice I ever heard, that's the reason she touches us so deeply. Notice how she glows when she's singing - she sings right from the heart. I have never seen anyone to even come close to her depth of feeling when she sings. Well, now I'm crying again.

Someone here said that Susan's family were not supportive of her when she was growing up. I thought that was a bit harsh until I saw this article with her brother Gerry:

http://deadlinescotland.wordpress.com/2009/06/04/donny-osmond-supports-susan-boyle/

I apologize; you were so right. I'm absolutely horrified that they even thought those things about Susan, much less repeat them now.
Posted by A Genie on June 04, 2009
I just had a thought (and I know that is dangerous!) but, while Susan is in special care, maybe someone qualified will accurately test her and let her know that she really, has no deficits. I think she's been told all of her life about limitations; and she has believed it. She certainly has been able to learn her music; and answer the on-the-spot interviews with intelligent responses. She's not limited in any of my view (and I have worked in the medical field many years).

I don't believe for a second that Susan had "learning difficulties" and I can speak from experience. When you are bullied enough you start to think why bother to do my best at school, I will not be appreciated anyway. That is why I said in my candle video that I recognize a lot in Susan Boyle. I was bullied at one school to and my results dropped. I was tired at school for not sleeping well, because of the bullying. Bullied people often have less results than the not-bullied. Susan learned how to read notes to play piano. That means she had no learning difficulties. In 1988 my father suddenly died and I had to take care of my mother as well for ten years. My dream to go to university down the drain. That I recognize as well. If someone can learn how to read notes (and I cannot) then such a person in my book has no learning difficulties. It was the bullying that made her results at schools. And she has a brilliant voice that goes right down your spine. She should have been discovered 30 years ago.

lonnirose, exactly. You have nailed it. You don't even see her when you are listening to Cry Me a River, and just with the use of her voice, she interprets the song perfectly. And when you can see her and listen, it overwhelms you. I never hear a singer who radiated the meaning so well, nor one who also radiates her love of what she is doing to her listeners.

Posted on The Sun discussion of America Wants Susan Boyle:

Millions of Americans really do love Susan Boyle, and even most of our media have been very favorable toward her during and after her time on BGT. We welcome and bless Lady Susan's visits to America, and her release of CDs and DVDs. It's amazing and sad to us that some of Britain's media and people are so heartless toward the tender beauty in your midst. We really thought more highly of you, but articles in this newspaper and comments on this site have caused many of us to reconsider.
Posted by YUSA on June 04, 2009
Which room is everyone going to?
Posted by DannyMac on June 04, 2009
I have never been altogether settled in my mind about Susan's relations with her siblings. Distrustful in the beginning because she felt so unvalued. And Gerry has made a statement or two that I didn't like. Still, after Susan got in such unhappy condition, I have been hoping that they really do sincerely care and take care of her, because if they don't, who can we feel trusting toward to look out for her welfare. Don't anyone misinterpret that. Any of us need people who love us and stand by us and help us sort things through when we have situations to cope with. All of us have told each other over and over how we want so bad to take care of Susan, but there is no way for us to do that, so I have prayed that there is someone to do that, whether family or not. I don't plan to read the article you referenced. Maybe, you know, her family has also been told so much that she has a problem that they have had it engrained in them and interpret any quirky thing she says or does as in that light. It would be good if it could be shone to them that this is not so. But, you know, I surely don't want to see anyone subjecting Susan to examinations and testings. What effect would such a thing haveon her.

Posted by BethInTheUSA on June 04, 2009
I think it's hilarious that Brits think the American press are worse that the British press, and that's why Susan would get treated worse in America. Not even remotely, love! The British press is notorious for it's vicious and ruthless tactics. The American press, by contrast, has legal constraints; they have to watch it, because celebrities sue them and win! That isn't nearly the case in the UK.

Posted by Lonnirose on June 04, 2009
Danny, I got the same impression from Susan's brothers' interviews. Seems like they're not taking this seriously or something - like, "Oh, she'll be all right - we've seen this before", attitude. Maybe it's just their way of hiding their feelings, that could be and I hope so, but I hear more concern from people totally unrelated to her. Personally, I'm just frantic with worry as I know we all are. Maybe I need to smack them too.

We have two blog sites going - this is fun!

Johnnycake and Zan - sorry for the confusion about knowing Susan. I was afraid after I posted that someone would read it that way. What I meant was that while viewing the BGT clip the first time I just loved the way Susan presented herself. When she had to search for the word villages and found it, she had this incredible sparkle in her eye. There was just something about her, and then when she began to sing, OMG, you all know that story. I have watched that clip so many times that I have it memorized and Susan now lives and sings in my head. LOL.

LAS4124 is the userid I typically pick as Leslie is usually taken, it's just my initials and an old phone number.

Someone commented that traffic on this site was dwindling. I think one of the reasons is there's too much chatter. I am not a regular blogger, have limited time to spend on the web, but am interested in Susan, her welfare and her professional progress. I don't appreciate having to get past what sounds like chat room stuff, or people plugging their favorite comedian or someone else repeatedly. Sometimes I avoid reading comments because the sheer volume is more than I have time for, and when I do, I don't like to wade through a good bit of personal conversations among bloggers.

I have to get back to work, but want to thank the person who has made this site possible. To use Susan's famous words - it just needs to be tidied up a bit - some disciplined monitoring.

Hi! Checking in to see how everyone is doing. Apparently Susan's cat is with her so that will speed up her recovery. Also "The Sun" is talking about David Carradine on the website right now. Tragic news but at least giving Susan a break. I heard from the Press Complaints today and they said that they don't usually take reports from people not actually involved, but are already looking into Susan Boyle's case. I am going to forward them something from the Mirror soon. Take care all.

I would think when Susan starts singing and making appearances they would put bodyguards around her like they do other celebrities. She needs protection from the press.

Walmart staff are aware of Susans CD and that it is expected in. Call Walmart.com and do a search. I found no detailed information other than that.

The last I heard there are 22,000 fans registered to this fan club. I know of a friend that told me that she is on a Susan Boyle fan club oon Facebook.

Also, David Carradine committed suicide as they found him in his hotel room. He hanged himself. What a sad loss.

Sorry, again! I meant to say I agree that "I dreamed a dream" will for ever be Susan's trademark song. I even feel, it has become her own property, now. Lots of people will probably try and sing the song, maybe to draw part of her fame on their heads. But I personally can't stand hearing it sung by anybody else but her. This goes for all the songs I have heard her sing so far. Some young wannabe sang "Killing me softly" on the French equivalent of Pop Idol, last week, but I didn't hear much of the song as I immediately switched channels. Susan has such a personality as an artist and puts so much of herself in the songs she sings that they become her. I think I heard the French lyricist of Les Miserables say in an early video that she had recreated the song and made it all new. I also wanted to insist that I wouldn't like to see Susan in a commercial. Her talent deserves more than that!

I so hope this is true. I was wondering if they ever would take Pebbles to see her. If anything will help her recover faster it would be Pebbles. I read on wikipedia in the section of "BGT", that "Her family said that “she's been battered non-stop for the last seven weeks and it has taken its toll", but that "her dream was very much alive", as she had been invited to the Independence Day celebrations at the White House.[41]" I'm from USA and think that's awesome and hopefully true. I sincerley want her to get well. But I also would love love love to have many CDs of her beautiful voice. Especially a Christmas album! Does anyone know how to write a letter to her? I know she gets fan mail, but believe it or not I've never written one and would love to send her card to let her know how much she is loved. Please send me email through my link name kle549, I'd be so grateful!

Am starting to think DannyMac is right about the Boyle brothers. This story about Osmond -- that is nice. But why does brother Gerry have to say his mother said, when Susan sang and drove the family crazy, Leave alone. It's all she's got. Geesh. Couldn't he have left off the second statement? Once again, it casts her in that less than attractive light. I am sure she had many things going for her. Well, the family will probably like her a lot better when she is rich and buys them all houses (she said somewhat cynically)

Firstly,I need to correct something I said yesterday in one of my posts(have no way of going back and editing it though).I said words to the effect that Susan has more class, more charm and more talent then they(press) have in their collective little fingers.Of course it should read,Susan has more class, more charm and more talent in her little finger then they(the press) do collectively. Secondly,I must have taken on board what people were saying about Susan getting back out there as soon as possible, rather then have a break like I felt she should because,I had a dream about her last night.I dreamed that she told us all not to worry because she is going to be just fine, that nothing she has endured in the past few weeks is going to stop her from realising her dream. She said tabloids press will not defeat me. I also dreamed that her first CD will be released in early Sept to rave reviews. She would then go on a concert tour with Piers and Pebbles, waiting back stage for her.LOL.I think I need to stay away from reading about this woman.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart TommyUSA, what a beautiful letter and gesture. Not to mention so unselfish sending it to her on our behalf rather than just your own.

I also, like DannyMac would like a copy of the DVD and am willing to pay whatever it may cost. Just tell me how.

DannyMac, thank you for telling that a##h##e Louis where to go, my sentiments exactly. We don't want people like Louis,SimonJ, and yesterdays realdeal tainting our blog. This blog is one of love, caringand appreciation.

TXNoelle and Zan, you are riots, a great sense of humor certainly runs in the family.

Casey says thank you for you support. Big furbaby kisses.

Susan I hope you know how much you are loved and by really wonderful people from around the world.

I haven't purchased a CD in some time Susan but I can't wait to buy yours! I wish you the absolute best. Rest, don't listen to the nasties and get home to Pebbles and your loved ones. When you're ready get in to the recording studio and do what you love, sing! I get chills listening to you and I've always been a rock-n-roll fan. Your voice is truly amazing!

I totally would go anywhere in the US to see Susan live with my Susan Boyle fan club family!

Noelle, this would be a great opportunity to give Susan the party we have spoken about in earlier blogs. Will call you on the weekend to discuss.

Hey Leslie, I know just waht you mean about being intrigued even before she began to sing, especially with the finger to the forhead to help her think. There wasn't the staged ridiculous quality to the typical farcical acts BGT trots out, she just seemed genuine and playful. She owned their stage (and our hearts) from the moment she stepped on it with that yellow dress. The audience's and panel's initial reaction to her made me cringe.

Hey DannyMac, grab me a coffee too, would you? Savannah, is that near Macon? Always wanted to visit Duane and Berry. But just hitch hiking to DC will be a challenge. I do love the South, but it's kinda sticky in July, unless you have the Gulf handy. I hope that if Susan does tour the US that it is not a hurried schedule, but one that will give her time to enjoy each of the different areas she visits, from the Gulf to New England, to the Rockies, to the Pacific and all that's in between. I wouldn't want her to see America as nothing but one hotel room after another.
