Susan Responds to QUIT Rumours
Posted by SBFII Admin on April 28, 2009

Susan has given her first interview since newspapers reported earlier this week that she may QUIT the 'Britain's Got Talent' TV show.

Read below what she says regarding this plus a message for her fans in an exclusive interview with the official BGT website.

susanb.jpg

BGT: Hi Susan, how are you feeling today?

SB: I'm feeling very well, bright as a button in fact!

BGT: There have been reports in the papers that you are "exhausted" and on the verge of a "breakdown", are there any truth to these?

SB: None whatsoever. I'm not stressed and I'm certainly not on the verge of a breakdown! I've never felt more positive, it's all nonsense.

BGT: In today's papers the Daily Star has reported that you want to quit the show - is this true?

SB: No! There is absolutely no truth in that either, there is no way I am quitting the show. The only way I'd leave the show is if Simon Cowell kicked me out!

BGT: Your fans have no need to worry then?

SB: They don't need to worry about me quitting that's for sure! All I can say to everybody is some of the stories about me in the papers are just untrue, I'm not going anywhere; I just want to concentrate on my singing.

BGT: So how are you feeling about what lies ahead, confident?

SB: I can only concentrate on the song I'd like to sing if I make it through to the next round. I wouldn't say confident, I'm nervous in fact, but nerves can be a good thing because they make you do your best on the big night.

BGT: Are there any messages you would like to give your supporters?

SB: Well I'd like to say all the best to everybody on Britain's Got Talent, and to everyone who has supported me so far I'd like to say thank you - it is very much appreciated. All I can promise is to do my best and confirm to everyone that I'm not leaving the show, I can't say fairer than that can I !?!

I am so happy to hear Susan is doing well - from Susan herself. That girl has spunk! You go Susan, we all love you so and wish you only the best. Can't wait to hear you sing again. You are my hero!

You tell 'em, Susan! Good for you! Maybe the silly rumor mills can shut down for awhile now. I so much look forward to the BGT semifinals, and to hearing you sing, even though I'll have to wait until a video clip of your singing is posted, since I'm in the US. Take care of that beautiful voice, now, so that you can knock the judges and audience over on BGT with your next song! Sending lots of love and best wishes from Texas.

Thank you Susan and BGT for getting the truth out. Whew, it was getting a little confusing. Take one day at a time. God is with you. With prayers from New Jersey.

Despite all the crazy stuff flying around, every time we get to hear from Susan, herself, she certainly sounds like she knows what she's doing and is capable of taking care of herself. I'll keep sending out thoughts of support, of course, but simply out of support and goodwill, not out of fear. Win or lose, she's ready to just go out there and give it her best--and she knows she's got an audience, either way. Go, Susan!!!

@ Kiltkapper: It appears to me that the "show&hellip.." you were asking about was merely a coding error of some sort, possibly indicating ellipses after the word "show." So, no unusual Britishisms that you missed, most likely, just a typo that was cleaned up. ;-)

What amazing news! I knew from the begining that you were a tough gal. I call myself a 'tough old broad', you aren't as old as me, but you are a very strong person, you keep practicing and I for one am really looking forward to your next performance. I have listened to the first one at least 100 times, probably more! Hang in there!

I love this photo -- it's like Susan is saying, "Get off my back, will you?" to all the people who are second-guessing the "makeover" thing. Which, by the way, is so NOT a make-over! Susan still looks like Susan. She'll never look Barbie-plastic, thank goodness!
Posted by maeve'smom on April 28, 2009
Keep on going, my friend. You are wonderful. You're too young to remember Kate Smith in the US, but she sang like a nightingale and you sound just like her. You're a breath of fresh air in these troubled times.

There will always be some idiot out there to try and start some negative press, why this is so baffles me. Why is it so difficult for some people to simply rejoice in anther's good fortune? Susan has the spunk, grit and determination to see this through and win! Keep on shining Susan, we all love you. Rock that audience again sweetheart, we know you can. All you have to do is sing, your singing rocks the world.

Susan, you and your voice is wonderful. Your voice brings a lot of joy to many people. Sing your heart out and be yourself. I love your new look. As far as I'm concerned you have already won! God bless

Susan, I am so glad to hear you are doing great. You look great. I wish the press would leave you alone, so you can concentrate on your song. Please remember, you were given a lovely voice. Sing for Jesus. Not for people. Sing what is in your heart. I am so glad you are not quitting. You truly are a Blessing. I will be praying for you. I do look forward to your new song.

what's amazing about Susan is that her voice sounds so good in a big auditorium. It amplifies and soars. I keep going to her audition, just listen to her voice how crystal clear it was, how it soars to high heavens, how her tone is so balance and pitch perfect. her voice didn't even crack. one of the hardest songs and it didn't even crack acappella. that's probably why she's so confident. i think her voice sounds better when she sings in front of a large audience. what an assessment to her winning BGT! GO SUSAN!

Howdy Pards,

Well, Maeve's Mom's comments above...they sure bring back some warm and wonderful memories. The lady she talks about, Kate Smith, thrilled us to the very marrow of our bones during World War II and throughout the fifties with her song GOD BLESS AMERICA. She did indeed sing like a nightingale...with many other hits like WHEN THE MOON COMES OVER THE MOUNTAIN and others. And, yes, Susan's stage presence...her singing voice brings back many memories of that warm and wonderful entertainer.

If there's one message I'd send to Susan at this point it would be that you have already captured the hearts of all the world and lifted us up in ways we never expected. We love your voice and your personality, we love everything about ya Susan. Over 120,000,000 of us have viewed that stunning, incredible, brilliant performance... around the world. If that doesn't spell MEGA STAR I don't know what does! We are eagerly awaiting your next performance...and ready when you are for that first CD! The incredible success...the wonderful dream...has only just begun! Best of luck on the trail ahead from an ol' cowhand down New Orleans way...Adios for now. Talk to ya on down the trail. Wild Ol' Dan
Posted by Kiltkapper on April 28, 2009
Susan you are probably taking all of this better than I am..I will be a nervous wreck by the time May 26 comes..being in the US..I won't get to see your performance when you do it...It upsets me..when the media says bad things I don't like about you..I get depressed when they say you may not win...I got upset when they criticized you for getting a small make-over...AND HERE YOU ARE TAKING IT ALL FINE AND GOOD..and I'm a bloody mess...LOL

Susan! We love you and we are rooting for you and praying for you! You go girl!

Your dream has come true! Your Mom is proud of you, just as she always was! She is up there with my Mom, and all the other Mom's who have gone before us ... and the bible says they are watching us and cheering us on.

Somehow in the middle of all the ridiculous press, I had a feeling Susan that you were going to keep on with that fighting spirit and make up your own mind what you want and need to do. Your path is straight ahead of you - not a crooked path, a straight one! Keep following Jesus!

Simon says he is thinking of a movie about your life. I think that is a great idea. Your life is the story of a pure heart and an Overcomer! We need to see it - you are a great role model for the younger women to follow!

OK - now MY dream!! I want to meet Susan someday, and get to know her personally! How's that for dreaming big??
Posted by husker2 on April 28, 2009
Watch out for 10 year old Hollie Steele. She's *got talent*, too! Irregardless of what happens, Susan, you've won the hearts of the world! The final will be a footnote to the joy you have already brought us.

As many others have said; too bad we in the US can't see it live. But I'm sure the internet will have it posted PDQ! Good luck and you have my prayers.

I never thought she would snub her nose at BGT and quit. That's just not her style. People should leave her alone as far as her looks go and let her look how she feels comfortable looking. Simon should respect her right to look as she pleases as should the rest of us. So looks so darn darling no matter what she wears. I'd love to see her in a long velvet gown and dangly earrings, but nothing will beat her gold dress and white shoes...now that was precious. Hopefully she'll keep that outfit for a museum some day.

Two moments. Very impressive was Susan's last smile just before she began to sing: she knew what she was going to do. And her last blowing a kiss when leaving the stage: she was as queen - great and lovely. Ingrid from Estonia.

Whew! What a relief! All those worrying for nothing :-)

Nothing much has changed in the media, isn't it? Well, the most important thing is that we can depend on SUSAN ... she speaks out her mind.

And she can depend on us, her fans, by the look of it, to support her, understand her, and wish her all the best! Win or not .. she's already gained the global admiration.

But I know she'll win! The other competitors that have come out so far are good ... but no one is like Susan .... in her voice and style, her charisma, her personality, and the magnet that only her exudes.

The world gains great happiness each day through her, and the world deserves to see her climb the pedestal of the great winner who will continue to bring us happiness.

And her fans' desire is that she stays happy and successful in her dream, that is, to be a professional singer. Love ya, Susan, so very much.

Warmest wishes from Western Australia Elmie

The child stars are cute and talented, but that's it. They can't even compare to Susan - there's a difference between SINGING a song a DELIVERING a song. Susan DELIVERS it with soul and beauty so that you feel it deeply. Susan, you look great, you sound wonderful, and I'm glad you set the story straight.

P.S. Actually, had Susan decided to quit because of a contract offered to her by a reliable great record-producer, I would have gone along with that – because I would have trusted her decision. Her staying on the show, however, feels right - just a step at a time for our beautiful Susan. She seems to know how to approach her goal.

Also, I’m wondering whether the media really claimed she was quitting BGT or the news was only based on her brother’s worry which, by the way, was understandable of him as her family.

After all, it may not have been the media’s fault, but rather the word “of quitting’ might have spread around through everyone’s interpretation of what has been reported.

There are the responsible media and irresponsible one, and there are also the readers/critiques’ interpretations that can cause harm. Is it possible that responsible reporting and interpretation prevail on Susan’s behalf? I think so, because Susan and her supporters will handle it all so well.

Evidently, her fans in Britain will be relied on to launch her to the WINNER’s pedestal.

On the other hand, in every success-story, there seem to be detractors. Sometimes, they succeed in ruining an entertainer’s reputation.

In Susan’s case, she is undoubtedly a global phenomenon – thanks to internet :-) – a unique discovery – with a charisma unmatched whose following appears to be strong enough to get her to win regardless of any unfair reporting.

Bless you heaps, Susan! Love ya so much. Your dream is now ripe and within your reach. Enjoy the moment, have regular beauty rest, and look after your singing. I look forward to having your CDs, especially the future professional ones.

Strange, that I'm still getting brand-new Google alerts on Susan regarding 'why she should quit BGT' etc (because there are some of apparent influence who feel she cannot win the whole thing). A few of the authors of those articles make some valid points, but none of them even mention the fact that all Susan needs to do is, win her way into the FINALS, meaning she merely needs to be one of two who wins her particular semifinal heat in order to do that, thus remaining in the forefront of the public eye, vocally. She'll lose none of her 'future recording or performing potential', which is often brought up.

Winning the finals, as well? Mere icing on an already perfect cake, so far as I'm concerned. And hey--it could well happen! I refuse to believe it is destined NOT to happen; no one can 'know that' positively.

The fact is, NO one knows yet who will win the whole show. All attempts to predict 'winners' at this early date, what with four more audition rounds still to air, become akin to spin-zone hyperbole.

Does anybody here really believe that Susan won't be one of the performers in her semifinal heat who'll make it into the final rounds? For that matter, does anyone think BGT is going to place all its best talent into the same one semifinal heat? They'd never be so foolishly short-sighted as that. It would be like shooting themselves in the proverbial foot!

Susan, I wish you could view this fan site and take in all the support and pure LOVE you have garnered around the world! A whole lot of it is right there in your own UK! We love you and how you've inspired us, and have every reason to feel you'll once again knock the socks off everyone with your next highly anticipated performance.

Why? Well, because you seem so well-focused. You appear to be enjoying the challenge of it all. You aren't about to succumb to 'pressures to do anything foolish',like trying to break out of your current BGT contract in order to begin recording and selling your music a bit sooner. And I think you know, deep down, that you have a Voice unlike anyone else in this year's BGT competition, plus you know how to use that Voice to its finest effect and choose the best songs to show it off to your full advantage. Just between you and me--I agree with your assessment in the above interview that a few 'nerves' can make for an even better big-night performance. You've proven to us before that you can handle 'nerves' quite well.

I trust your judgment implicitly as to knowing what is right for you. And I can't wait to be surprised with whatever song you choose to favor us with next! All you need to so is keep the Faith and hold on to your Dream. I'm sending move love and best wishes to you straight from the Texas Pineywoods.

Oh--one small afterthought: did I forget to mention how classy you look in the photo which accompanies your BGT interview on this fan site? :-D

Susan, I knew you wouldn't quit the show. You don't appear to me to be a "quiter". I'm so happy that you are doing well and working on your music. My advise is: don't listen to anyone. Do what you know in your heart you want to do. Family, friends, the public can't decided what is best for "Susan". Only you can do that and I think you are very capable of handling all this. Girl, this is what you have dreamed of for so long. I get a big grin on my face just thinking about how your dream is coming true. You are so beautiful and precious. God gave you a big voice and you have made all of us older ladies so proud with you spunk and tanacity. Keep your chin up and forget about the naysayers. GRRRRRRRRR lol

Elmie said:"Also, I’m wondering whether the media really claimed she was quitting BGT or the news was only based on her brother’s worry which, by the way, was understandable of him as her family."

Demoness made a statement (I think it was her) about what really happened and how her brother had said if she wanted to quit they were behind her because they did not want to lose her. And that the press twisted that. That sounds like it would be the truth rather than what the press printed.

Susan is the greatest and one reason is - what Simon said yesterday - that she is unaware of the effect she has on the public as she sings and it is all from her heart. Susan does not imitate anyone, nor does she expect anyone to imitate her. She recognized herself as a unique individual and is only concerned about what she can do for others, not what they can do for her. What a gift and role model Susan is to us in this selfish world!

Posted by arkengareth on April 29, 2009
She's not a quiter, I said so, and it is true, she has spunk, and I am with her to the end, and as for that kiss on the early talent show, if you call that a kiss, then you must think rape is a relationship! A true kiss is with someone you love or admire enough to give of yourself, pecks and unwanted mugs are not even to be counted.

Go Susan go!!!! I am absolutely delighted for you. It makes me sick how people judge others so superficially. You do look great by the way. As a mature lady, with a little experience of life I would urge people to choose to be with those who are beautiful on the inside because that beauty will always shine through onto the outside just like Susan's has. People who are beautiful on the outside and like a can of stinking worms on the inside do not interest me. Susan interests me, I just wish I knew her personally. Keep on going Susan......you deserve to win!!!

I'd like to pay you a sincere compliment about your initial appearance. Personally, I thought you looked great that night. The dress you wore was sweet and looked very nice on you. Since then a lot of mean people have tried to clobber you for not being "perfect" in their eyes and it's a sad comment on THEM, not on you. What Elaine Paige does with this song is what I've heard everyone else do. Make it their own by characterizing it to fit their vocal limitations. Susan goes after it. She sings it as it was written. And nails it like no other. She attacks the song with a vengenence and with such sweet tone and control. Sorry Elaine. Sorry everyone. Susan owns this song.

Yes, Susan you are already a winner in the hearts and souls of everyone that has heard you. So much has been said about you being a much needed Angel, it is soooooo true. Susan don't change one lovely thing about yourself. Just received my Susan Boyle tee shirt today and I will wear it proudly.

wow thats something.

Posted by Ðëмõŋêŝŝ on April 29, 2009
well if you call it, being a metzosoprano, climbing all seven octaves back and forward, vocal limitations.

I don't even wanna know, what you wanna call what I do, I am only a soprano, let's quit the BS here,

Susan is great! and I wont deny, she have her own special way too, but no one sings like her and no one sings like elaine, so no one sings or attack, a song same way, but humor me here and link me, where you have two people metzosoprano's that is, singing same song the same way ???

I am all ears, on that one mick.

Ðëмõŋêŝŝ.
Posted by Ðëмõŋêŝŝ on April 29, 2009
if you had been stateing britney spears or some other regular singer there more or les all is plaigiated singers but schooled musical opera singers does not have limitations.

elaine, is pushing 62 now and is still going strong, what is very rare, in this bussines. lets see about, you still stand on same statement, 15 years from now, elaine have been at it, for 40 some years and have been huge, the last 3 decades, with dayly shows in west end.

Don't try to compare oranges with apples it simply wont cut it, stay at she's great and don't compare with something there have been great for decades, that simply just don't work mick.

Ðëмõŋêŝŝ.
Posted by Ðëмõŋêŝŝ on April 29, 2009
and besides, I wanna see Susan in west, end pull a full show, before I even, wanna compare her to any.

one song, is one song a full repertoire, is somthing totally different and then, add to that dayly shows, no sickness from elaine.

so atleast be fair, not to blow out an idiotic statement, you can't back up, even as a long shoot.

What seperates Susan Boyle from the other competitors is that she just love to sing and not doing it for fame, nor is she (before the whole world fell in love with her) doing it for money. that's why when she opens her mouth is sounds so pitch perfect with an angelic sounding voice. She's so versatile more than Paul Potts who can only do opera. So for that, there's a greater chance she can win this all the way.

Susan this last rumor was so crewel. I have fears that such exposure will lead to uncovering all the "pre-planed and fake" stunts that such shows are famous for.

What makes you so special, is your ability to stay true to who you are and do what your dream are.

I am behind you all the way even if later it is proven that all this was choreographed from day one, you have proved you can sing better than any star. As for all the others they tried to promote with the fake Simon surprised looks and the attempt to get a "buzz" going again in an effort to repeat yours.

As a dreamer I know your soul is true and the angels that surround you have been there from day one. Press on! Cheers.

Yes Susan will be a winner!!!I love to listen to nice ..beautiful...pretty music..and so many of the artist that appealed to my age group..MATURE ADULT...you don't see that much of anymore..instead we get this younger generation music..which I just don't get into..and here comes Susan..who doesn't fit in the mold that is suppose to be star quality..WHY SHE LOOKS LIKE YOU OR ME...and isn't that refreshing...someone who doesn't have to wear hair extensions..fake eyelashes..pupped up lips..scanty clothes ...face lifts..Kenny Rogers ruined his looks...AND ON TOP OF IT...SUSAN CAN ALSO SING LIKE A ANGEL..with music or without..many of the so called artist..ask them to belt out their song..without a backup tape..or without lip syncing...Susan represents a real person...who fought for this ..and went on..even when she was made fun of..THANK YOU SUSAN FOR HAVING THE FORTITUDE...THE SPUNK TO KEEP GOING...WE WOULD HAVE MISSED OUT ON THIS WONDERFUL PERSON IF SHE HADN'T KEPT GOING...I think the person..who she is...will be what makes fans want her to do well..and to support her...AND THE ADDED BONUS...HER BEAUTIFUL VOICE...I will defiantly buy her music whether she wins this contest or not...

Susan - Your makeover is great! Just don't go any further. We appreciate the little things you did and they have made a great impact. Now, just concentrate and practice your next song. Try to relax as you wait and visit with those who love you. I can't imagine how this has all affected your life. But I believe you can take it in your stride and come away a winner. You have what it takes. We will all still be here when BGT is over and will patiently wait for your first CD. Until then, we can come to your website and to YouTube to listen to you sing. God be with you.

Since this blog involves an interview where Susan lets us know her views on a few media misinterpretations, I thought folks might like to see what Susan herself thought about a not-so-nice issue which recently came up. You'll have to read the article in order to get to Susan's own statement; I can only try to post a link to it. I say, good for you, Susan! I love you for your forgiving heart, and wish others could learn to be as kind and forgiving as you appear to be.

Yay--Kiltkapper put the links HERE as well as on the other blog! I'm listening to both over and over again--managed to download them. Aren't they amazing? I've got such chills! Wonder how many more old 'treasures' might be lurking out there?

Also, I'm wondering if these could maybe be put onto YouTube--would there be a way to do it legally, or not? Am appealing to those on the site here who know about such--I honestly do not. Folks going to YouTube to listen to Susan sing the already posted songs REALLY ought to hear these, as well.

Susan, you continue to truly delight and astonish us!

When are you coming to the States?
Posted by Allikat on April 30, 2009
How to get the club version of "I Don't Know how To Love Him' onto YouTube, now? Only the little unaccompanied version Susan sang at her family's party is there--and this new, far better version taped at the club REALLY ought to be on there as well. Surely it's just a matter of time?

Everyone, be sure to visit YouTube and click on all of Susan's songs, clips, everything of hers that's THERE, as well as here, and add a comment if you can. 'The Way We Were' just did get on there and it's already garnering lots of admiration.

I think I read that Susan herself is now aware of YouTube, and I get the idea she's likely to be checking in once in a while--it'd be nice if she could see some large numbers among the 'other' site hits and read some of the comments, right?
Posted by marshaLT_pinay on April 30, 2009
Just saw the vid of her singing The Way We Were. She's really svelte and lovely, it's kinda spellbinding. Love her singing to an old lady - must be her mother. Very moving. At this point, Catherine Zeta_jones is the choice to play her. I see similarity :). The band seemed to just want to sabotage her.

Susan You are a wonder and inspiration. Keep believing and doing. What a gift you have. You make me cry when you sing. I love the hair!!

Posted by Kiltkapper on April 30, 2009
If anyone see's this new version of I Don't Know How To Love Him on U Tube..put it on here so the rest of us know about it...OK
Posted by Allikat on April 30, 2009
I just did, Kiltkapper! Took awhile--I'd never put a video on YouTube before--but you can find it, I think. The tag box wouldn't take the 'I' in 'I Don't Know How to Love Him', but I see a couple of folks have already found it. Oh--over there, I'm 'Celtickat22000', and my station will be called Celtickat's Club.

I have zero experience with this, so if anybody sees something I need to fix or change, please let me know.

Thank you SO much, for letting us know about this video! Now, the whole world can view it!

Susan, you are a breath of fresh air! I am happy to hear you know your own mind & are doing what you want to do. Many people would buckle under the pressure you've had from all sides. I have to say I've spent the time since you sang on BGT wondering why I felt you were like family to me. I worked in human services for 12 yrs & became very attached to a woman your age who is a dead ringer for you. She is developmentally disabled, but had potential very few people recognized. She blossomed & accomplished so many things everyone said she could never do. She proved them wrong; I was her biggest cheerleader, so very proud of all she accomplished. She is someone very special and wonderful, much like Susan Boyle. I no longer have the privilege of working with her, but hold her close to my heart. Seeing you brought home how much I miss watching this woman's potential become reality. You are someone with potential most only dream of realizing. My fondest hope is for you to follow your dreams and realize your full potential. Be yourself. There can be nothing more perfect in this world than that.

I have been very busy and am just now catching up. Thanks to Kiltkapper and everyone else, Allikat, etc. who posted links. Those videos of Susan when she was younger and singing in the club ... awesome. In one the background instruments drown her out or the mic got turned down, to the disadvantage of her voice and song. But the same mesmerizing effect - reactions of the heart!

Thank you Susan, for not abandoning your dream. Your mother knew, even as she left, that you would do this one day! She must have been an amazing lady!

I think, this fan site is going to be so much fun again! How I HOPE Susan will eventually be able to get in on some of the good things here, read some comments and posts, check out all the YouTube entries we've put on in her honour, etc.

If someone has any good, workable ideas which could get Susan some money from these ventures, or at least, some additional great exposure, could you please give me a holler? I'm pretty much at a loss, being so new to all this. I'd just like to be able to really DO something for her, if that makes sense.

Susan, you have truly brought Hope back into my life. Thank you so much for daring to audition for Britain's Got Talent 2009! Life will blessedly never be the same--for any of us!

...oh susan how we love you!I think you will do fine. Show us some love back with that gorgeous voice.
Posted by husker2 on April 30, 2009
What is not mentioned is the idea of a book. Some variation of 'Dreams' that is semi-autobiographical and leads up to her BGT claim to fame.

Could be just as compelling as story we are seeing now.
Posted by DES3175 on May 01, 2009
I am glad to hear that you have no intention of leaving the show.In your own words "The only way I'd leave the show is if Simon Cowell kicked me out!".I seriously do not think that is going to happen,I think you will win the whole thing. But if you don't happen to win, then rest assured your fans already consider you a winner and that will not change based on the outcome of BGT.
Posted by Allikat on May 01, 2009
Husker2, look at Fantasia Barino--she made 'Life is Not a Fairy Tale' and it was released as a television movie, yet she is still VERY young! Susan has much more of a story, hasn't she--she has lived longer and experienced more.

I believe that Susan will have some wonderful opportunities for a docudrama-style movie, also something along the lines of that biographical storyline book you mentioned, countless recordings and live performances, and anything else she might care to do which would fit into her schedule. Advertisements, guest appearances on countless TV shows and with symphony orchestras, etc.

I do get the idea that she is a bit itchy to begin making some recordings, but we already know that'll be in the works soon--right, Susan? All in good time...it'll happen.
Posted by Pete in Scotland on May 01, 2009
The person who wins BGT is not always the best performer on the night..the choice of winner has much to do with how fickle and contrite the public feel on the night. Obviously Susan will get the Scottish vote, but difficult to say if she will have the whole of the UK (United Kingdom) behind her.

If you look at her viewing figures on a day to day basis, it becomes obvious that the majority of views (and we are talking about a large percentage here) comes from an audience outside the UK. It will be interesting to see how that translates come the 23rd of May.

Having said all that, My own view is that Susan is already a winner. The only reservation I have is that it is going to very difficult for her to emulate this now famous performance of "I Dreamed A Dream". If she falls even a little short of that she may well be judged quite negatively. She has already set such a high standard for herself, but heres hoping it continues and that she truly nails her next song :-)
Posted by Allikat on May 01, 2009
Why do I have the notion that the UK viewing audience will likely cast the most votes for whatever performers continue to do the best? Like Pete in Scotland said, for me, Susan is already a winner, no matter what happens in the semifinals and finals. She can have a marvelous career as a recording artist, and if she does prove to be more 'popular' in the States and Canada than in the UK, well, it's a big continent over here. A whole lot of people want to purchase her CDs and hopefully get to see her perform live, as well.

Susan, I notice you aren't cropping up so much in interviews right now, and the media is becoming hard-pressed to find 'new' things to print and say about you. That's a good thing! Maybe you can get your rest, practice as you need to, look after yourself, and come in to your semifinal BGT round very well prepared. I hardly feel your performance is going to disappoint us. If you can just satisfy yourself, what more could any of us ask for?
Posted by Kiltkapper on May 01, 2009
Can Ireland vote...because her mother is from there...and she went there yearly I believe for a special time...I read somewhere that Ireland claimed her because of her heritage..as the boy from Wales had a strong backing from Wales...I do know much of her following is outside of the UK...We can only pray...people will do what is right...Abd the Best person wins...Of course I want it to be Susan...
Posted by Allikat on May 01, 2009
I read some article which stated that Ireland IS to be included in the voting! Does anybody know that for a fact, though? Because if the whole of Ireland gets behind Susan, she could garner a bunch more votes!

Okay--seriously, I do want the most deserving act to win. When I think of how LONG Susan has already 'waited' for her career though--I think she's earned the right to go all the way, so long as she isn't obviously outdone by someone else. It all depends upon her UK fan base, doesn't it? Well, and (hopefully) the voters in Ireland.

I'd like to hear for certain about the Ireland voting prospect. Does someone on this site know for sure?
Posted by DES3175 on May 01, 2009
Both Susans parents are from Ireland,so I am quite sure if the people of Ireland were able to vote, they would vote for Susan. I agree with Allikat,I want the most deserving act to win,BUT I hope with all my heart that it is Susan. On some level it does not matter if she wins the show or not, because she is already a winner and will now live her dream regardless of the BGT outcome.
Posted by Kiltkapper on May 01, 2009
I agree...but surely there is someone that comes here that knows if Ireland can vote....I tell myself..the better should win..but let it be Susan...but if for some reason she doesn't I will still be her faithful fan...

Susan Has I watched the talent show on tv. When you came on stage I thought back 70years to four or five years old. I used to listen to the radio that my grandparents were listening to. They liked Kate Smith and I grew up in love (With the Fat Lady) As every one called her. Kate Smith could belt out a song, like no one could. When you walked on stage , my thought went back 70 years. Kate Smith just walked on stage. When you were through singing, tears were on my face. I had Kate back. Boy was I right. Thank you Susan in my last years I have a lady that can replace Kate Smith. Kate Smith could belt out a song. Susan you belt em out too. Thanks Bill

From Nova Scotia Canada we love you. Each and every time I watch your first performance on Britain Has Got Talent (keep in mind that I am a guy and guys well) brings a tear to the eyes. As I watched the show that first evening of your first performance and seen the look on all watching from their seats I was hoping that you were going to change their expression from "What she going to do at 47 to Wow" and you did. Good going Ms. Susan Boyle and when you first CD release comes out I will surely buy. Once again from across the miles to your home town, we love you.

I came across this blog. As usual, I couldn't enough of our Susan so i google her everyday and voila! You may have to sign up to read the comments (like most of them who signed up to solely air their disgust). This is about Oprah on her show along with her panelists having made a snide remark on how Susan looks etc...You'll be amazed how people truly care about Susan and will go the extra mile to defend her - against the powerhouse Oprah. I for one, who was a big fan of hers until now, think Susan doesn't need to be on Oprah to validate her popularity. Susan is now bigger than Oprah.

..."If I were Susan Boyle, you couldn't pay me to be on the Oprah Show.

marshaLT pinay, thank you for the link you posted to the Oprah blog site. I would never have found this blog, otherwise. I rarely watch TV, have no interest in entertainment magazines, and only know Oprah from occasional comments heard from others. It was educational to go there and read the blog postings. Along with you, I was encouraged to read of the support that Susan Boyle has, even to the point where dedicated Oprah fans were willing to stand up against her in support of Susan. The blog was very interesting. Some of you fellow Susan Boyle fans may want to check it out. I’d be interested in hearing what you have to say about it.

i brought off a survey which included 1000 people who all were music lovers, aged between 18-45. i found out that just 69% of them have heard the name of Elaine Paige, about 19% have listened to some of her music pieces. and 100% (allof them) know Susan boyle and have watched her singing including her old ones she had sung in pubs and so on. i remember susan boyle expressing her dream: to be successful as elaine paige, well i don't know how successful she has been in the last few days cos this is just the big beginning, but one thing every one can be sure of, she is more popular than Elaine Paige. respect to Elaine Paige!!! love and respect to hope-giving susan Boyle..!!
Posted by Lovin' Every Minute! on May 07, 2009
Someone in one of the pieces on line has pointed out that although Susan said she'd like to be famous like "Elaine Paige, or someone like that", ironically she is now MORE famous than Elaine Paige, and in fact has introduced Elaine Paige to a lot of people (myself included) who had never heard of he. Whoulda thunk?!?!

I wonder what it must be like to wrap one's mind around all of this, if you're Susan. I don't think I've ever seen anyone acheive this level of fame this quickly. It seems to have been a perfect storm of 1) Susan's obvious talent, plus unique personality; 2) Britain's Got talent exposure; 3) YouTube & the web. I think Susan owes a lot to BGT, despite what her brothers might say. Plus, I think it would have a negative effect on her fans, who wouldn't want her to bail out. What's a few extra weeks for a CD? Start recording it now, for crying out loud!
